Pure evil. As if the parents of special needs children don’t suffer enough.
Dems will increase taxes on the parents of special needs children in their nationalized health care bill.
LifeSite News reported:

The statistics are scary when it comes to the percentage of unborn children born with special needs who become victims of abortion. One fiscal conservative group says the task for parents raising such children is made more difficult by extra taxes found in Harry Reid’s new Senate health care bill.

The measure has already been condemned by pro-life groups and the Catholic bishops for its abortion funding and this latest analysis won’t make it any more endearing.

Ryan Ellis of Americans for Tax Reform notes that the bill contains 18 separate tax increases — one of them targeting parents of disabled children.

“One of them caps the amount that can be deferred in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) at $2500 per year (a similar provision was included in the Pelosi-Obama health bill),” Ellis notes.

“There is currently no limit to how much can be saved, though all monies must be used by the end of the year. Employers may put a cap in place for their employees, but this would put a cap in federal tax law for the first time. According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI), 30 million American families use an FSA,” he explained.

It is Hitler’s eliminate the undesirables, now only before they are born, and giving penalties to those who choose not to.

I take that personally as having been a special needs child myself with Aspergers (you can look that up if you want to).

Okay, I am declaring war on Harry Reid and his minions. My son is deaf and was featured on this blog. He asked at a Claire McCaskill townhall meeting if cochlear implants would be covered under nationalized health care.

AS OF THIS TIME, HE HAS NEVER RECEIVED A DIRECT RESPONSE FROM CLAIRE MCCASKILL. Based on her non response, I take it this population of Americans are not important enough to the collective good of society to warrant a response.

He is a 2nd year college student, and his father and I are EXTREMELY PROUD of our son. It has been expensive through the years educating him and obtaining medical services. To cap flexible spending plans at $2500.00 for these children is just plain evil. Talk about wanting to further a “perfect race”. Let’s cut to the chase…this is Hilteresque, through and through.

But you know what? I wouldn’t have missed raising our son with all the challenges it presented. We discovered what was the best in us to give to our son. Our adopted son. He was our teacher in learning about perseverance, faith and hope. Do I wish his path was easier? Sure. Do I wish he didn’t suffer discrimination because of his hearing loss? Of course. Does this make his life worth less than a “perfect” child? Of course not. HE IS WHO HE IS. He will find his path in the world and he will be successful.

How dare the GOVERNMENT determine because a child has special needs, that child will only have a certain amount of monies available to his/her parents to help him/her navigate his/her way in life?

I will fight these people with my last breath. My son will be a contributing member of society. He is an example of hard work and determination. He is the antithesis of these Democrats.

This mom is on a warpath. Claire McCaskill will be one term. All you readers on this blog, work as hard as you can to ensure these other incumbent Democrats will not be reelected. I cannot even come up with the words to describe them. Fill in your own blank.

The Kamakazi Dems do it again. Senior Death Panels, Mamograms, Pap Smears and now Special Needs Children. These Dense Dems not only don’t feel our pain they want to be responsible for it. Do they think voters are going to forget this by next year or don’t they care? At a time when people need to be validated with jobs we get a Healthcare Bill that no one wants and they treat us like they are doing us a favor.

Those who are thrilled that the Govt will pay for abortions better beware that people could be forced to abort their children by this same Govt. The reason the Dems want Healthcare so badly is that it allows them to control all facets of our lives.

“I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but maybe now you’re beginning to understand the high-stakes game we’re playing here. This ain’t John McCain’s logrolling senatorial club any more. This is a deadly serious attempt to realize the vision of the 1960s and to fundamentally transform the United States of America. This is the fusion of Communist dogma, high ideals, gangster tactics, and a stunning amount of self-loathing. For the first time in history, the patrician class is deliberately selling its own country down the river just to prove a point: that, yes, we can! This country stinks and we won’t be happy until we’ve forced you to admit it.

In other words, stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.”

I had no idea the Democrats were planning such an underhanded, evil, sadistic, nihilistic, tragic, mean manuver! Isn’t childhood hard enough, especially for those children with special needs making it harder? I remember one of my granddaughters telling about a class project in which the kids were writing to children in hospitals. Her penpal had cancer, and one letter tore our whole family up. The little girl asked, “What is it like to be well?” She died before my granddaughter could reply to her letter. With the shortsightedness prevalent in Congress right now, this child and most of her fellow patients would have been dead long before their time. My eldest daughter was a Special Education teacher. She died in 1990 of cancer, and we had to fight the state–literally–to get aid for her because the state workers were giving nearly all of the hospitalization to illegal immigrants. I have to say, though, that I am rather glad my daughter is dead, because if she knew what Congress is planning for special needs kids, it would kill her.

