Hey, Claire McCaskill!… Are you paying attention?
Barack Obama’s approval rating dropped to 33% in swing state Missouri. The Campaign Spot reported, via Patriot Room:
Via Soren Dayton, I learn SurveyUSA polls adults in Missouri, and finds Obama at 33 percent approval, 65 percent disapproval among independents, and at 27 percent approval, 67 percent disapproval among those ages 18 to 34.
Wait until they find out he’s drained the US treasury…
Mike Huckabee was on The O’Reilly Factor tonight and took responsibility for releasing cop killer Maurice Clemmons from prison as governor in Arkansas.
Former Governor Mike Huckabee: First of all the tragedy of this, if I could have known nine years ago that this guy was capable of something of this magnitude obviously I would have never have granted the commutation. It’s sickening. The two people in this country that I value the most are soldiers and police officers because they are the only ones standing between our freedom and total anarchy. And, in the case of this particular individual he was sentenced to 108 years for two crimes when he was 16. The post prison transfer board, they recommended to me as governor for his commutation which didn’t release him it simply cut his sentence to 47 years. That would give him parole eligibility. That was the commutation. I am responsible for that and it’s not something I’m happy about at this particular moment.
More… Clemmons reportedly told acquaintances the night before the attack to “watch the news” because he was going to “kill cops.” No one reported his comments to police until after the attack.
Saddam stockpiled weapons in Prague for a terror strike on Radio Free Europe headquarters.
Czech officials confirmed on Sunday that Saddam Hussein had stockpiled weapons, including Kalashnikovs and rocket launchers, for a terrorist attack on the Radio Free Europe Headquarters in Prague in 2003. Radio CZ reported, via Islam in Europe:
On Sunday, TV Nova aired an exclusive report with information that in 1999, Saddam Hussein ordered a terrorist attack that was to strike the Prague headquarters of Radio Free Europe, located at the time on Wenceslas square, in the heart of the city. In 2003, Czech intelligence officers discovered the plot and confiscated the weapons that Iraqi secret agents had stockpiled. Jan Šubert is the spokesman for BIS – the Czech counter-intelligence service.
“The weapons that we secured included 11 pistols, 4 Kalashnikovs, two Heckler-Koch submachine guns with silencers, some 2,000 rounds with magazines, and the most important thing, a portable, anti-tank rocket propelled grenade weapon also known as an RPG-7.”
Saddam Hussein spent significant amounts of money on these weapons, which were to be used in an attack on the US-financed radio station from where programs criticizing Mr. Hussein’s regime were broadcast around the world.
Saddam Hussein had a long history of funding and organizing terror attacks and offering a safe haven and training to terrorists. He also reached out to Al-Qaeda.
The Obama White House still believes in non-existent global warming.
The 2009 hurricane season just ended with zero hurricanes. The Hill reported:
The White House on Monday made exceptionally clear that it wants nothing to do with the furor over documents that global warming skeptics say prove the phenomenon is not a threat.
Despite the incident, which rocked international headlines last week, climate science is sound, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stressed this afternoon, and the White House nonetheless believes “climate change is happening.”
“I don’t think that’s anything that is, quite frankly, among most people, in dispute anymore,” he said during Monday’s press briefing.
Climate change skeptics have asserted over the past week that the publication of more than 1,000 private e-mails and documents once housed in the University of East Anglia’s computer system refutes most modern global warming evidence.
Washington cop killer Maurice Clemmons told Mike Huckabee that he had turned his life around before he was released from prison in Arkansas. The Arkansas Blog reported:
The Seattle Times has posted documents from the state parole board that bear on the decision by Gov. Mike Huckabee to commute murder suspect Maurice Clemmons’ 108-year-prison sentence to immediate parole eligiblity. He said he’d fallen in with a bad crowd after moving to Arkansas, but had turned his life around. He said he’d prayed Huckabee would help him. Circuit Judge Marion Humphrey, who is also a Presbyterian minister, supported the clemency application.
Clemmons wrote in an appeal to Huckabee that he’d been sent to prison after an extended crime spree that started in 1989 when he was a teenager — and that he was a different person now.
At the time of the crimes — which included aggravated robbery, firearms possession and burglary — Clemmons claimed he was 16 years old and had moved from Seattle to a high-crime neighborhood in Arkansas.
