At least 1,500 rain-soaked fans lined up to meet Sarah Palin at her book signing event at Fort Bragg this morning. Several supporters camped out to meet the former Alaskan Governor.
Several military personnel took photos of Sarah Palin when she arrived at the Fort Bragg today.
WTVR reported:
Hundreds of people are lined up at an Army base in North Carolina where former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is signing books.
Palin arrived a little after 11 a.m. Monday, waved and went inside the store where she quickly started signing copies of her new memoir. She did not make any statement.
An Army spokesmen says Palin will not make a speech, pose for photos, or personalize notes in the books she signs at the on-post store. Officials estimated as many as 1,500 waited for her arrival. About a dozen people camped out.
The Army had worried the appearance would prompt political grandstanding against President Obama. That fear initially led commanders to limit news coverage, though the restrictions were later dropped.
Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren is traveling with Palin, Fort Bragg officials said.
UPDATE: 4,000 fans showed up today at the book signing.

Michael Moore once bragged about selling out “Fahrenheit 911″ at a movie theater in “Fayetteville, home of Fort Bragg.” Except the theater had only 38 seats per screen, so with 7 viewings per day, a daily sell-out was 266 whopping tickets (http://www.moorewatch.com/index.php/weblog/comments/fort_bragging/). Ha!
Go, Sarah!!!

And was she told to not make any speeches, not personalize any books, etc.? Bet if she were a radical bent on destroying the USA she would be accorded all the rights and privileges that a citizen of the USA FORMERLY had.

This is funny I was just listening to John Gibson and a caller stated that only 300 showed up at Fort Bragg for the book signing (oh by the way he got this info from the AP) There ya go folks!

What’s happened to freedom of speech in this country? As a free citizen, it would seem that she could say whatever she’d like to say and not have to worry about the backlash to Obama. Once again political correctness has overtaken common sense, just as the Fort Hood debacle has proven. Political correctness will be, amongst many other things, our major downfall.

The obamao gave the LSM their talking points for Palins appearance at Ft Bragg last week. “You guys make a great photo-op” and the LSM will use it to discredit Palin at Ft. Bragg as just being a photo-op. Even though the photo-op the obamao appeared at was choreographed and the soldiers most likely “volunteered” to attend because of their race.

There is a difference, the former was a photo op, she just has to show, because she is clearly respected from Fayetteville to Greeley
and every place in between.

See the ridiculous Andrea Mitchell attempt to question Palin? (HotAir links) SHe actually flew in and got in line and was trying to push her way thru a cop’s arms, straining to get her head past, pestering Palin with questions while Palin was saying hello to everyone, signing books. Palin kept her in the corner of her eye, then every now and then answered a question Palin WANTED to answer, to get the Palin point of view out.
Just hilarious! The media that so dissed Palin wanted so much to IGNORE her and is now grubbing around in BOOK LINES trying to get face time, despearte for relevence because Palin isn’t the least interested in speaking with them.
Thank you thank you Sarah Palin for proving to everyone that the MEDIA isn’t the official gatekeeper everyone has to grovel to they pass themselves off to be!

Reporters should read the book if they are going to talk about it. No mention of Levi Johnson in the book.

From the link Jim Hoft posted:
After signing books for almost three hours, Sarah Palin rolled out of Fort Bragg this afternoon on her book tour bus.
The signing event ended at about 2:15 p.m., slightly later than scheduled.
Fort Bragg officials said about 4,000 people showed up and as many as 700 were too late to get their copies of the book signed.
You say 300, I say 4000,
Tomayto, tomahto, potato, potahto,
Let’s call the whole thing off…

What she did was exactly right.
She went in and complied in every way with the wishes of the Ft. Bragg command. She didn’t dis obama or any of his policies. She didn’t turn it into a political event/rally. She even went so far as to avoid photo ops and personalizing the books (I suppose because the command thought she’s say something about obama.).
Palin showed, by her actions that she has what obama will never have: C-L-A-S-S.
And, I’ll go with the Ft.Bragg estimate of the crowd rather than that of the ap, thank you very much.

Not a one was there “by invitation only” nor were any people brought in on buses to make up the adoration crowds in attendance.
What a difference in leadership……

Sarah will be here in Dallas (actually a suburb Plano) next Friday. I’m taking the day off to stand in line and hopefully, get an autographed copy of the book and meet her. I can’t believe I’m doing this for a politician, but I really feel like she understands the people. She’s speaking up for those us who don’t have a voice right now. And believe me, we won’t turn her into some type of “idol” like the left has done with President Obama.

Hypogean reading your post I hope I was not giving the impression that I was agreeing with the guy. My point was that this drip quoted the AP which is as about reliable as Kieth Olbermann reporting the truth at a conservative convention.
I’m glad Sarah packed the house in!

We were there. Friends were made. Tea Party interest increased as the line progressed.
Sara made note of a unique leather cloak my sweetheart was wearing and thanked me for my submarine service.
She was warm and very personable in an extremely scripted format. Her genuineness will not be muffled by imposed restrictions.
God Bless you Sara Palin!
You are the real deal!
