Yesterday, a group of right-of-center students held a protest to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on the lawn outside the Ann W. Olin Women’s Building at Washington University in St. Louis.

Campus officials shut it down.
It was too offensive.
one more gulag shot
They didn’t want anyone to be offended.

But, it’s not over yet.
Yesterday was the first of what will hopefully be many gulags built at several campuses nationwide.
gulag
Campus Gulag website reported:

On the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, the day that gloriously lead to the eventual fall of Communism in Russia, the ideas that led to the slaughter of 100 million souls in the 20th century alone are alive and well. Far from being on the ashheap of history, Communism and socialism in America is growing, and tomorrow’s leaders and thinkers need to see the impact of socialism: the extermination of political dissidents and unwanteds. From national socialism to international socialism, the same bad ideas lead to the same bad results: imprisoning dissidents and their eventual execution.

You and I can stop this, because we can reach students with the message of freedom, the message of hope, and the message that socialism and its ideas leads to mass murder.

You can make a donation to these broke students so they can continue their campaign here.

Don’t you just love the atmosphere of tolerance, mutual understanding of all peoples and freedom of expression on college campuses today? After all, all students are free to express their desire for a world without Jews, the kike bastards. And long live Palestine!!!! “Sarcasm off”…. P.S. if you are offended by the above choice of words in a satirical comment, why are college professors NOT offended by the same language used in SERIOUS comments?

Hard to believe the campus shut em down for this. While it looks ‘lame’, it is clear in message. Obviously this is not a message that the administration wants the students to contemplate.

Too bad the leftists in charge do not understand the folly of trying to ‘quiet’ the students.

I never thought I would welcome civil disobedience!

Reminds me of when we were protesting at McCaskill’s office one day…a 70 year old woman and I were standing together and she said “you know, honey, I NEVER saw myself doing something like this”.

Well, I guess my response to her and anyone else protesting against this administration and other lefty organizations would be…”you know, I NEVER would have thought we would ever see our government and universities terrorizing American individuals while protecting the true terrorists”.

Honest to goodness, when taxpaying and law abiding citizens are ridiculed and their freedom of speech is denied, these organizations cannot expect anything short of a pushback of some sort. They can call us names, run us off property, try to shut us down, but we’ll still be back. I’m delighted to see young people involved now in the pushback movement.

    Welcome. I’ll send money.

A day or so ago, a Wash U alum poster here reminded us that his alma mater erected a large wooden wall on the campus so that students could empathize with the “Paleostinians.”

So much for empathy. Too bad some rockets weren’t launched at the thing, along with some heil Hitler graffiti.

Turnabout is going to become fair play. The backlash of the backlash is coming to a ballot box near you. We must work to make Obama a bad dream that we woke up from…

The truth is sharper than any two edged sword.

Does this gulag include torture? Torture was legalized under Bush so it should be included in any authentic gulag. As well, there should be a container for gangrape. I’m sure that student affairs will approve raping and dumping the female students, now that 30 US Senators legalized gangrape last month.

These kids are protesting liberalism by protesting the heroes of liberals: totalitarian and statist regimes that have caused remarkable misery and suffering. If you don’t understand this, it is possible that you’ve never visited the offices of some of my colleagues, who display their USSR, Cuban, or COMChina flags with great pride.

In a culture that sees enormity in minute CO2 readings; necessity in multi-thousand-page legislation; salvation in multi-trillion-dollar fiat production; a house in every pot… there is simply no other way to penetrate their skull (they [the pop-culture and leadership] have abandoned concepts and reasoning) with what likely lies ahead: mental / physical imprisonment, and ultimately death. I can’t think of a more fitting presentation than what the young’ns have come up with. Way to go!

It would appear that Wash U believes a substantial number of the U community would be offended.
That is, those who have publicly approved of or whitewashed the crimes of communism must be a significant portion of the professoriate.
Otherwise, who’s there to be offended?

    Aitch748No Gravatar
    November 11th, 2009 | 8:48 am | #30

So the troll talking point du jour is that your freedom of speech extends only up to the point where your presentation becomes “lame”?

This from the same bunch who are perfectly willing to justify just about any non-violent outrage on “freedom of speech” grounds. Throw feces at a painting of the Virgin Mary? FREE SPEECH! Burn the flag in the public square? FREE SPEECH! Smear Bristol Palin as a nymphomaniac who likes to be gang-raped by steroid-addicted baseball players? FREE SPEECH! But put up a little display protesting communism and the gulags that might possibly make a comeback within our lifetimes? AAAUGH! *facepalm* LAME! LAAAAME! GO AWAY, YOU’RE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY THAT SUFFERS YOUR PRESENCE!

Frankly I hope this “lame” protest of socialism becomes a trend. (Frankly I hope that almost anything that ticks off the Marxists becomes a trend.) Because I’m sick and tired of people abusing the “moral outrage” card to justify whatever the Left wants to do and then slam whatever the Right wants to do.

The entire point of such a protest is to point out offensive things. How can one protest a philosophy responsible for more deaths than any other in history without offending someone?

The left has become a caricature of itself as we see by the posts of the lefty trolls here today. When confronted with a reminder of the fate that awaits all people who cede too much power to their governments they are offended not at the actions of those governments but at the people who point out those actions and excesses.

They are tools. The Soviets recognized them as such and so does Obama.
