At least 7 dead so far and 20 injured at the largest military installation in the world.  I will update this as more info comes available.
hood
At least 7 are dead and 30 were injured after 3 gunmen opened fire on a crowd at Fort Hood in Texas.
Reuters reported:

At least seven people were killed and 12 wounded in a shooting at the Fort Hood, Texas, U.S. Army base Thursday, local media reported.

One gunman was in custody and another was on the loose at the military base, one of the largest military installations in the world, local media reported. There could be a third shooter involved, MSNBC reported.

Via FOX News– The FBI says terrorism was not involved. The shootings began about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at a personnel and medical processing center at Ft. Hood. 6 of the 7 victims were military.

The base is still on lockdown.

MSNBC is already speculating that it’s a mentally ill US Soldier but there’s no evidence of that at this point.  Just the anti-military left’s early talking points

Kxxv - All available EMS units in and around Killeen are being dispatched to Fort Hood where a “mass casualty event” has taken place.

News Channel 25 has learned a shooting has left seven people dead and 12 injured.

The Nolanville Fire Department tells News Channel 25 that they’ve been asked to bring all available EMS and Rescue personnel.

*update* there are reports of 3 gunmen now.  Still holed up at the base.  Shootings still going on. 2 gunmen still on the loose.

*update* Here’s a video update from ABC News

*update* Tom Elia reporting that “shooting started at the House Theater and then moved to an athletic complex.”

*Update* CNN is now saying 12 dead

*Update* US Army Twitter account: @USArmy: Fort Hood officials confirm 12 dead, 31 wounded in Fort Hood shooting. Installation remains locked down.

*update* Breaking News on twitter confirms 2 suspects arrested 1 killed

*Update* CBS affiliate WGME is reporting that all 3 gunmen are US soldiers.

Absolutely tragic. My prayers go out to the victims and their families.

The fact that there are two gunmen signal a planned event, not a “loner” who has snapped.

Let’s wait and see to what we learn about the incident. Let’s not start pointing fingers just yet. We will know the truth soon enough.

A reminder from over two decades of militray intelligence, mentioned by pur previous POTUS to anyone with ears which would hear:
“The War against Islamoterrorism is an ASSYMETRICAL war.” Front lines can be anywhere.
Ft. Hood today became one battlefield in an assymetrical war.

Let our soldiers carry sidearms. Many died and were wounded today because only the bad guys had guns.

Of course the MSM compares the shooting to the Virginia tech shooting, instead of comoparing it to other Muslim soldiers who killed their fellow troopers. We let muslims infiltrate our military, give them affirmative action promotions, and then pretend they are not muslim when they kill us.

Muslims are not Americans, they are Muslims. Their allegience is to the Ummah (world of Islam), not to infidel nations.

    Islam is peace.

“The FBI says terrorism was not involved.”

Wrong FBI, terrorism was involved. The shooter was muslim. He followed the orders of the pedophile prophet: kill the infidels wherever you find them. Fight them. Murder them. They are, after all, comitting the worst possible crime: they are infidels.

Islam is terrorism. Always has been. Always will be.

Recall, anyone, when a Muslim soldier tossed a grenade into the tent of his sleeping brothers?

How about the goofy teenagers on spring break riding around with fireworks, uh, that were really explosives? They were on their way to Ft. Dix.

Or the 5 British soldiers killed days ago with their Muslim “trainee?” Inside job. A lot of checkpoint Charlie action courtesy of Muslims.

The DC sniper was just sentenced to death. Former marine.

Muslims, as Smarty points out, owe their allegiance to the Ummah. they should never be admitted to the military. The shooter was a MAJOR, a major mistake, that is.

My first thought too was Muslim:

A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The official said Hasan, believed to be in his late 30s, was killed after opening fire at the base. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

The official says investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name, or if he changed his name and converted to Islam at some point in his life.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_fort_hood_shooting

The soldier killed at the recruiting office in Arkansas was a mulim convert.

Most any estimate puts at the very least least 1 million Muslims in the US. They are Americans, they aren’t all out trying to destroy the US, and if you forgot we have religious freedom in this country. I for one like our freedoms. When you spout bigotry like that you are no better than the Islamic extremists you espouse hatred for.

