un
For the first time ever the United Nations will investigate the United States for human rights violations.
Newsreal Blog reported:

For those of you who have never even heard of a “Special Rapporteur,” you may be surprised to find out that one has been appointed by the United Nations (UN), under a special mandate from the UN Human Rights Council (the successor to the corrupt and anti-Israel UN Commission on Human Rights), to open a probe—for the first time ever— into human rights violations by the United States because of a perception that there isn’t enough affordable public housing in urban areas.

Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman reports that Raquel Rolnik, a Brazilian urban planner and the UN’s choice for the task, will be investigating issues of concern to the UN vis-à-vis the United States, including public housing, homelessness and foreclosures. As part of her fact-finding mission, she will visit New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Washington, a South Dakota Indian reservation, and Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She will then compile a report on her findings, which will be submitted to the UN General Assembly and the UN Human Rights Council in March.

The United States is the largest single donor to the United Nations accounting for 25% of its budget.

Excellent! The timing is perfect. If Obama doesn’t oppose this, it will add to the electorate’s perception that he’s ceding our sovereignty to the “world community.”

Obama can’t afford to have that perception be reinforced, but it looks like his buddies in the UN are as clueless about PR as he is. Ha!

The problem with public housing in urban areas is well, show me by majority of percentage a public housing area that doesn’t turn into a drug zone/gang zone. So we need more of that? And since when is the US under investigation by the UN for this, when there is homelessness and foreclosures all over the world? Since when is it a governments job to provide affordable housing to those who want to live in slums, drug zones, gang zones, and off welfare and food stamps for a living? Socialism at its best. Guess the UN is trying to help Obama spread the wealth…. lets see how he handles this one….

We are having the UN investigate our housing issues? Give me a break – there are more important things to consider in the world than housing in America. Like Burma, North Korea, Rwanda, Sudan, etc.

OK guilty of running a democracy, allowing different elasticities to share power, and promoting goodness and technological advancement. Guilty as charged.

UN likes Murderous Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and these Castros. They love Al Qu’aeda’s torture programs: these are what the UN loves. These are the standards the UN aspires too.

Meanwhile in Egypt a female TV host was given 50 lashes for a male guest on her show talking about sex. Of course this is not a human rights violation because according to the UN women are not humans and have no rights.

Ever see the movie Red Dawn ?

Those places weren’t chosen for housing possibilities and it’s not an investigation either, it’s in-place scouting for future Blue Helmet ground ops.

Google Earth can only show so much.

Those big cities mentioned and DC need to be put down per the UN mandate of total control…. New Orleans is a major central port that has to be secured…… the Indian Reservation and Wilkes-Barre are throw-away’s and a distraction to make people think the ‘affordable housing’ thing is real.

The untold millions of people around the world that live in squalor and servitude. do you think she will uncover the scams that the minority leaders in the US have perpetrated on their people ? Let’s call this what it is: leftist gesticulating for a bunch of jihadist slime in Guantanamo.

No word yet on their victims — the young girls who had acid thrown in their faces, the women who were brutally subjugated under the Taliban, or the voters who had their noses and ears cut off.

These terrorists were not picked up while gardening or painting their living rooms. They were caught red-handed with either grenades, guns, or rocket launchers. The UN is a moral wasteland.

“President of the UN”? There is no such position. And what makes you think China, Russia, Iran, France, Germany, and Britain will voluntarily cede their sovereignty to Obama? That’s a truly absurd contention.

Obama is such an arrogant, incompetent buffoon that he’s alienating everyone, including France.

    http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-43390720091023?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

Why would the French support giving Obama power over their country? Explain that, please. And it looks like the climate treaty isn’t going to happen, either:

The comprehensive climate change treaty that for years has been the goal of the Copenhagen conference was now an “unrealistic” prospect, Yvo de Boer, the UN official guiding the process, said last week.

Chinese and Indian resistance to mandatory carbon emission limits has so far proved an insurmountable obstacle to crafting a successor to the Kyoto Protocol that is acceptable to the US. America has also slowed the process through its reluctance to accept climate change science or the carbon cap-and-trade mechanism to combat global warming.

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6888165.ece

And since it also looks like Obama can’t “steal” the vital elections such as the upcoming race for the governorship of Virginia, you’re wrong about pretty much everything you say, Craig. What a surprise!

Human rights violations? By all means investigate the 1944-1953 period when FDR sunk to the level of Stalin in order to appease him. Let his true legacy be exposed and let the shame come crashing down on the far left. 30,000,000 civilians deported…..6,000,000 dead, the blood on America’s ‘hero of the left.’ Oh and this all happened following the UN declaration as well as numerous wartime treaties….seems like the left only cares about them if they affect the misunderstood jihadists.

China and India agree to cooperate on climate change policy

Yup. They agree to cooperate with each other in thwarting the agenda that the Europeans are trying to impose of them. From your article, Craig:

It is unclear, however, whether a suitable formula can be found in time to persuade India, China and the United States to sign up at Copenhagen. Preparatory talks last month in Bangkok ended in acrimonious squabbles.

