Bernie’s got this one right. Americans are only useful tools for implementing their agenda, otherwise they despise us.
I liked his comment about the demographics. It is so true the left are all about the demographics. Anyone who might encroach into the demographic they have claimed for themselves they immediately attack and keep it up; just protecting the territory.

I agree with everthing Bernie had to say, and I agree with Lily’s comment (#5) as well.
It is apparent what they think about middle America showing up at townhall meetings and tea parties.
It’s SHOCKING, I tell you, absolutely SHOCKING this group of people have the audacity to speak up! Well, the elitists on both sides had better get used to it because we aren’t going away, either in 2010 or 2012.

Palin Derangement Syndrome will start morphing into Palin Supporter Derangement Syndrome. You can already see it happening in some of the columns coming out today. HotAir linked to a column named “Our Evita” by some jackass named Eugene Robinson, who kept whinging about how people were still sticking up for Sarah Palin no matter how radioactive he and his clique consider her to be. Lucianne.com linked to a Richard Cohen column that was even more deranged; it insisted that John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin was so obscene that McCain needed to go hide in a monastery for the rest of his life to make up for it.
These people hate Sarah so much, they are starting to lash out at people who are merely connected with her.

Bernie Goldberg is exactly right. I think that’s why I feel the attacks on Palin on such a personal level. I have felt that I too am being attacked which each condescending sneer. These people consider themselves an American aristocracy – and this aristocracy cuts arcross party lines. That is why you see the likes of David Brooks and other Republicans attacking her too. They don’t belittle her because of her politics, but because of her class. With the rise of Palin and others like her, they see their grip on power and influence in peril. And there is nothing so jealously guarded as someone’s privileged place in society.

You are exactly right! I get infuriated when my own family members call her “stupid” without quoting anything she has ever said as stupid other than “the Katie Couric” interview. Then they say Obama is so smart because he went to Harvard! (Even though there is no evidence of that).
I adore Sarah because she says what is also in my own heart and mind and the more these liberal fools spout garbage about her, the more personalized it becomes. Their little ” King-and-his-court” ideology is going to crash and burn real soon.

as a liberal with 5 children, including a down syndrome child, i find it pretty humorous to see how many posters think bernie “hit the nail on the head”. in your self-contained cloister of 24/7 right wing information, it apparently becomes easy to seperate yourselves into the good “us” versus the evil “them”. you create a strawman “liberal” caricature to demonize without really observing the world and your neighbors beyond your own prejudices.
try this on for size. i am a liberal and i know a lot of liberals, like me, who have big families, and down syndrome children, who go to church, who support the entire bill of rights including the 1st and 2d amendments, and who believe in a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” thats not just limited to your narrow view of who is entitled to call themselves a “real american”. the more you sanctimoniously hold yourselves out as such, to the exclusion of your fellow citizens, the more you continue to marginalize yourselves to the kooky and irrelevant political fringe.

I must second Rich’s comment. And, as an unabashed liberal Christian, I must express shock that the kinds of dismissively hateful comments that Goldberg made are being seconded on a purportedly “Christian” blog. You people need to read the Gospels again. And I Corinthians 13, while you’re at it.
For the record: I dislike Sarah Palin because she is deeply unqualified to be president, and yet people are taking her seriously. I dislike her because she is clearly thin-skinned and has been caught in lie after lie but has refused to apologize. I dislike her because she claims to be a populist and spouts a few populist tropes about “Real America” but then goes on multi-thousand-dollar shopping sprees to Saks and Neiman Marcus. I dislike her because she espouses policies that would enshrine bigotry toward sexual and religious minorities and other policies (dictated to her by her neocon handlers) that would bring us to the brink of international holy war.
I DON’T dislike her because she’s pretty, because she likes to shoot guns or because she has a less-than-stellar academic pedigree.

Bernie is an enigma. On one hand, he goes after Fox for shoddy reporting or when Hannity criticizes Obama for rescuing the Captain kidnapped by Somalian pirates. On the other hand, he says that Liberals don’t have large families and abort less than perfect children far more frequently than conservatives, and that Liberals are faithless (dug in deeper tonight on The Factor). That one really irks me.
This is not a rhetorical question…what have conservative politicians supported (as a majority) for special needs children in the last 3 decades? I suspect that there are very few parents with special needs children that oppose public assistance programs for their kids.

Ok I would just like to distinguish something that most of you are missing- there is a bit of difference between disliking middle america and disliking middle america as leaders of our incredibly complex institutions known as the government… a true free-market capitalist would get this pretty quickly- do you want the shop guy running the company? People have roles in society and none are any less important than others.. Sure there are more people capable of fulfilling certain tasks and that may be a difference however not one signifying the fulfillment of the role as less important… This guy is obnoxious and a spreader of hate and disunion.. i could go on and on however I feel the essence of his fault is evident..

Rich said what I was thinking in a much more rational way than I could. Being another liberal with a disabled child (cerebral palsy) it infuriated me to hear this comment, and even more so to see all the support for the comment. All y’all “Real Americans” just don’t get what real America is all about: things don’t just fit into your myopic view.