Anyway, tragic loss of life :/ My condolences to their families.

Also is it true they weren’t allowed to be armed there? Seems kind of silly. They should probably change that rule if true. I mean we let cops carry guns but not our soldiers??

A stupidly transparent lie. There are thousands of patriotic American Muslims serving in the armed forces today. And there have been several cases of non-Muslim soldiers murdering other soldiers at Fort Hood:

How much more evidence and carnage do we need to prove that we are at WAR with Islam.

We are at war with a branch of Islam, but not all of Islam. One reason that Muslim terrorists carry out attacks is to make you overreact and declare war on all of Islam. By pushing the west into enraged retaliation, they get more recruits and create a wider audience for their arguments.

Muslim terrorists want all Muslims to believe that the west is at war with Islam. Don’t help them with their plans by echoing their talking points.

We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with Muslim terrorists who want to impose their version of Islam on the world. We didn’t overreact after 9/11, so let’s not overreact now.

When I was an Army officer back in the 80’s the army was not so paranoid. I was in Germany for three years and every time I was pay officer, I carried a loaded 1811 .45. The NCO/soldier who was with me carried a loaded M-16. There was always an armed guard at the local bank branch who sat in the corner with a loaded M-16. Our PC culture has made our government and leadership so afraid of guns that we delude ourselves about our safety on military bases. There is no way to keep unauthorized weapons off of these instalations. The controls and regulations only penalize the innocent and the law abiding.

To Seriously: The anger that we “bigots” have is not towards Muslims as a whole group, it’s that we hear so little condemnation from the Muslim/Islamist “leaders” when something like this happens. Instead of denouncing in the strongest terms, more often than not, what I hear is the old victimology song, which I hear strains of in your post. Here’s what we want: CLEAN UP YOUR ACT. March 24 2003

An American soldier is in custody after a grenade attack at a US military camp in Kuwait which killed one of his comrades and wounded 13 others.

He was found hiding in a bunker and arrested after the early morning attack at the heavily guarded camp of the 101st Airborne Division.

The attacker threw three grenades into three tents, including the command tent, at Camp Pennsylvania, one of the desert bases from where US forces have launched an invasion of Iraq, officials said. One soldier was killed, three were seriously injured and 10 other servicemen had superficial injuries, military officials said.

US broadcaster Fox News said the suspect was a Muslim American and that he had been described as “acting strange”.

I work with Muslims everyday, and the folks I know are hard working, community serving, patriotic Americans. This is the work of three guys. If all 1 million Muslims in the US were at war with us, we would know.
The big win for these shooters is if they can drive a wedge between majority America and the 1 million Muslims in the US. Our military needs Muslim soldiers, just like we needed Japanese Americans in WWII. (see 442nd Regimental Combat team, history of)
Let’s learn from our mistakes, it’s why we have such a great nation.

Sadly as the U.S. continues to support diversity for everyone including those groups which hate ALL Americans these Islamic converts will continue to infiltrate the military, police and politics.

To top it off legislation like VAWA and other hate crime type stuff alienates men especially white men and as they feel more and more disenfranchised converts will flock to Islam which as a belief supports men.

I am sure plenty will disregard my warnings as hate speech itself but that will not change the facts that men are feeling more and more left out in the cold and will seek warmth wherever it can be found.

People don’t realize that all muslims have an agenda, they put there religion above there duty to their country. Trust them at your own risk.

He’s a left wing muslim? What a surprise. I wonder who he voted for in 2008… Gun free zones are a joke. Turning MILITARY bases into gun free zones is a terrorist attack waiting to happen. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with allowing law abiding citizens to carry guns on their person. Just look at Switzerland. Everyone there is required to own an assualt rifle which they keep in their residence. No shootings happen. Or the UK. Since all guns were banned in the UK gun crimes have doubled. Allowing more people to own guns and to carry them actually reduces shootings and crime. If more people on the Fort Hood base were armed nowhere near as many people would have been shot by this traitor. End gun free zones. And oh nice. The muslim Fort Hood shooter used to live in my area. A time bomb waiting to explode it seems. And of course if this left wing muslim islamoturd was a right winger the leftist media would be going nuts accusing Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Fox News and others of fostering this kind of extremism. So let’s blame Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Noam Chomsky, MSNBC and the left in general for calling our military actions war crimes and illegal and for generally demonizing our military.