“Time is running out,” said Yang Fuqiang, the director of the climate change and energy programme of WWF China. “It’s possible that all we will get at Copenhagen is a political declaration and an agreement to extend the process.”

Anybody care to predict how Craig will spin it when no climate treaty is signed in Denmark? My own guess is that he’ll say this is part of Obama’s evil, genius plan to keep us all off guard, and that we’re dooooooooooomed unless we Throw the Bum Out.™

Remember, Craig said that Obama would bail out California and then the rest of the country, which didn’t happen, of course. Have any of Craig’s dire warnings come true? I can’t think of one.

The Democrats are about to lose the vital governor’s race in Virginia. If Obama is so all-powerful, why is he letting that race go to the GOP? Also, the White House just announced that even after they spend the rest of the stimulus money in 2010, it won’t create any more jobs. I thought the foolproof plan was to buy all the votes they needed with that money.

When does Obama start showing how brilliantly evil and unstoppable he is?

hmm, wonder if this will be on their list..

    Denying the Green Revolution

[You won't hear it from the Obama administration, but there's still a revolution going on in Iran.

Massive protests—which began in June following the sham election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad—persisted last month on Quds Day, when the government attempted to orchestrate nationwide anti-Israel marches. Refusing to follow the regime's script, marchers chanted "Death to Russia" and "Death to China" instead. (Russia was the first country to recognize Ahmadinejad as president in June, and China maintains rich commercial ties with Tehran.) State television abruptly stopped airing the marches.

Two weeks ago, the Islamic Republic sentenced three people to death for participating in the post-election protests. Meanwhile, dissidents continue to be tortured and raped in Iran's prisons.

[..] Iranian dissidents challenging the regime’s legitimacy are thus being treated as obstacles to statecraft.]

sort of how their American counterparts are treated..

Doesn’t anybody remember when the UN did this very same thing before?

It’s been a bunch of years ago; but they sent a rapporteur to the USA to travel around and look at our slums and tell us how bad they were. They did, and then they went away and nothing was ever done about it and no further mention was ever made of it.
I guess they can get away with doing this because the USA is the only country which publicizes it’s areas of sub-standard housing (to be kind), then engages in periodic orgies of self-flagellation because of them and (sometimes even) tries to do anything to correct the problems.

Of course, this time we have obama. But even barry won’t be able to correct the problems. Just look at his track record on public housing, helping “his people” and catering to his crooked pals in Chicago.

This is nothing more than an exercise to embarrass the USA (and let obama toss some millions to his Chicago cronies). It’ll disappear down the black hole just like the other times.

For example, Craig, you said that Glenn Beck didn’t cover the 9/12 March. I provided links to video that showed Beck covering the march all day. You refused to look at the links, which simply showed clips from the Fox News Channel.

The links I provided have no political agenda. They’re neither liberlal nor conservative. They simply provide video proof that Beck covered the march all day. For you to say that those links are somehow invalid is ridiculous, childish, self-serving spin that fools nobody.

You’re incapable of responding to challenges. I, on the other hand, welcome challenges and always meet them. You’re an absurd child; I’m not.

I don’t really doubt that – even with China and India opting out – the US representative will sign the treaty. I’d bet on it.

But then, it becomes necessary for the treaty to be ratified by the senate — and I don’t think that too many in that chamber want to put their re-election on the line for that.

Publicizing and explaining the contents of the treaty to the people will result in even more outrage and demonstrations than even the imperial senate can ignore.

We may get penciled in on the treaty – but it’ll never make it through ratification.

Like Steveegg, the Grove Parc disaster entered my mind when I read of this “investigation.” But with a different twist.

BO failed to bring the Olympics to Chicago for his cronies. The heck with the games, it was all about making his pals richer.

They had hoped to raze the housing projects they’d built (that were deemed uninhabitable in record time) in order to build Olympic sites.

Valerie Jarrett, the Obama’s best friend and Barry’s closest advisor, oversaw the (lack of) maintenance on many of those projects.

I’d bet Barry suggested this investigation – a second chance to rebuild and bring home the bacon for his pals.

It sure would be great if instead it exposes the corruption of that Chicago crowd. But this is the UN, remember. Barry’s got to be counting on fellow crooks standing with him.

This discussion is interesting….and reminds me of how the UN operates. Now to address some points….

Firstly is the birther conspiracy. It is insane on its face. As I have said before, if there was any legitimacy to it, the Clintons would have picked up on it and hammered it home during the primaries. The Clintons are obsessed with one thing–power and aren’t actually discrete with those who get in their way. Why this took off so much, I don’t know. Perhaps it was due to the alien political philosophy, and the denial that the US could create people who thought like that. Perhaps it was due to the white-washing of Obama’s history by the campaign and press or a combination of both.

As for the conspiracy itself, those who fall for it are falling into Obama’s trap. In short you are becoming his useful idiots. This movement is used both as a divide and conquer technique and is used to label conservatives as brain-dead conspiracy nuts. When people dig in their heels to believing this, it only makes such labels seem more accurate and increases the rift between the logical and illogical.

