Barack Obama will skip the 20 Year celebration of the Fall of Communism that will be held in Berlin on November 9. Rick Moran at American Thinker has more on this news from Contentions:

President Obama has reportedly informed the German government that he will not travel to Berlin on November 9 to participate in the 20th-anniversary celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is an unfortunate decision on multiple counts.

First, it is another slight to another European ally — one that is going all-out to celebrate the event. The invitation to Obama was extended personally by Chancellor Angela Merkel last June.

Second, it is a failure to correct the historical misstatement of his citizen-of-the-world address last year in Berlin, when he credited the fall of the wall to the “world standing as one” and failed even to mention the names of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

Third, it is an embarrassment for the United States not to be represented at the highest level for the commemoration of an event of this magnitude. As Matt Welch writes in the November issue of Reason magazine, November 1989 was “the most liberating month of arguably the most liberating year in human history” — the end of the Soviet Union and communism in Europe and a 50-year Cold War that was a worldwide ideological battle. It was battle led by America.

Fourth, it is an opportunity for Obama to give a speech in which he does not apologize for his country but celebrates the triumph of freedom that has been the driving force of American history from its beginning through his own election.

Barack Obama is not interested. But he is planning on flying to Europe to pick up his prestigious Nobel Peace Prize.

This is just par for the course for Barry. Remember he wants to FUNDAMENTALLY change America. He is doing this by destroying the values and morales that made us the best in the world. This is all due to his HATE for America. I am not suprised.

I think this is a huge mistake, globally and domestically. Internationally, it sends (rather reiterates) the message that the United States no longer holds the values of freedom and democracy with as firm a grasp… Domestically, it symbolically drives yet another nail into the newest home of communism.

For anyone keeping track, we are rapidly running out of allies we have not shunned

But he gives away billions of dollars (our money, not his) every where he goes. He would offer to rebuid the wall and send his jackboots to help communism enslave the people, again. Hate was a word I never used and never allowed my children to use. Now I hate democrats, all democrats. That includes not stopping for a car crash if I see a demorat (Boucher, Webb, Warner, O’Dumbo) sticker on the vehicle and I have a complete EMT/EMS kit in my truck at all times.

    shoot…try again :)

he wants to put a similar type of government in America so it would be impossible for him to celebrate communism’s fall…but apparently with whats happening today, communism didnt fall and die, it fell and morphed and came to America with swords in hand.

    Off Topic:

It seems our friends in Nevada need some support in the coming years…

“”Reid plan: ‘Vaporize’ 2010 GOP opponent”"

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is prepared to run a sharply negative campaign if that’s what it takes to win reelection next year, with a top adviser predicting that the Nevada Democrat will “vaporize” his Republican challengers with attack ads.

Trailing in the polls and under constant attack from the GOP, Reid’s campaign has just launched a warm-and-fuzzy million-dollar ad campaign to reintroduce the veteran senator to his constituents. But Reid’s team also wants to be the one that introduces lesser-known opponents to the electorate — and will be ready, when the time comes, to unleash a torrent of ads branding challengers as untested and unprepared for the job.”

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20091020/pl_politico/28490

Turn the tables on Reid…he needs to go…retire already…and let the nation heal with a new representative for Nevada. :)

I wouldn’t be too sure that America will have an election in 2010. If Obama thinks the democrats will lose power in the House, he may just call the election off….then what are the American people going to do about it. It isn’t like Obama believes elections should take place at set times, which he makes clear in one of his books. I posted the quote and link on another thread.

Martin, this President and his support base seek to reduce America — the nation that has done more to promote peace and prosperity than any other — to the least-common-denominator of international standing.

They might not “hate” America, but they sure have a disdain for the principles that facilitated said promotion.

The world will be worse off, should they prevail.

But you and your ilk don’t care … not as long as a fellow self-worshiper is in charge, so you are free to indulge in your pet vice … while imposing your morality upon others by the force of law “for their own good”, even when it is counterproductive to your own aims.

Merkel is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“Few have noted the fact, as reported by analyst Christopher Story, that “Angela Merkel was an activist in the East German Communist Party, and while she was attending Karl Marx University in East Berlin, she was the secretary for agitation and propaganda in the Communist Youth Wing operating in that establishment.

“The East German secret police, the Stasi, operated throughout the Cold War period as a foil and substitute for the pan-German Nazi Abwehr (military counterintelligence), today’s dvd [Deutsche Verteidigungs Dienst—German Defense Service]. Merkel is almost certainly a ‘former’ Stasi operative” (Global Analysis, Dec. 2, 2007). ”

I am really not surprised by this. FDR is the reason why we had the Cold War to begin with. He gave Stalin everything he wanted in order for his ‘commitment’ to be a ‘partner’ in a ‘world of peace and democracy.’ No wonder the left doesn’t want to risk the chance of awakening those dormant memories.