“I succumbed to the peer pressure and the need I had to be accepted by other youth in my new environment and fell in with the wrong crowd and thus began a seven (7) month crime spree which led me to prison,” Clemmons wrote in his application to Huckabee.
Clemmons said he came from “a very good Christian family” and “was raised much better than my actions speak (I’m still ashamed to this day for the shame my stupid involvement in these crimes brought to my family name.),” he wrote.
“Where once stood a young (16) year old misguided fool, who’s (sic) own life he was unable to rule. Now stands a 27 year old man, who has learned through ‘the school of hard knocks’ to appreciate and respect the rights of others. And who has in the midst of the harsh reality of prison life developed the necessary skills to stand along (sic) and not follow a multitude of do evil, as I did as a 16 year old child.”
July 10, 2009 – Enrian:
G8 leaders believe there is little time left for dialogue with Iran over its nuclear program, the Italian prime minister said Friday after a summit in Italy’s L’Aquila.
July 16, 2009 - Aljazeera:
The US government has sent a strong message to Iran, saying it is running out of time to engage in dialogue over its nuclear programme to avoid further isolation or even military action.
September 18, 2009 – FOX News:
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that Iran’s refusal to prove that its nuclear intentions are peaceful has “profound consequences” for world security… She also said that time is running out for the country to show it is serious about addressing concerns about its nuclear program.
November 15, 2009 – Reuters:
U.S. President Barack Obama said Sunday time was running out for diplomacy to resolve a crisis over Iran’s nuclear program
November 30, 2009 – Radio Free Europe:
The United States says “time is running out” for Iran to address international concerns about its nuclear program.
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Will this long deliberation, Anne Kornblut, you’ve got the tough question here to start with. Whip around here. It took three months to make this decision. Will he look smart and deliberate for having taken all this time, or will the dithering shot still being cast in by people like former Vice President Dick Cheney, is that still going to hurt?
ANNE KORNBLUT, WASHINGTON POST: The gamble they’re making is that he’ll look smart and he’ll look like the anti-Bush for having thought about it for so long.
JOE KLEIN, TIME: The anti-Bush part is really important because Bush really needed to do a strategy re-evaluation about Iraq six months in there and he never did.
MATTHEWS: Andrea, will it look good if he takes all this time?
ANDREA KRAMER, NBC: I agree. I think it will look good if he takes his time, if taking his time he comes out with something that adds up. If he doesn’t then people will say you took so long and what did you deliver?
DAVID IGNATIUS, WASHINGTON POST: The long period of analysis, very deliberative, robs this of passion. This is, he is going to be a wartime president now, and he has to sell the country on the idea that our young men and women are going to go there, fight and get killed and I think this is not…
MATTHEWS: So, too much Chamberlain and not enough Churchill.
IGNATIUS: Well, too much, too much college professor.
For the record… It’s been at least 93 days since the Ditherer in Chief was asked by his top general in Afghanistan for reinforcements.
Just in time for Christmas…
Sarah Palin is the heroine in the upcoming children’s book, Help Mom! Radicals Are Ruining My Country.
From the author of the bestselling Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!, Katharine DeBrecht, comes Help! Mom! Radicals Are Ruining My Country! – a hilarious and entertaining way for parents to sit down with their children and teach them the origins of the new Tea Party movement and the importance of standing up for liberty and the American Dream.
While the former Governor and Vice Presidential candidate has achieved success with record book sales and support for a 2012 presidential election bid, she has also achieved something else few public figures ever have: heroine status in a children’s book.
In a cameo appearance, “Governor Sarah,” a Palin lookalike character, attempts to help two boys with a struggling swingset business hang onto the American Dream despite high taxes, burdensome regulations and 246 czars in the recently released children’s book Help! Mom! Radicals Are Ruining My Country!, by bestselling- author Katharine DeBrecht.
“I am trying to let all Americans know that these radicals are killing the American Dream and I want to stop them from hurting people that produce products and provide jobs,” the Palin character consoles the frustrated boys.
The killer of four police officers yesterday in Washington eluded officials today after he was thought to be holed up in a Seattle home.
Ex-con Maurice Clemmons at one time faced more than 100 years behind bars. The LA Times reported:
Police surrounded a Seattle house early today, attempting to close in on a 37-year-old landscaper with a dense criminal history who allegedly shot and killed four police officers in a suburban coffee shop.
