The Susan G. Komen Foundation reversed their decision and will now allow Israeli doctors to attend their breast cancer conference in Egypt.
Atlas posted this update:
Sufficient pressure was applied and the decision has been reversed. I was just advised by Doctors Against Racism
Thank you for contacting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. We have new information from our founder, Nancy Goodman Brinker, on this situation.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Pleased to Announce Egyptian Events to Welcome All Advocates, Including those from Israel
Statement from Nancy Goodman Brinker, Founder, Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Breast cancer advocates from the United States and across the Middle East are meeting in Egypt from October 21-27 for breast cancer awareness events. There have been reports that some of the invited participants would not be allowed to attend these events. Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now received confirmation that all advocates, regardless of their country of origin, are invited to fully participate in events to bring breast cancer to the forefront of public discussion in the Middle East.
After we received the initial report on the situation, we launched a diplomatic effort to ensure they would be able to participate. I am pleased to report that our efforts led to confirmation that all advocates would be welcome to participate in the events.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure remains steadfast in our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
More… Reader K. Solomon added:
HUGE thanks to Ms. Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs) for starting the ball rolling, Mr. Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) for accelerating the task at hand, Ms. Joyce Kaufman for the on-air “calmly voiced monologue” and each of you for doing your part in helping some sanity to reign.

“Susan G. Komen for the Cure Pleased to Announce Egyptian Events to Welcome All Advocates, Including those from Israel”
“Including those from Israel”? Gee Thanks!!!! Jews should boycott the event…of course they are better than that.

Well, we all know that Muslims refuse medical advances pioneered by Jews anyway, right?
Right?

That’s good. I went right to their website when I read about this situation and expressed my displeasure.

Well, given that cooperating with boycotts against Israel is a violation of US law, maybe they got a bit of legal advice. And yes, the law affects all US citizens and US organizations throughout the world. What got them in trouble was the rescinding of the invitation at the request of the Egyptian government.

I noticed a lot of hits on my Susan Komen post today. One in particular from the Susan Komen foundation’s morning blogsearch, and one in the afternoon from Cairo, Egypt. Thanks to all who spread the word.

Kudos to Pam-Atlas Shrugs. She has some powerful clout as she shines the spotlight on these despicable issues and people. She states the truth and then all hell breaks loose as people are horrified at her disclosures of creeps who pretend to be righteous.

That is welcome news. Israeli doctors have the same ideals and goals as all the other doctors in the world. Let’s eradicate breast cancer!

Somewhat unrelated:
Geert Wilders was at Columbia University, Philadelphia.
Here are the videos of his speech: http://www.pi-news.net/2009/10/geert-wilders-rockt-die-columbia-universitaet/
There were protests against him at Temple University, following the typical left wing strategy: not letting your opponent state his arguments, booing him, etc.
The original article on PI calls Wilders “the Dutch freedom fighter”.

S Komen is also tight with planned parenthood. One of the leading causes of breast cancer is having abortion in a woman’s history.
Komen can’t share this research with women.

The sad thing is that Israelis were banned in the first place.

Great job in getting this story out there! I still won’t support the Komen foundation, not until they embrace the medical research that links breast cancer and abortion.

The Kommen foundation should have changed the venue when they got the news. If this kind of prejudice isn’t a wake up call to all who believe the arab world will ever accept Israel, it should be. This is the country who participated in the only land for peace deal. Anwar Sadat was killed for it, Jimmy Carter still doen’t understand the underlying irrational hatred, and the medical director of Egypt simply endorsed current national sentiment. Surprise?

I was pretty disturbed to find that Komen affiliates donate loads of money to Planned Parenthood. LifeSite news reported $726,445 was given to them in 06-07. They claim the money is only for breast cancer screening, but it doesn’t matter where the money goes, if it’s going to PP, its supporting the culture of death. Why can’t they give money to BirthRight to do free screenings?

You will do anything to drive traffic to your blog…your credibility is shot.
You report in your headline that Komen reversed decision…as if they had made the decision in the first place.
All the news I have read (including j-post) states it was Egyptian Health Minister Hatem el-Gebaly that had decided Israelis would not be allowed to attend.
YOUR SELFISH MOTIVATION has harmed a noble effort against cancer. You are no better than Egyptian Health Minister Hatem el-Gebaly.
May your writings remain un-read.

I hope that in the future the Susan G. Komen organization will let everyone know that all races, religions, representatives of all countries must be invited to conferences on Breast Cancer. Certainly, the Komen fund is the leader in all aspects of Breast Cancer information and research.
Any conference for diseases, health information, tc. should be open to everyone period.
