The communist Chinese banned their ObaMoa gear before the president’s visit.
obamao dc
Fortunately, the ObaMao T-shirts can still be found in Washington DC shops…
…Just blocks from the US Capital.

CNN reporters were even detained by police after showing an Obama-Communist T-shirt on the air.
CNN’s In the Field blog reported:

Our search for the “communist Obama” T-shirt began with a capable intern scouring markets in Beijing. It depicts President Obama wearing a Red Army uniform, the “Chinese communist-style” outfit made famous by Chairman Mao. On the front it says “Serve the People” in Chinese. On the back, “Oba-Mao” in English.

Our first scan of Beijing turned up nothing. But a tip led us to the basement of Shin Kong Place. In an unassuming souvenir shop, we found a T-shirt in extra-large. During our flight from Beijing to Shanghai to cover the President’s arrival, a news blitz indicated the shirts had been “banned” by the Chinese government amid worries that they may offend the American president.

Thank goodness we’d gotten ours in time! But there was no way to confirm the government had indeed taken the shirts off the shelves, so we decided to check for ourselves. We headed to Yatai Xinyang market at a Shanghai metro stop in search of Obama-branded merchandise.

The Chinese also make wallets and trading cards featuring the “Communist Obama” image.

We found nothing, but could not be sure they hadn’t sold them there before. So, I chose that opportune moment to do a piece to camera with the shirt in hand. Bad move? Maybe. But it ended up being great television.

Two security guards happened to pass by at the moment I announced to the camera: “This is the T-shirt everybody is talking about.” And that was it. They scrambled towards us and tried to pry the shirt out of my hands. I didn’t give in.

There was a bit of yelling and quite a scuffle. My producer Jo Kent emphatically stated our case. Photographer Miguel Castro kept his cool. By this point, we had everything on tape.

We ended up being detained for two hours in the cold, maze of a market. A crowd gathered round. More security and then police showed up. They wanted our press cards, our passports, but most of all, they wanted the shirt.

It was worth it. The shirt got attention on the air and sparked buzz online. In fact, some members of the White House pool and a few colleagues in Atlanta actually tried to bribe me for it.

Of course, it surprises no one that the state-run media would be fighting over the commie gear.

Too bad CNN can’t cover other “news” with as much enthusiasm (and truth)!

Anything identifying Obama as a commie is ok with me.

Lolz, I believe Hillary bought two: one for Chelsea and one for Bill for Christmas, I mean or Ramadan — when ever that month comes around!

You seriously think that says “ObaMao”?

It says “Obama” with a peace sign after his name.

    Wow.

This stupid, childish hackery is why we will be stuck with that idiot through 2016.

It can say “ObaMao” and not escape with some technicality of a typographical loophole. Who cares. Some Chinese capitalist came up with a slogan that might stretch ChiCom party muster, and would sell well. So? Do you assert that that t-shirt means something? That if some t-shirt vendors associate Obama with Mao, that means something? This blog is proof of the powerlessness of language, but even in a world where words relate to facts and sway opinions, an occasional ObaMao t-shirt is rather thin proof that the duly elected president of the United States is in the thrall of Deng Xiao Ping or General Tso or Chairman Mao’s ghost.
In fact, I can find nasty weird writing that attempts to associate ideas all over the place, and they prove nothing other than that the fringe of the Republican far right has foamed and shrieked themselves into a fascinating and hilarious irrelevance.
I’m going to get me one of them ObaMao t-shirts today.

White House Praises Mao Tse Tung

    “we control media”

now we know why Anita went under the bus (but not
to worry, dear ACORN hubby is in our Oval Office)..

[An Iowa congressman is questioning the timing of the sudden resignation of a controversial Obama administration official, whose husband has had close ties to ACORN and has recently been named President Obama’s White House counsel.

In serving as White House communications director, Anita Dunn had created a stir when she told school children earlier this year that Chinese Communist leader Mao Tse Tung was one of the people she admired the most. She also launched a public attack against the Fox News Channel for
its reporting on the ACORN prostitution scandal.

    [..]

He says Dunn’s husband, Robert Bauer,
has been a staunch defender of ACORN.

    [..]

King believes that as the newly named White House counsel, Bauer
will be in a position to help President Obama erase his ties to ACORN.]

These are funny, but I’m sure you’ve probably seen the REAL Obama-Mao shirts by now that they’re selling in China, right?

I’ll be surprised if they aren’t selling the actual ObaMao t-shirts [not the picture above with the peace sign] in Union Square by tomorrow next to all the other Obama merch…
