Jim Hoft

Last night President Obama refused to apologize for his administration’s petty attacks against FOX News.
He said its not something he loses any sleep over.

Via Greta
Do you believe that?

Earlier this week Obama spent two and a half hours with two far left reporters from MSNBC and three reporters from the far left The New York Times to strategize about controlling the president’s image and message.
Bill O’Reilly told the his audience last night that, “Obama is fighting harder against FOX News than he is the Taliban.”

O’Reilly’s right. Its time for president Obama to start focusing on creating jobs and winning against the terrorists instead of attacking his few opponents in the media.

I cannot believe that he cannot see the startling hypocrisy. It really makes me wonder if he is as smart as I used to think he was.
Obama has a meeting to coordinate his coverage with the most sympathetic voices he can find.
Fox News is some sort of wing of the GOP but msnbc and his print media buddies are somehow just fair and impartial journalists trying to get at the truth no matter where the chips may fall.
I wish I could have been a fly on the wall just to hear how many times Madcow and Olbergoof kept saying “Yes sir…Oh absolutely sir….whatever you need sir….no problem Mr. President….oh I know, I hate that guy too…”

I heard that after the meeting that Obama fed Olbermann a biscuit and said “Good boy”

    Do you believe that?

    Yes. Yes I do.

Barack Obama has shown himself to have no moral center, no conscience. His life’s goal has been the seeking of power, and now that he has it his goal is to keep it. Dissent can not be tolerated.

He’s not losing sleep over anything. You really think he cares that folks are losing their jobs, homes, we’re losing the war, and our country?

Fox News is on the front line in the cultural war we are engaged in. I cannot think of better combat veterans than our Fox News Fighters, but I am sure the Armed Forces would rightly disagree. Fox News is the only stability that overseas allies see in America. Even troll-like Chavez says the obama maoists are under-equipped to handle such a force.

I don’t understand the irony in your ironic comment, Ken. What’s unbalanced or unfair about calling the WH effort “cospiritorial”. 1 guy thinking about stomping on a news outlet is premeditation, 2 guys planning to stomp on a news outlet is a conspiricay:•a plot to carry out some harmful or illegal act (especially a political plot). Are you sayig that Team Rhamobama all (each) INDEPENDENTLY decided to attack FOX?

Article Headlines: “Obama Won’t Apologize For Attacks On FOX News – Claims He Doesn’t Lose Sleep Over It”

I don’t really understand the point of the article. That’s like saying, “The sun is HOT.” or “The moon is sometimes a bright object in the sky.”.

Obama ‘rules’ rather than governs and it’s obvious that the only real issue upon his mind is his own ideas — everything else is dust under his feet. Does anyone reading this comment consider the dust they walked on this morning?

I guess I would consider Obama a ‘modern’ man, those who’ve thrown off the restrictions of moral absolutes, God, traditional society and embraced whatever they can conceive in that mass of cells betwixt their ears. Hopefully America will not encounter any real crisis (needing immediate action) during Obama’s 8 years of rule – or we may end up with a tyrant on our hands..

    Apologize? Hah!

    Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep
the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

All of the time and energy spent with these comments on a news organization that has had a motto of ‘Fair and Balanced’ only shows the degree of Presidents Obama’s belief. As with other people around the world today, his strong ‘belief’ blinds the President to the fact that he is raising Fox news to his level by his personel involvment. I can have enough self reflection to understand that my strongly conservative views are, unfortunately, ‘right’ of center. As i listen and read comments from the left (read: socialist) view point, they are so totaly blinded that they will not even entertain the fact that they hold a minority view. A case in point is the Democrats view on raising taxes to increase revenues. They do not look at the results after a tax hike and after a tax cut. They truly believe that only raising taxes will increase the coffers. The Presidents actions, on a daily basis, demonstrate the level of his beliefs and commitment to HIS cause, not to America.

I think it’s meant to keep us from focusing on the fact that they are not fighting terrorism and creating jobs.
Where’s the decision on Afghanistan and what are they waiting for? Where are the jobs?
It’s a distraction that the administration created.
I don’t care what the Obama administration thinks of Fox News. The fact they want to sit down and talk with the president of Iran and they will not talk with critics at Fox News is pathetic on their part but unless they move to censor their critics, it’s just more noise from a petty group of staffers and advisors.

Why would a president that wasn’t a petty, thin-skinned hypocrite give two shits about what Fox News says anyway?

This reminds me of William Shirer’s book “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”, and how Joseph Goebbels took over and molded the news. I would think the other news outlets might have second thoughts about their “slobbering love affair”, they might be next.

If he got off his duff and held true to his pre-presidential rhetoric, that Afghanistan is the war “we have to win,” well, then those massive numbers of us in flyover country would back him up.

That’s one of the big differences between libs vs. Bush and conservatives vs. Obama. Libs cut down Bush regardless of what he did. We cut down Obama when we believe he’s doing harm/damage, but will — and WANT TO — support him when he’s doing right. Following the generals’ advice and fighting Afghanistan to win will mean that, at least on the war, we conservatives would have his back.

“Even some of the posters here compare Fox to MSNBC and CNN on the other side, indicating, though not admitting, that they’re all in the opinion business.”