For all of you have yet to read the Qu’ran, I suggest you begin immediately.

There is nothing but bitter fruit to be produced by a cult whose founder, Mohammed, was a warlord, pedophile, mass murderer, and heretic.

What overreaction has occured since 9/11?

Muslims have been allowed to emigrate in droves.

Government funded Islamic schools have opened in virtually every corner of our nation, schools that teach Qu’ranic tenets such as “Jews are monkeys, Christians are pigs.”

Honor killings are on the rise and atlas shrugs is the only outlet keeping track.

The media refuses to report the Somali jihadists WHO LIVE IN MN. Keith Ellison wants to welcome them home.

To all of you who love Muslims, let me add that I love them more, enough to pray and sacrifice for these poor souls every single day.

But I hate Islam. It is a murderous clut that kills apostates. What other “religion” does that?

Muslims behave very differently when they are in the minority. They practice taqqiya, the sacred duty to lie to infidels.

There was an under-reaction after 9/11. That explains the shoot-out last week in a MI mosque. That explains the ever-expanding terror cells in our country, with the FBI informing the terrorists more than vice versa. Wake up. There are no throngs of Muslims in our streets turning over the terrorists in their mosques.

lost this post: Understand the so called moderate Muslim still read and believe the same Koran that the terrorists read.

Having been revealed later in Muhammad?s life than 50:45, 109, and 2:256, the Verse of the Sword abrogates their peaceful injunctions in accordance with 2:106. Sura 8, revealed shortly before Sura 9, reveals a similar theme:

8:39. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do.
8:67. It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

9:29. Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

9:33. It is He {Allah} Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it).

The Quran’s commandments to Muslims to wage war in the name of Allah against non-Muslims are unmistakable. They are, furthermore, absolutely authoritative as they were revealed late in the Prophet’s career and so cancel and replace earlier instructions to act peaceably. Without knowledge of the principle of abrogation, Westerners will continue to misread the Quran and misdiagnose Islam as a “religion of peace.”

Americans killing fellow soldiers when the US Army was involved in the Spanish-American War
or chasing Pancho Villa, or of a African-American soldiers other than a muslim opening fire on fellow soldiers. Millions of Italian and German-Americans served in WW II and no one heard of such behavior in our armed forces. Every group mentioned have served bravely and valorously beyond the call of duty to prove that they were and are loyal Americans. I defy the trolls here to cite one incident where other than a psychologically deranged soldier acting alone has attacked his peers on a miltary base. Three (or more) attackers working together has got to be unprecedented among any ethnic or religious
group other than “peace-loving” muslims. The attack was obviously was organized and planned .
There is little doubt to anyone other than the clueless that the presence of those who adhere to the muslim ideology in our society is more than an unimportant security risk to the American public. Trolls and libs pull your head out of your rectum.
Many of us also recall the muslim loon who shot up a shopping center is Salt Lake City, a islamic nutbar who roared his SUV into a crowd of students in North Carolina, and the jihadist lunatic that killed a woman at a Jewish institution.
Anyone but agendist tool trolls, clueless liberal elites, and the crypto-muslim in the White House should now be able to clearly see the light of reality. Jihadi infiltrators and tools are well established in our own land and with Obozo bringing in 90,000 from killers from Gaza the

“Let us ask if there was ever an incidence of a Japanese -American serving in the military who shot 13 people at his base during WW II.”

They were segregated from the rest of the army. They served only with fellow Japanese-Americans. It’s a silly, irrelevant comparison. As for Germans, there were many in World War One who carried out massive sabotage in the U.S., including germ warfare. Google the Black Tom incident, for example.

During World War II we took steps to prevent the sort of terrorism that Germans and German-Americans carried out here in World War One. We interned Japanese, Germans, and Italians before any major sabotage or terrorism could be carried out.

