Bret Stevens asked the question in The Wall Street Journal yesterday,
“Does Obama believed in human rights?”
…After nine months on the job we have our answer.
In 2007 thousands of democracy activists in Burma (or Myanmar) rose up and protested against the brutal junta in control their country.

Thousands of Buddhist monks marched in the Hledan area of Rangoon back in September 2007. The monks led massive democracy protests against the violent junta. But the protests didn’t last long. The military regime cracked down on the activists killing and imprisoning several thousand men and women for demanding freedom. (BBC)
The regime slaughtered the democracy protesters. They gunned them down in the streets.
This is raw footage of the execution of Japanese journalist Kenji Nagai by the Burmese junta on September 27, 2007.
This coming week the Obama Administration will send a delegation to meet with the killer regime in Burma.
The Age reported:
The United States is preparing to send a rare mission to Burma but warns that its bid to engage the military junta after decades of hostility will be “slow and painful.”
Kurt Campbell, the assistant secretary of state for East Asia, said a team would head to Burma to follow up on talks last month in New York, which marked the highest-level US contact with the regime in nearly a decade. But in testimony Wednesday before a House of Representatives committee, Campbell cautioned: “We expect engagement with Burma to be a long, slow, painful and step-by-step process.”
A Burma official on Thursday confirmed the “fact-finding” trip would take place next week. But the official gave no further details, saying the visit was still in the planning stages.
Campbell did not specify who would take part in the trip. Another senior US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Campbell hoped to go himself but it would depend on whether the junta gives him access to the opposition.

This slumdog can’t meet with the Dalai Lama, who actually EARNED the Nobel Peace Prize 20 years ago, but he can meet with the junta which imprisoned another honoree. It’s rather clear which side of the fence is his.

Didn’t think that Obama had any shame, but even he couldn’t face the Dalai Lama, who was last seen shocking Democrats with his appreciation that the Texas Way was a superior approach in certain cases.
Not a one of those mumble-mouthed peace-nicks seemed to remember how the Dalai Lama left Tibet, that is, what it’s like to be literally running for one’s life.

How has the previous policy of isolating Myanmar done in terms of bringing democracy to Myanmar?
I am all for criticizing the Democrats if they do things that are anti-democratic around the world. But if you look at what our policies towards places like Cuba and Myanmar have actually accomplished, other than miring their people in poverty, it’s hard to identify anything. Before we reflexively criticize them for trying a different tactic, let’s see what they actually do.

Bush off to Beijing with a Myanmar mission
albeit that’s just a mere sample,
you speak as if Bush did nothing..
Bush did many things behind the curtain so to speak..
aah, i suppose one could easily blame the MSM for many things
Bush did or didn’t do, but alas that would be too digressive a task..

Any meetings between the Burma dictatorship and the Obama Administration will probably become a strategy meeting on how to achieve mutual goals.
Obama Administration is probably looking for pointers on how trash current Constitution and replace with new dictatorship.

“Does Obama believed in human rights?”
Of course he doesn’t. There are no human rights in the left wing.
And Nagai wasn’t executed. He was murdered in cold blood and the free world was silent. As usual. Because we have to be tolerant, because we have to be politically correct.
Guess Who, and talking with fascists will change anything? Are you THAT naive? History proves that talking with fascists doesn’t change anything. It proves that things go down the sewer quickly if you reach out to fascists. And Obama is doing exactly that. He’s the Neville Chamberlain of our age.

[...] White House to Meet With Killer Military Regime in Burma ‘Comrade Obama’ never met a repressive government he didn’t like. ‘Faux POTUS’ would like to have the US Government be like so many of his ‘hero governments’, but he doesn’t have the balls to make that move, yet! If the American voter is stupid enough to reelect this ‘Commie Creep’ in 2012 look for the move to be made then. A Lame-duck has nothing to lose and no one to answer to. [...]