The cost of this ‘partnership,’ which Stalin backed out of right away, was blood. Roughly 30,000,000 civilians and unarmed combatants, primarily Germans (16,000,000), ‘repatriated’ Soviet POWs (5,000,000), Poles (4,000,000), Ukrainians (2,000,000) and Japanese (1,000,000) were deported against their will, often leading to their death, the fate of 6,000,000 of the above. In the case of the Germans and Poles, most had lived on the land in question for in excess of 600 years.

This had FDR’s approval, it couldn’t have happened without it. The US president with the most blood on his hands is the hero of the left…go figure.

I knew a lot of leftists at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. They were not happy. They had been forced over the years to publicly condemn “the excesses” of the Soviets, but in truth they never really lost their affection for Soviet-style systems of government. Talking to them, it was very clear that they felt no joy at the fall of the wall.

Martin if you look at a chart of the dollar you might see that who really hurt the dollar was FDR. You may also want to look into how his and other libtard policies contributed more to the dollars decline then a worthless war that prevented genocide in 1 country and kept terrorists off balance in another.
The biggest problem you libtards have is facts and like the messiah you have a hard time with factual graphs and figures.

[First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.]

    Solaratov,

Martin is a troll. His sole purpose here is to parrot lib talking points and to try to derail the thread. He has not exhibited one iota of intelligence.

re: [How about fighting a worthless war]

    which war is that??

the war that Bush won or the war that Obama’s losing??

It Has Always Been The Soldier

    It is the soldier,
not the President who gives us democracy.

    It is the soldier,
not the Congress who takes care of us.

    It is the soldier,
not the Reporter who has given us Freedom of Press.

    It is the soldier,
not the Poet who has given us Freedom of Speech.

    It is the soldier,
not the campus [community] Organizer who
has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate.

    It is the soldier,
    who salutes the flag;
    who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.

~ Father Dennis O’Brien, US Marine Corp. Chaplain

    God Bless America!

God Bless Soldiers everywhere for putting THEIR
lives on the line to protect us ALL from terrorism!

    Cap-And-Trade For Babies?

[An environmental writer mainstreams an idea floating around the green fringe — save the earth by population control and give carbon credits to one-child families. Are we threatened by the patter of little carbon footprints?

It's long been a mantra on the left that people are a plague on the earth, ravaging its surface for food and resources, polluting its atmosphere and endangering its species. Now we are endangering its very climate to the point of extinction. Even the result of our breathing — carbon dioxide — has been declared by the EPA to be a dangerous pollutant.

Treaties like Kyoto and the upcoming economic suicide pact to be forged in Copenhagen have focused on the instruments and byproducts of our civilization. Now the focus is shifting increasingly to the people who built it.

    [..]

This brave new world is not too far-fetched for science adviser John Holdren, who has advised taking population control to quite another level. He has at various times advocated forced abortion and sterilization and views people as a burden, not as the ultimate resource, as we do.

In a recently rediscovered book, “Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,” co-authored with Malthus fans Paul and Anne Ehrlich, Holdren wrote that families “contribute to general social deterioration by overproducing children” and “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility.”

Holdren envisions that a “Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries’ shares within their regional limits … the Regime would have some power to enforce the agreed limits.” In other words, China on steroids.]

dang, i wish i could find that video about how “Green Government aka: Global Warming aka: Climate Change” will be at the center of the New World Order..

(btw, the color green stands for environmentalism as well as Islamism..)

As one who lived through the years of resisting communism. I am disgusted – and I am not an American. (Irish)
Is there any possibility that some prominent politician – or even a citizen – can go there to represent not the American government, but the American people?
He/she will not be on the official platform, but he/she will be there in the world’s eye.

Martin … preventing Saddam & Sons from turning Iraq into a high-tech/cash-rich Afghanistan 2.0 is hardly “worthless” …

… however, as for the dollar, the slide coincides with the takeover of Congress by the Dims … just as the good times of the 1990’s coincided with the takeover of Congress by a conservative GOP; problem is, they didn’t stay that way.

If you can’t think past the talking points, guess what makes you ….

Obama is a Marxist, he never has been seen to criticize the old Soviet Union or Red China. He and his cronies compliment Castro and Chavez. He will remake this country in into a communist totalitarian state given the time. He has 3 years to accomplish this. We will resist until then. Then vote him out. The country will never make this mistake again. This is a valuable lesson for America but, that will be all it is. Obama will never prevail.

Why would he celebrate his communist background and this is his “party” of choice. He wouldn’t want to celebrate the demise of that party. No surprise.

    He isn’t going because:

    1) He couldn’t possibly acknowledge or validate that an evil Republican like Reagan accomplished something great

    2) That something Great by Reagan was far more deserving of the Nobel Prize than anything Obie could ever HOPE to do

    3) America is a fabulous country

    4) OMG – celebrate the fall of communism while trying to bring it to the US?

    5) He needs sleep to go kiss some ass in Asia to try to get them to buy more of our debt.

Folks, let’s just wait till Obama has to tax the crap out of Martin and other people like him. It’ll happen, because that’s the only direction Obama’s “ideas” will go.

They’ll sind a different tune then.
