What media bias?
State-run media darling Katie Couric advised Republicans to stay away from fringe players like Former VP Candidate Sarah Palin and the nation’s top talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.
Of course, Katie has always had the the GOP’s best interest at heart:
Watch CBS News Videos Online
NewsBusters has the transcript, via FOX Nation:
KATIE COURIC: As Politico reported, there’s growing concern among some GOP leaders that controversial commentators and far-right conservatives have hijacked the message. People like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin appeal to the base - and you certainly need that base to win elections. But in an age when 42 percent of Americans call themselves Independents – you can’t win with just the base, either… Before the 2010 midterm elections roll around, Republicans need to get the focus back onto the Big Tent where all are welcome and off the sideshows that are popping up along the party’s fringe.
Note: Fringe according to Couric means any wildly popular conservative who can stir the base to action.
More… Magnum added this:
Is she going to give the libtards the same warning, or are Obama’s lefty fringe acquaintances acceptable?
Last time I checked neither Rush nor Palin bombed a clinic, killed a cop, or swore allegiance to the communist party.
Exactly.

That’s one scary looking picture of Katie and she hasn’t even opened her mouth…
October 29th, 2009 | 11:50 am | #2
I never realized Couric had such beady eyes.
October 29th, 2009 | 11:52 am | #3
I don’t know why, BUTT when I see her I think about such things as colonoscopies, sigmoidectomies, hemorrhoids, polyps, and such.
It must be the tone of her sphinct….I mean message.
Thankfully, no one is listening to her.
October 29th, 2009 | 11:54 am | #4
It never fails to move me when the opposition takes us aside and gives us some warm and friendly advice on how to win elections.

October 29th, 2009 | 11:56 am | #5
If Palin and Rush are on the fringe, then why are they so darn popular and the objects of the greatest attacks from the left……I’m thinking Couric is on the fringe, and she isn’t liking it.
October 29th, 2009 | 11:58 am | #6
god I just f**king hate that woman. I cannot switch the channel fast enough. What a stupid git!
October 29th, 2009 | 11:59 am | #7
Hey Katie – Thanks but no thanks for the advice. When I need to decide who to listen to about issues and how to vote in elections I will not be showing up at your door for the answers. Wacko.
October 29th, 2009 | 11:59 am | #8
Why should Republicans take advice from a MSM anchor with the lowest ratings in the history of the network?
October 29th, 2009 | 12:02 pm | #9
It has been said the eyes are the windows to the soul and her eyes tell me her soul is lost.
There is alot of malevolency there. Deep, dark, lost soul she is.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:08 pm | #10
I would advise her to stay away from fringe players like Obama and Pelosi.
What she and the GOP fail to realize is that Limbaugh and Palin aren’t ‘leading’ the conservative base, they are merely echoing the things that appeal to the conservative base of the GOP.
They remind me of the EMT’s pounding on the chest of a party collapsed on the floor from heart failure yelling ‘fight dammit, fight!’
October 29th, 2009 | 12:08 pm | #11
So, shall we compare the size of Journalism Major Sarah Palin’s FACEBOOK audience to cheerleader camera-babe Couric’s audience?
Amazing how many people Palin reaches for practically nothing while Corporate Couric, with all the money and resources and national stations broadcasting CBS is managing to reach fewer and fewer people every week.
Media-wise, Couric is stagnant NASA, Sarah Palin is the X-Prize.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:12 pm | #12
Thankfully her message isn’t getting to many people. They are all over watching Fox. I’m just saying….
October 29th, 2009 | 12:12 pm | #13
This person should be run out of her job for not doing it. She looks evil, not the perky person she claims to be. I really don’t think any GOP people are watching her anyway. She must be stumping for the RINO’S of the GOP.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:18 pm | #14
Let’s see: if we couple this post with the actions that the DNC is taking to discredit Palin on Facebook, I wonder? Nah. I’m just smoking dope to think the two are working together.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:26 pm | #15
Wow. Even an idiot can be right once in awhile.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:28 pm | #16
In the words of Rick Perry, “I think I’ll stick with Sarah”.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:30 pm | #17
What? Katie is trying to act like a journalist now? LOL!!!
Kate, Kate, Kate…..what you don’t realize is that those “Independents” you speak of are mostly disaffected GOP’ers who have had enough of RINOs and are exactly the people who WILL vote for Palin and listen to Rush.
Once again you have proven that you just…don’t…get it.
October 29th, 2009 | 12:31 pm | #18