But some German-Americans were willing to go against their own country in both world wars. Disloyalty isn’t unique to Muslims. Heck, plenty of good American Christians have betrayed their country. Ever heard of Aldrich Ames or Robert Hanssen? They both did more damage to the U.S. than any Muslim American so far.

The apologies for Islam are truly disgusting and ignorant. The graveyards in the West are full of the graves of innocents killed in the name of Allah. Today even more graves will be filled with more innocents this time America’s best and bravest.

They dribble about “the millions of American Muslims” – the only reason they exist is because of Democratic ethnic engineering via that drunken, man-slaughtering idiot Kennedy’s Immigration Reform act of 1965. A deliberate policy of eschewing small-scale immigration mainly from America’s ancestral heartlands (Europe) for an uncontrolled flood of 3rd world immigrants intended to become willing followers of the Democratic party.

Islam is a system of religion AND a system of government. How many “American Muslims” would answer “America” when asked “To what is your first allegiance, Islam or America ( http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=931696981298d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD )?”

Japanese Americans were placed into camps yes as I believe some German and Italian Americans were as well if they had not been in the US long enough.

Japanese Americans however had barely tried to assimilate into US society by WWII. They had retained their native language, sent most of their children back to Japan for education and had a caste system dependant on when/if they had been born in Japan or the US or if the US what generation they were. They flat out refused to inter-marry or embrace American life.

There was also a Japanese American immigrant caught giving information to Japan from his office overlooking Pearl Harbor on ship movements early on along with the threat of West Coast invasion which is where most Japanese American’s lived.

No I don’t agree with mass racial camps, but a certain degree of “extra” security is only prudent especially in joining the military.

Also all these ethnic groups mentioned served in minority units. The current US policy of open and non-segregated anything means any Muslim serving in the Military serves with everyone else and has access to turn on them.

Had an Asian, Hispanic, German or whatever turned on their fellow soldiers before or during WWII it would have been an equal in all regards including race, national origin and mostly religion (although maybe not political orientation).

    Not so anymore.

We may not discriminate by religion but the attackers certainly do no matter how many of them are peaceful.

Again, we rounded up Japanese, Germans, and Italians at the beginning of World War II. We don’t know what sort of sabotage, terrorism, or murder some of them may have carried out if we hadn’t interned so many.

We aren’t interning Muslim Americans, so those who want to commit terrorist acts are more free to do so than in World War II. So far we haven’t had the sort of sabotage that we had here during World War One. If Muslim Americans are so bent on committing terrorism, how come there haven’t been the sorts of attacks that took place here in World War One? There were entire networks of German-Americans who helped German agents carry out massive attacks.

Why haven’t Muslim Americans helped al Qaeda carry out another 9/11?

Well. Despite my general dislike of the religion of islam, I don’t believe that I’m going to hop on the bandwagon and condemn all muslims for the actions of a few.
I believe that most muslims just want to lead their lives in peace and are not screaming-mad jihadists just waiting to kill us all in our beds.
That said, I do wish that the federal government would shut down the jihadi training camps across America and get rid of the anti-American imams and jihad-screechers in the mosques.

But I refuse to engage in blanket condemnation of all muslims for the actions of a fanatical few. (And, yes, I’ve read the koran.) At least, not until I have evidence that there is, indeed, danger from all muslims in America.

If we’re to condemn all muslims for the actions of a few, then wouldn’t it follow that it would be just as good to condemn all black people because gangbangers kill innocent people? (They kill more innocents in America, in fact, than muslim jihadis do.) Or, we might as well hate all Mexicans because of the drug gangs on the borders (for that matter, all Latin Americans, given the breadth of the drug trade) who kill and torture people all the time. Not to mention the crimes committed by illegals. Are all of Mexico and the entire American population of legal immigrants responsible for those?

And all of that hating just wears you down. A good selective hate is good; but blanket hatred and blind condemnation puts you right into the same camp as the kkk and aryan nations, etc. There just aren’t enough enemies for them to hate, so they create more.
Soon, you’ll have to start hating the Brits because they boil their vegetables too long; and the French because….well, because they’re the French.