Then why didn’t the President or the Chief of Staff indicate (if not admit) that MSNBC, like Fox, is opinionated?

Ask your lord god almighty Obama. He’s the WON who said that’s the war to focus on.

One could argue the only way to win would be to kill all the Taliban. Because that is the Taliban’s sole purpose these days: to kill those who aren’t like them.

If you look at the whole package of the Obama admin and the progressive left there is an underlying theme of larger government, greater control of our daily lives, so called social justice and so on. You seem to be a reasoned liberal thinker. But what your not seeing is the great deceit that is underlying the progressive movement. For example Obama’s health care debate. He has stated clearly in the past that he is a proponent of a single payer system, all in, none out. Then denies that he’s for that. It may be too late before you “see it”.

    Obama’s ‘authoritarian media practices’ slammed

[All freedom-loving Americans and independent-minded journalists must be concerned about the authoritarian actions practiced in recent days by Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign, which cut off future interviews to a local news network after its anchor dared to ask legitimate but pressing questions to Democrat vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden.

The boycott move is a direct threat to what little is left of America’s free press, highlighting to reporters the ramifications of questioning the Obama campaign on issues it doesn’t want to talk about.

As a Mideast reporter, I’ve seen this kind of action before. It’s routinely practiced by Middle East dictators and has resulted in an intimidated press corps which toes the jihadist line, in part out of fear of having their contacts cut off.

    [..]

The type of media oppression evidenced by the Obama camp is regularly practiced in the Middle East, where (excluding Israel) independent journalism is virtually nonexistent. Most media outlets in my neck of the woods are state run. [..]

The outlook for the already grim future state of reporting
during an Obama administration just faded to black.]

“So observing how well or how poorly the public option or trigger or whatever we get works will not help all thinking make a better guess at how well single payer might work?”

No, the reality is that it will not. Medicare and Medicaid, when they were first implemented, were promoted as a means to lower the overall cost of health care–instead, the costs of health care have gone through the roof. That there are extenuating circumstances–technological breakthroughs, research and development, and a large pool of taxpayer money to draw from–is beside the point. These programs have not done what they promised to do, which is lower the cost of health care overall.

The healthcare/ health insurance argument is also a red herring created by the administration right now. No one who supports the public option wants to deal with the fact that the country is BROKE–the govt. has $12 trillion in debt and wants to raise the “debt ceiling” (what good is having a debt ceiling if it’s going to be raised regardless?), and there is $50 trillion in debt across the entire country; Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are going to run out of revenue within the next ten years.

And supporters of the public option think that we can provide complete and total health care for 23-49 million people (a number that will skyrocket once businesses drop their plans and tell their employees to get on the government plan), and that it will be “cost-neutral” and won’t add to the debt? They are lying or living in fantasy land. The math and history are completely against them.

Your argument that this is something that will be on a “trial basis” is completely naive if sincere. Once implemented, it will either stay as a “public option,” or single payer, no matter the cost or how effective it actually is. The only thing that would remove it from the government budget would be the complete collapse of the national infrastructure which, the way we are heading with our debt obligations, isn’t the tin-foil proposition it would have been even 4 years ago.

Ultimately, supporters of the public option don’t care about health care reform–they merely want a third party to provide them with every healthcare remedy known to man at no cost to them. Well, I want a Ferrari Testarossa, but if I want the best, I have to pay for it. The same applies to healthcare.

Remember that this is America and President Barack Obama has the constitutional right to defend himself against accusers. He has the right of free speech too. Whether he is right or wrong, he’s permitted to state his opinion.

Chris, thanks for the actual rebuttal. I’m no economist and can’t speak to whether the proposed plans will cost or save us money, but if I had to bet, I’d bet you’re correct there. As to Medicare and Medicaid, they may have been promoted as ways to reduce costs, but their primary mission was to provide health insurance for people who didn’t have it or had a hard time affording it. And this they have done.

You misread and misquote me in regards to the public option being passed on a trial basis. I agree that once passed, it will remain in one form or another unless it’s a complete disaster, and even then, vested interests being powerful, it would probably be tough to dislodge.

And I’m one supporter of the public option who doesn’t want something for nothing.

    bottom line:

one can lead Joe etal to knowledge,
but one cannot make Joe etal think..

    bg,

    I do agree with you.
One’s capacity to think through any number of situations/scenarios that invade our horizons does not necessarily have to be yoked to a particular level of academic acheivement. I am actually amazed that the thought-product or the process of thinking of so many folks with what appear to be the highest level of educational credentials is, in fact, so pathetically mediocre. But, as Joe, maybe in the heat of dispute, appealed to education, or its lack, as a measure of the thinking of those whose opinions he was disputing, I was interested in the specific content of something he seemed to place great stock in, at that moment in the argument, as the means to convey his own positions to the tippety top, namely his own comparative educational credentials. No big deal. Hey, for all we know, Joe may very well have attended the Archmere Academy, U. of Delaware, and then Syracuse University College of Law! Who am I to argue with a mind like that?

Rachel Maddow right now is noting that Bush II never did one interview with the NY Times in 8 years, froze out liberal journalists and MSNBC, and had a big meeting with right-wing radio hosts. Maddow is considerably to the left of me on many issues, but to her credit she says that Bush had the right to do this.