Usually it’s the left which is in on conspiracies, such as the ‘truther’ movement, that TWA flight 800 was downed by a missile, that McVeigh had help in his bombing, that the moon landings were staged, that the rich and the corporations are scheming to take everything they can from the ‘workers’ and so fourth.

“- I believe your government is corrupted (all three branches).
    - You still believe you have “checks and balance”. ”

Congress is immune to the ‘public option’, I can rest my case there for corruption. Reminds me of the Communist countries where the dictator and high ranking party members lived like the king and nobility they deposed while the rest of the population continued to live like peasants–only worse off than before. Increasing their pay during a recession is just icing on the cake. The supreme court has found information which is not included in the constitution–something else which reeks of corruption.

“- I believe he is evil.
    - You believe he is just stupid.”

Carter is the definition of stupid, he has/had no clue on economics, foreign policy or domestic policy (i.e., energy) yet the hard left still looks to him for support. I rest my case there. Obama on the other hand is a hard left ideologue who, like the Atheists and Watermelons or ‘eco-socialists’ is more concerned with forcing his views on everyone he controls than he is maintaining popularity and power in the long run.

“- I believe Fox News are sellouts.
    - You believe they are on your side.”

Umm yeah. This is some grand conspiracy with Fox willing acting the part of the ‘bad guy’ in order to spread misinformation? This reminds me of a web page I stumbled on years ago, one I wish was still in operation given how one could use it’s content to mock conspiracy nuts.

That site stated that there was an international ‘Jewish conspiracy’ against the Nazis were by they were trying to destroy the ‘Aryan State.’ According to this ‘theory’, FDR, Eisenhower, Churchill and Stalin were all Jewish and all in league to fake the Holocaust in order to defame and destroy the ‘moral’ Nazi state. In short, complete BS. Just as much BS as man-made global warming.

Also, you gave a figure of 2,000,000….photographic analysis shows the figure to be 750,000 or so with regard to the, in your own words ‘fake’ 9/12 event which is somehow a ‘ploy’ by Beck to divide and conquer I assume?

Oh, and thank you for providing more examples of your inability to comprehend simple English or perhaps a desire to see only what you wish to see: “Long-standing” does not always mean “first” which is why used “long-standing” instead of first. Actually, you were the one to start ranting about fanclubs so I guess that makes *you* the first fanclub member, though I think crystal may have been the first to embrace it to mock your delusions.

Obama’s costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts, which is at least $30 billion over and above the exorbitant and wasted sums we already give away overseas.

The bipartisan bill would require the president “to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”]

Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty in
    Copenhagen, Claims British Lord Monckton

[Question: The current administration and the Democratic majority in Congress has shown little regard for the will of the people. They’re trying to pass a serious government agenda, and serious taxation and burdens on future generations. And there seems to be little to stop them. How do you propose we stop Obama from doing this, because I see no way to stop him from signing anything in Copenhagen. I believe that’s his agenda and he’ll do it.]

As I said, the treaty in Copenhagen may, indeed, be signed – but it still needs to be ratified by the senate; and it’s doubtful that they’ll do that so close to the 2010 election.

And, if it is ratified, it can easily be abrogated (much the same way that the Russians have abrogated any treaty that didn’t serve their purpose). So the world gets mad at us and calls us names. So what’s new?

If obama signs the treaty and pushes for ratification by the senate, all he will do is show the American people that he really *does* want to trade off American sovereignty. That won’t help him in 2012.

And the “global poverty act” is also easily handled. It can become law, but if the money is not appropriated, it won’t be given away. No matter who is president after ‘12, congress still controls the purse strings. No appropriation = no expenditure.

Soon the Usurper will probably be nominated the President of U.N

Hasn’t he already been given the post of leader of the UN just a month or so ago? Conflict of interest but hell, he’s still campaigning too. This vile pantywaist is enough to make sane people gag. Can we have someone else as pretendident now? We are all sick of this weak serial liar. Send his ass back to Jakarta.

How funny is it, that a woman from Brazil is doing investigations on human rights/housing in the USA.

The same Brazil that is right now, in the grips of fierce pitched battles, between drug gangs and the police. In the shanty towns, in and around Rio.

The drug gangs even shot down a police helicopter, killing two officers.

She should be home looking for ways to improve her own country, not tossing rocks around the USA.

Can’t wait to see the Olympics in Rio.

Kevlar will be all the rage.

That’s a scary thought, One Way. Of course, in Chicago, truly public housing hasn’t had any more success (cough…Cabrini Green…cough).

As Rob points out, Brazil doesn’t exactly have clean hands on its shantytowns, and yes, unlike America, those ARE shantytowns.

Why are we giving money to an organization that would like to distroy this country. We should request that this organization leave the United States immediately and cease all funding. With over 192 countries as members our support should be no more than 192th of the total cost.

corrupt to the core, protector of dictators the United States should not be associated based strickly on moral grounds.