So, I’ll just be a bit more selective with my condemnation.

    ############################
As far as arming all soldiers on a military base goes, it’s not a good idea. There are good, valid, time-tested reasons why all soldiers don’t carry sidearms on post. I wouldn’t mind seeing officers and senior NCOs (E7 and above) being armed at all times with sidearms, though.
I believe that you’d find that there would be even more incidents like that of today if all soldiers were armed at all times.

Only one involved in the shooting. When I first heard that this guy was a major, I looked at my husband and said, “He cannot be infantry, my guess is desk job, has not been deployed previously”.

This was an isolated incident by a determined perpetrator on a suicide mission. Thank goodness he is alive to face justice for those that he has murdered and maimed. Enjoy the rest of your life in Leavenworth “major”.

I know a few people who are Muslims. I would trust any one of them with my life. The true followers of Islam are peaceful people. The extremist views of some fanatics should be rightly considered a blasphemy against the one true God. I, as a Christian, worship the God of Abraham and his Son Jesus. Muslims and Jews also worship the same God of Abraham. Comparing an extremist’s views to the main stream (the vast majority of those who follow the faiths of the God of Abraham from which ever branch of the tree they are on) is the same as saying that as a Christian, I espouse the same beliefs as those nut bags from the westboro baptist church (intentionally not capitalized) in Kansas who protest and harass the grieving at military funerals. I consider their views and actions as an abomination to the tenents of my faith.

As far as this man’s views of faith and the military, we will know soon enough, because he was not killed. Speculation will occur, I prefer to wait and hear what the investigators find out.

First off, Islam is not a religion. It is an entire socio-economic belief system. It has its own finance system. Fully proscribed by sharia or translated islamic law.

Does the Vatican enforce banking laws? Does the Anglican Church?

The so called “true followers” of islam are the people to be careful of. They may erupt into sudden jihad syndrome at any time.

The non practicing muslims are the peaceful muslims. But these poor souls would be put to death by the practicing muslims, for blasphemy.

The greater majority of muslims worldwide are illiterate. Even the muslims who are can understand what they read are not allowed to interpret the koran. Imams do that for them. The are not to question the validity of Mohammad. To question the teachings of the koran is blasphemy and punishable by death.

This is a belief system, that to this day stones (to death) women accused of adultery. The key word here is accused. Because a woman is less than a man, her word counts for less than a man. A mere accusation, by any man, usually her husband, is grounds for death by stoning for a woman.

    Honor Killing.

Is this peaceful? Is this loving? But they are following the teachings of Mohammad. It is in the koran. So it must be ok, since it is in the koran. Right?

How many daughters of muslim men, just in the USA, have faced death by their fathers and brothers for becoming too westernized? Far too many already, and is increasing every day.

Ignorant people and the media provide cover for these atrocities, by describing them as isolated cases.

Connect the dots. It’s not so isolated.

Care to guess the worldwide Honor Killing total, from these “peace loving” koran reading animals, that some people seem to be so enamored of?

It is not an isolated event. There have been over 13,000 bombings worldwide, and a huge death count since 9/11, by “peace loving” koran reading muslims.

To provide cover for brutal ideology, is empowering the brutality to continue.

Stop taking the word of the media, and read for yourself, the Koran, and the Reliance of the Traveller.
Two books that form the basis of Islamic Jurisprudence.

The Major in this case planned to die a martyr, to die in combat with the infidels, guarantees a muslim entrance into paradise. And all that has been promised to them in the koran. Virgins, alcohol and everything else considered haram in this world.

Paradise is waiting for every muslim who kills an infidel.

There is active jihad in every corner of the globe. Africa, Russia, China, Europe, America, Thailand, the Philippines.

    READ all about it.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is a U.S. citizen whose parents are Palestinians from the West Bank.

He wrote Allah on his door, according to a neighbor, in Arabic. Allah on the door.
Hasan was put on probation early in his postgraduate work at the Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He was disciplined for proselytizing about his Muslim faith with patients and colleagues, according to the source, who worked with him at the time.