Whoa! Katie, no one had the stones to tell Joan Rivers or Micheal Jackson not to get another plastic surgery until it was too late and they looked like freaks. So I am doing you the favor Katie, do not have anything nipped or tucked again. You’ve had way to much work to hide your aging and are right on the border of becoming “Barbie doll skin” with the next plastic surgery.

Before the 2010 midterm elections roll around, Republicans need to get the focus back onto the Big Tent where all are welcome and off the sideshows that are popping up along the party’s fringe.
Yes, because the GOP Big Tent worked so well in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
Yesterday the creature Martin who comments here also told us how to win elections. He said we need to listen to Newt, because we’re “misguided.”
How many of us here think Couric and Martin are giving us good-faith advice?

Isn’t she the least successful news anchor in the history of her business? Has anyone ever lost as many viewers on a nationwide broadcast? Maybe Cop Rock, but it’s possible that with time, the ratings for Cop Rock would have increased. I think Katie has been on a downward slide from day one.
October 29th, 2009 | 1:57 pm | #38
How DARE she! This smacks of Axelrod’s admonishment in April that the Tea Party movement could turn into something “unhealthy”. Er, thanks for your advice. Now go pound sand!
October 29th, 2009 | 1:58 pm | #39
Is that Katie’s Official ‘perspective’?
The Whitehouse targets Fox for having a ‘perspective’, but in this case I’m sure they will reward her with a new Obama interview.
What’s up her ‘butt’?!!!
October 29th, 2009 | 2:29 pm | #40
Of course Katie Couric is saying this. Liberals and Progressives are shaking in their boots right now because they know the Republican party is being taken back by force, by the base, and that is sending shockwaves around the political world. They know if the Republican party get’s its soul back, democrats are in trouble in 2010 and 2012, and beyond.
October 29th, 2009 | 2:31 pm | #41
How many people hear what Couric has to say every day vs. how many hear what Rush has to say? There is no comparison. Couric is preaching to a choir that is diminishing in scope.
It is probably safe to ignore whatever she has to say on the subject.

October 29th, 2009 | 8:07 pm | #64
Ya’ll realize that this eye-ball-to-eyeball decree to the shrinking masses means she didn’t succeed in her assignment to take Sarah Palin down. Palin’s numbers keep going up up while Couric’s numbers go down down down. And all Couric has to do of a day is read news, Palin MAKES news. All Couric has is a shrivelling group of viewers, while Palin has a growing group of SUPPORTERS. Someone has to PAY people to work with Couric, but Palin has people who’ll happily work for FREE for her. Palin TOTALLY IGNORES Couric, and Couric would love to ignore in return, but Couric is OBLIGED to report on her anyway, because Palin is a genuine mover and shaker.
Desperation! Hah! Epic FAIL!
October 29th, 2009 | 8:19 pm | #65
Couric thinks she’s a “real” reporter – news broadcaster. Keep drinking the kool aid Katie. Rush and Sara run circles around you. As with the rest of the MSM, you’re a JOKE and your nightly news ratings show it !!!
October 29th, 2009 | 11:18 pm | #66
LOL!
She will be out a job soon. CBS is about to go bankrupt and she is a big part of that. Her contract is so huge and her ratings are so small that she costs them $3/per viewer.
Maybe Obamao will give her a job as a “fluffer” at the White House.
