Despite her big money donations from Republican organizations and NARAL and support from Daily Kos, Dede Scozzafave is suffering from a cash crunch as the campaign winds down.
The Daily Politics reported:
As has been previously reported, Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava is indeed suffering from a serious cash crunch.
She spent nearly as much as she raised – $204,879 compared to $233,583 – loaned her campaign $12,000 and has just $40,703 on hand. Her biggest expense? Media, specifically Strategic Media Services in Washington, D.C.
Of Scozzafava’s contributions, $103,890 came from PACs. Her individual donors include:
Her father, Bill, on whose behalf she suspended her campaign earlier this season ($500, $1,500);her mother, Marilyn, ($2,400); former state GOP Chairman Sandy Treadwell ($1,000); Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb ($500); lobbyist Patrick McCarthy ($500); Margo Catsimatidis, wife of supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis, ($1,000); former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, ($1,000); NRCC ($4,500); the state GOP ($5,000); Assembly members Janet Duprey ($1,000), Teresa Sayward ($1,000) and Joel Miller ($500), all fellow “yes” votes on gay marriage; the late Sen. Ron Stafford’s campaign committee ($1,000); Kay Stafford, ($1,400); the Congressional Majority Committee ($5,000), former Assembly Minority Leader John Faso ($250), Rep. Chris Lee ($1,000), NARAL ($2,000).
The son of state GOP Chairman Ed Cox, Christopher, gave $4,600, but that was refunded (no explanation was given).
Doug Hoffman outspent his fundraising – $229,879 to 205,139 – quite a burn rate. He’s also $215,000 in debt ($102,000 of that is his own loan). His campaign has said he raised $210,000 on-line since the reporting period ended.
The Club for Growth accounts for the lion’s share of Hoffman’s contributions. (This is being flagged in the report for breaking the limits, but it’s an independent expenditure). There’s also a lot of out-of-state money pouring into his coffers.
Other donors of interest include: The state Conservative Party ($5,000), and the Citizens United Political Victory Fund ($10,000).
Democrat Bill Owens has raised $502,197, spent $373,836 and has $125,561 worth of debt- that’s just slightly less than the $128,361 he has on hand.
Conservative Doug Hoffman hauled in $116,000 in a single day following Sarah Palin’s endorsement yesterday on Facebook.
The Other McCain has more on the money race.
More… The St. Louis Tea Party will hold a presser today to demand that Republican leaders in Missouri make their position on Scozzafava known.

Didn’t I read somewhere that Palin couldn’t/wouldn’t be a viable political figure? Aren’t those messages in the RINO/Democratic literature and from their spokespeople?
I guess nobody pays attention to the elites anymore. No wonder the administration wants to regulate the internet. And no wonder the RINOs are starting to distance themselves in this race.
This should be a valuable lesson for both parties. It should also be a valuable lesson for the people as well.

Wonder when the RNC notices that folks like me donate to a Conservative not the RNC. Doesn’t matter what state, I donate, maybe as low a five or ten bucks but it’s what I can afford. Tired of the RINO’s deciding who they want, not what the people want. No more holding my nose to vote.

When the RNC sends me a letter asking for money, I write PALIN in big letters and send it back to them with no money.

It was the infamous Assemblywoman Janet Duprey that strong armed the GOP committee lemmings to put Dede on the ticket.

It just underscores that we Republicans have got to start paying attention and getting involved in local and state GOP politics as they are the farm team from which national candidates are drawn. Marco Rubio comes out of the Florida legislature. From now on no election is too small to ignore.

We just got an “issues” survey from the RNC, asking all of these questions from tax policy to school prayer. We filled in our (conservative) reoponses, and got to the back page of the form, with the convenient check boxes for 50, 100, 250, 1000 dollar donations. (I guess you’re supposed to think the RNC cares about any issue except for driving right down the centerline, distancing themselves from angry white guys and throwing blazing talent like Palin under the moderate bus…) My wife wrote “Screw the Rino’s” in sharpie and sent it back.
We just sent Hoffman some money too.

We need to be keeping an eye on the state officials (Secretary of State) who oversee elections too.

Cool. So instead of sending money to the RNC and their endorsed candidates, I’ll send my donations directly to candidates with the official Palin stamp of approval. That way I’ll know my money goes to a true conservative and not some RNC moderate. :)