It’s not just special needs families that will be hit by this cap.

Hearing aids are generally not covered by private insurance and start at ~$1000 ea. Higher performance models go up from there. I’ve been wearing hearing aids in both ears for 35 years (I’m in my 50’s, not all wearers are Medicare age :-). Every 5-6 years I need to buy a new set as they age and become unreliable. That cap would either not cover the cost, or leave nothing left over for other family medical expenses. Even in a regular year, we put $2000 in our FSA for a family of four.

I am opposed to the Health Care bill for many reasons. However, the linked article’s thesis about a tax aimed at parents of children with special needs is a bit misleading. The tax does not target these families. Instead, it impacts them. There’s a significant difference. I’m not addressing the motives of those who would rather see children with special needs aborted, as I know there are such evil-minded people. I do not think this provision in and of itself is evil, though, because as a commenter noted above the cap on FSA spending will impact anyone who currently spends over $2,500 on allowable medical expenses INCLUDING those families with children with special needs who sometimes spend as much as $14,000 a year on the childs’ education and medical needs (which all qualify for tax deductions under the current FSA rules); those expenses will be limited to $2,500 per year under Sen. Reid’s proposed health care “reform” bill.

The solution to affordable health care is to get rid of those pesky people who actually need health care, you know, like the cancer patients, the people in nursing homes, the people with special needs, anyone who needs health care is a burden on the system. How crazy can it get?

at the time someone was talking about medicare – as in ending it. the point made is that you don’t have to stop anything – just
make it less attractive by making it more cumbersome or less financially viable. in the past, i dealt with people on medicaid who had
a difficult time with services – the only doctors
accepting medicaid were closed to new clients as they reached their limit. another reason doctors were discouraged from medicaid was the numbers of clients who didn’t bother showing up for their appointments. they weren’t required to pay for the missed appt.

Don’t forget this evil legislation also includes heavy new taxes on medical devices–wheelchairs, walkers, prosthetics, hearing aids, stents, shunts, pacemakers, colostomy bags, orthotics, leg braces, glass eyes, canes, feeding tubes, etc. This will hit elderly and special-needs people really hard.

    ObamaCare is MEAN.

But then, what did we expect from someone who devoted one of his very few Illinois Senate speeches to defending the killing, AFTER BIRTH, of special-needs infants?

Remember how Obama shot the finger at Hillary, and later, at McCain during speeches in 2008? I feel like he shoots a giant finger at the American people every day, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he chuckles and smirks in private about everything he’s getting away with.

Think back, if you will, to the Republican Convention last year. Did you catch “the look” in Sarah’s speech? She had been talking very warmly about special-needs kids, and then she had just moved on to some other issue and mentioned Obama. She paused, looked straight into the camera, serious as death, her eyes blazing like molten steel–and held that look for several seconds. A warrior look. The look of a mama lion getting ready to pounce and devour whoever’s threatening her cubs. That look gave me goosebumps. In that one wordless look–which almost nobody caught, but I sure as heck did–you could read volumes.

What her eyes were saying went something like this:

I am Sarah Palin, and I know that if you Dems had had the power to, you would have forced me to abort my own child. I know what you think of children with Down syndrome, because 90 percent of the women who discover that their unborn baby has it, abort them. I know you Dems are the party of abortion. I know you hate me because I brought into the world a child whom you consider a burden to society.

I know you, Barack Obama. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE. You are best friends with a frickin’ Commie terrorist who killed his own fellow Americans–TRIED to kill a hundred servicemen, servicemen like my own precious son Track–and that thug feels not one ounce of remorse about it. He got off on a technicality because he’s the spoiled little Ivy League rich kid of a well-connected daddy.

Barack Obama, you gained your Senate seat only by dirty tricks and hardball, bad-ass Chicago gangland politicking. You parked your lazy butt in the Illinois senate only to vote “present” a jillion times, not standing for anything, not taking any positions that might jeopardize your precious ambitions—EXCEPT for on one issue. The one and only thing you really went out on a limb for, the one thing you fought for, the one thing you exerted yourself to give a big fancy speech on the senate floor about was…. to argue that babies who SURVIVE late-term abortions (many of them aborted because they have Down syndrome)–these helpless, squirming, struggling little babies should be LEFT TO DIE by dehydration or suffocation. You are one mean, cruel, cold-hearted sonofabitch, Barack Obama, and, on behalf of my precious baby Trig, if for no other reason, I count you my mortal enemy and I will FIGHT you and those who think like you until my last dying breath.”