Police initially said they were unsure whether the suspect, Maurice Clemmons, was wounded or dead, but shortly after dawn they moved in on the house, only to find it empty.
Police said Clemmons, who had been released from the Pierce County jail only a week before Sunday morning’s shootings, may have tried to treat his own wounds or possibly was aided by others.
People who know Clemmons told investigators that he had been shot in the torso.
CAMPUS WARNED: The University of Washington police have alerted students to an unconfirmed report that the suspect in the Lakewood police shootings may have been sighted on or near the campus in Seattle.
India, China, Brazil and South Africa plan to walk out of the international junk science meetings next month in Copenhagen. The Times of India reported:
In an unprecedented move, India on Saturday joined China and two other developing countries to prepare for a major offensive on rich nations at the Copenhagen conference on climate change next month.
The four countries, which include Brazil and South Africa, agreed to a strategy that involves jointly walking out of the conference if the developed nations try to force their own terms on the developing world, Jairam Ramesh, the Indian minister for environment and forests (independent charge), said.
“We will not exit in isolation. We will co-ordinate our exit if any of our non-negotiable terms is violated. Our entry and exit will be collective,” Ramesh told reporters in Beijing.
The move comes after reports suggested that rich nations led by Denmark are trying to set the agenda of the conference by presenting a draft containing a set of specific proposals.
The BASIC countries-Brazil, South Africa, India and China- decided to throw the gauntlet at rich nations by coming up with a counter-draft that will be presented at the conference. They agreed to let China, which initiated the exercise, to present the draft of the developing nations at Copenhagen.
“This BASIC draft fully meets India’s goals and aspirations. We hope it is made the basis of discussions at the conference,” Ramesh said.
Freshman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) wants the US to cut-and-run from Afghanistan.
He will give a speech later today urging the US to bring the troops home.
…What a loon. The Politico reported:
Saying it’s time for Republicans to do more than “take pot shots at ACORN,” freshman Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz will call on President Barack Obama on Monday to bring U.S. troops home from Afghanistan.
Chaffetz’s push for a troop withdrawal — to be unveiled in a speech at the Hinckley Institute of Politics in Salt Lake City — runs counter to the position of House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio and other leading Republicans in Congress. But it also reflects the divisions within the conference about the question of Afghanistan. Chaffetz told POLITICO the issue “has been probably the most difficult one as a freshman in the minority.”
“So much of this is easy, black and white, but Afghanistan is very different and very difficult,” he said.
Chaffetz said he thinks he will “suffer” for the decision and that it would be safer for him politically to stay the course he’s been on.
No doubt he will also unveil his plan to deal with the Taliban/Al Qaeda once we leave and they re-establish control over Afghanistan, right?
Why is it so difficult for some people to understand the danger of this? Was 9/11 not enough? What has to happen to make people want to finish the fight in Afghanistan?
“His plan comes up short. There’s not enough troops, not enough resources and not enough urgency. What President Bush and Senator McCain don’t understand is that the central front in the War on Terror is not in Iraq and never was. The central front is in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the terrorists who hit us on 9-11 are still plotting attacks seven years later.”
Obama also said “we can’t wait” on sending more troops a year ago.
But, that was last year before the election.
Now President Obama is only focusing on an exit strategy in Afghanistan. His democratic colleagues are already talking about surrender.
Today Sarah Palin urged the dithering Commander in Chief to focus on victory in Afghanistan.
From Sarah Palin’s Facebook page:
We head into the Christmas season wishing for leadership in Washington that reflects our commitment to the values and ideals that have built the freest and most prosperous and generous nation on earth.
Heading into December and Tuesday’s announcement of our nation’s strategy in Afghanistan, I ask the President to reassure us that the administration is in this War on Terror to win.
And I’ll pass along the following from Harold B. Estes, a 95-year-old member of the Greatest Generation: “I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.”
Thank you, Mr. President. Please tell us on Tuesday that America is in it to win.
Isn’t this racist?
Somali terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda are using portraits of Barack Obama for their target practice.
