A new low for the rabid left…
They just can’t hate this Christian conservative woman enough.
palin rouge
A far left startup publisher is going to release “Going Rouge,” a collection of Palin hit-pieces, on November 17th, the same day as Sarah Palin’s best seller “Going Rogue” hits the book stores.
Shelf Life reported, via Free Republic:

We know that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can hunt, and even field-dress a moose, but how will she take to poachers on her book sales? Start-up publisher OR Books has announced plans to publish Going Rouge: Sarah Palin An American Nightmare, a collection of essays about the maverick Republican with a title — and cover design — remarkably similar to Palin’s upcoming memoir. What’s more, OR’s paperback tome will be released on Nov. 17, the same day that Palin’s own Going Rogue: An American Life hits shelves — and one day after Palin’s just-announced, first-ever appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show. (A shout-out to Ron Hogan at GalleyCat for the tip.)

The cover is clearly intended to deceive the public into buying it rather than Palin’s book. I would imagine Palin’s publisher will have an injunction slapped against OR Publishing preventing them from releasing it with that cover in short order.

Far too cute and ham-handed a hit job in this day and age. For example, it will be interesting to see who funded the start up.

    Clear attempt to confuse consumers.

    *shrug*

Do they think they’ll really accomplish anything with this? If someone wants Palin’s book and gets their pack-o-slander instead, do they think they’ll change any minds?

Palin will forever be a target. The people who hate her have what’s called a “conditioned response” to her. It’s not based on rationality.

The best thing we can do is make her book a huge success and not let the human equivalent of Pavlov’s experimental dogs get us down.

Pavlov’s dogs, by the way, drooled when they heard a bell ring. That’s how I picture the average Palin hater: A drooling dog reacting entirely unconsciously to stimuli provided by those with an agenda.

Isn’t there copyright law against items that are “confusingly similar”?

    Yes, there are.

This is just another example of just how frightened Obamao, the Corruptocrats and their minions are. In the fantasyland that is their “reality-based community” they think that all the crap they are pulling from tossing The Race Card(TM) to calling all of those who are not worshiping them “un American” to Nazi Nancy calling us “Nazi’s” to locking out the Republicans from committee meetings, etc, Ad nauseam.

All it is serving to do is to create an inferno that will consume them and every single institution, policy and agenda they have worked so hard to put into place.

They are playing Russian roulette with a Colt 1911.

“Do they think they’ll really accomplish anything with this?”

    Crawford,

Yea… they want to be able to scream censorship in Palin’s direction when their book gets blocked from being published with that cover.

Beat ‘em to the punch — find out who funded that start-up and drag them through the mud over such a cheesy dirty trick.

    From the OR Books website:

To avoid the waste of unsold stock and returns, we produce our books only when they are wanted, either through print-on-demand or as platform-agnostic e-books.

This system allows a rapid publishing turnaround so relevant books can intervene quickly in issues of the day.

Most importantly, we sell direct to you, the customer, shipping promptly when a book is released and/or your order is received.

People who support Sarah Palin can read the titles and know which book is which. Besides, most of her supporters have already pre-ordered the book.

This is from the publisher’s website:
“OR Books is a new type of publishing company. It embraces progressive change in politics, culture and the way we do business.

Our list is highly selective: we publish just one or two books a month, combining established authors with new discoveries.

Our editorial standards are fastidious; our design clear and elegant.”

I once heard Michael Medved state that Obama did go through the media ringer and survived, while Palin struggled.

Medved is one of those old-timey, old-school, bipartisan, reach-across-the-aisle conservatives who are embarrassed all to hell by Palin. Medved is often wring, and when he’s wrong, he’s always wrong in a huge way. He supported the amnesty bill, blatantly lying about the massive loopholes in the enforcement provisions.

He’s now lying about TARP, claiming that the banks are paying back the bailout funds and the taxpayer is making a profit. Wrong:

About $12 billion has been received in dividends or from the sale of warrants, and that led to cheery reports, including one or two of my own, that TARP was earning a decent return on investment.

Not so, Barofsky said this morning on teevee: the 17 percent return on investment being cited is not realistic, because there are many billions that, by design, will never be repaid.

    http://moneywatch.bnet.com/economic-news/blog/macro-view/tarp-inspector-general-gives-program-and-treasury-low-marks/1138/

Back to Palin: I’m not a social conservative. I disagree with social conservatives on most of the hot-button issues. I don’t like hunting. I don’t go to church. I don’t drop my g’s.

But I’m very impressed with Palin. I’m not embarrassed by her. I examined her record and found much that I admired in it. She’s a throwback to an earlier era in our history, and I like that.

Medved–like McCain–is simply too inconsistent and confusing to respect. How many times did McCain have to explain his positions and reassure us that his position on whatever issue was in fact not counterintuitive but smart and honorable?