Radical Islamist Shebab members ride horses in Mogadishu in September. Al-Qaeda and Islamists fighting to topple Somalia’s government provide “mutual support” to each other, the head of the African Union peacekeeping force has told AFP in an interview. (AFP/Mustafa Abdi)
The recruits gather in scorching desert hideouts in Somalia, use portraits of President Barack Obama for target practice, learn how to make and detonate bombs, and vow allegiance to Osama bin Laden.
Training camps in the lawless nation of Somalia are attracting hundreds of foreigners, including Americans, and Somalis recruited by a local insurgent group linked to al-Qaida, according to local and U.S. officials. American officials and private analysts say the camps pose a security threat far beyond the borders of Somalia, including to the U.S. homeland.
In interviews with The Associated Press, former trainees gave rare details on the camps, which are scattered along desert footpaths, rutted roads and steamy coastal dens. They say the recruits are told the United States is the enemy of Islam.
U.S. and Somali officials say Somalia’s al-Shabab jihadist, or holy war, movement is growing, and uses foreign trainers with battlefield experience from other conflicts.
The threat posed by the training camps was underscored in federal court documents unsealed Nov. 23 in Minneapolis, home to a large Somali-American community. An indictment against several Somali-Americans who allegedly fought in Somalia said trainees at one camp included dozens of ethnic Somalis from Somalia and other African countries, Europe and the United States.
“The trainees were trained by, among others, Somali, Arab, and Western instructors in … small arms, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and military-style tactics,” said an affidavit from FBI Special Agent Michael N. Cannizzaro Jr. that was unsealed with the indictment.
Republican lawmakers are probing Science Czar John Holdren’s links to the Climategate documents.
Obama’s socialist Science Czar John Holdren, who once said that forced abortions were needed to save the planet, is also involved in the Climategate Scandal.
Holdren, another socialist in the White House, was pushing global cooling before he was pushing man-made global warming.
His name is linked to the Climategate scandal. The Wall Street Journal reported:
Congressional Republicans have started investigating climate scientists whose hacked emails suggest they tried to squelch dissenting views about global warming.
An aide to Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.), the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said investigators are studying the documents, which unknown hackers stole last week from the computer of a prominent British climate-research center.
Investigators are focusing on the correspondence of White House Science Adviser John Holdren, he said. Dr. Holdren, a point man for the Obama administration on climate change, sent one of the hacked emails. In the 2003 email, Dr. Holdren, then at the Woods Hole Research Center in Woods Hole, Mass., defended research by Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University, a scientist who believes global warming is man-made and who also sent some of the hacked emails.
On Monday, Dr. Holden said: “I’m happy to stand by my contribution to this exchange. I think anybody who reads what I wrote in its entirety will find it a serious and balanced treatment of the question of ‘burden of proof’ in situations where science germane to public policy is in dispute.”
The aide said investigators are also probing the contributions of dozens of climate scientists to reports published by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The Environmental Protection Agency, in its recent move to boost regulation of greenhouse gases, based its conclusions on IPCC reports.
The IPCC has said the climate is heating up and humans are almost certainly to blame. Those who disagree that the globe is warming, or on the cause or extent of any warming, complain that their views have been excluded.
Today’s elections in Honduras was a huge victory for democracy and a huge embarrassment for the former leftist President Manuel Zelaya and the Obama White House.
Despite calls from Zelaya urging supporters to boycott and protest the vote, the freedom-loving Hondurans turned out in record numbers.
There were long lines in Honduras today. (El Heraldo)
A turnout of more than 60% was expected but unofficial reports claim the turnout was above 70%.
Barack Obama is a big supporter of the leftist Chavez-wannabe Manuel Zelaya.
HotAir has more on the New York Times’ pathetic reporting on today’s elections.
The conservative candidate is expected to win today’s election. The Wall Street Journal reported:
Neither of the two men claiming to be president during the past five months – Mr. Zelaya and interim President Roberto Micheletti – were on the ballot. Instead, Hondurans picked between Mr. Lobo of the conservative National Party and Elvin Santos of the Liberal Party – to which both Mr. Zelaya and Mr. Micheletti belong.
Voters were expected to punish the Liberal Party for the crisis and hand power to Mr. Lobo, who was narrowly beat by Mr. Zelaya four years ago.
“It’s going to be Pepe this time,” said Higenio Garcia Ponce, 74, an agricultural laborer who said he had just voted for Mr. Lobo. “There was a rupture in the Liberal Party over what happened with Zelaya.”