Conversely, how often did Sarah Palin have to do that? She–like Cheney and Bolton–leave no doubt as to their positions. You can agree or disagree, but you’re never left scratching your head and asking yourself why the heck she said something.

We need that clarity. I’d vote for her in a second. I don’t care that I disagree with her on social issues. She made it clear that she’s not out to impose her personal values on the country, so that’s good enough for me.

    JoeNo Gravatar

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing remarkable about Palin as a person or a politician. In fact, the opposite is true.

What IS remarkable is the way the type of people who read this blog have attached themselves to her. I don’t think anyone “fears” her per se, what they fear is what would happen to this country if people like you actually succeeded in voting her to power. Highly unlikely, but not something to be ignored. The type of people who think that Joe The Plumber and Palin should be running this country are dangerous and need to be dealt with. We already tried 8 years of a dolt (one who is no where near as clueless as Palin or the Plumber) and look where that got us.

I don’t speak for all rational people (progressives) in this country, but that is why I pay attention to the Palin wackos. Not to mention, it’s quite entertaining to see what stupid thing she says next.

Conversely, how often did Sarah Palin have to do that? She–like Cheney and Bolton–leave no doubt as to their positions. You can agree or disagree, but you’re never left scratching your head and asking yourself why the heck she said something.

I agree — clarity of language matters precisely because clarity of thought does. Orwell warned that language is often used (abused?) in overtly politically ways in order to obscure meaning. This is why Palin brings out the worst in political elites (commentators, columnists, and politicians) — they love their word games and endless use of coterie jargon.

I just find her to be refreshing — she brings something special to politics that has been missing for a very long time.

Just to clarify, George Orwell argued in his appendix to 1984 that for tyrants to standardize thought they must, of necessity, standardize the language. Precision and clarity of language matter because precision and clarity of thought do.

Listen to any of Palin’s speeches — clear and direct. Obama’s, in contrast, are filled with trite statements and political jargon — soaring rhetoric that does just that, soar.

Is it little wonder people are tiring of his rhetoric? They want concrete speech and reasonable action — two components missing in Obama’s administration thus far, hence the falling poll numbers and growing dissent.

2010 will be a tough year for Democrats.

I believe the new blog site’s filters prevent me from typing in the appropriate word to describe the above so I’ll just speculate on what pretty flowers you can grow with it.

Man, I’m glad that we have blogs. Otherwise, I can imagine a bunch of out of shape guys spilling out into the street in stupid fistfights.

Sarah is great. I hope you all have checked out her Facebook page. Refreshing to read plain English instead of Academian doublespeak. I speak it, but it’s a waste of good time when there are things to get done… unless you don’t want certain other people to be in on it.

    Wait,

This is a web-only printing on demand publishing company. The only way they can sell something is to get mentioned in blogs, news etc. And this is exactly what they are trying to do with their provocative cover and choice of subject and publishing date. The more we mention this, more they sell (it can even reach hundreds!). This is just a web based spam using phishing technique (cover) and hoping for viral distribution. Without our outrage they will die well deserved death very soon. Just move OR publishing into IGNORE list, and live happily.

But I can assure you, that was a different Joe. In case you didn’t realize, “Joe” is a fairly common name. From the “Colorado Independent”
Former governor Sarah Palin completed her memoir in four months. She knew what she wanted to say, apparently, and had Lynn Vincent, a senior writer for the Christian publication World Magazine, bang it out. The book is due November 17 and is originally listed at $28.99 at Amazon, except that it’s already available at a cut-rate discount: Going Rogue is priced-to-sell at a mere $9– that’s for a hardcover due out in three weeks. Which raises the question: How many bestseller lists can the book top before it’s printed?
Palin’s book is just the latest addition to the the right-wing bestseller industry, where wingnut web-giveaways and bulk pre-publication sales inflate purchase rates and shoot titles up the lists, leading stores to further promote and discount them. It’s part of what Hillary Clinton, also author of a bestselling memoir, might call the vast right-wing publishing conspiracy, where the marketing of conservative titles as bestsellers is meant to push a right-wing agenda and bolster arguments that the majority of the country really thinks like Rush– or Palin or like attack writer Jerome Corsi, author of election-season bestseller The Obama Nation, a “nonfiction bestseller” that was neither, as Prof. Peter Drier put it.

Kidding, right? I don’t care for her because she is a poor leader, a quitter, not very bright, with a big ego and a very self-righteous stance. It is she, not the MSM or lefties or Democrats, who makes herself look bad, nearly every time she opines.

So here’s the idea of the week.

    1) Go to the bookstore
    2) Buy a copy of the liberal hit piece.
    3) Walk out the door. Open book. Wipe your nose (or some other body part) with a single interior page of the books.
    4) Walk back in to the store and demand a refund.

Go to next store and repeate.

Retailers hate to handle returns. They have to do the accounting, restocking, etc. It will take about 24 hours for them to pull this piece of crap off the stands.
