It’s come down to two candidates.

Dede Scazzafava officially endorsed democrat Bill Owens today after she held discussions with democratic New York Senator Charles Schumer.
The Watertown Daily News reported:

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., was among those who urged Dierdre K. Scozzafava to endorse Democratic congressional candidate William L. Owens, the senator’s spokesman said Saturday.

The spokesman, Maxwell Young, said the senator called a number of north country political leaders after Ms. Scozzafava suspended her campaign and had more than one conversation with the Republican candidate ahead of her announcement. He said the senator also called other Democratic leaders about the situation, including White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Mr. Owens said he was “honored” by the endorsement.

“Over the course of her career, Dede has always committed to serving the people of Upstate New York before serving a partisan agenda,” he said in a statement. “Now more than ever we need bipartisan solutions to help bring jobs to Upstate New York to get our economy back on track and move our country forward. Those are the kinds of priorities I will fight for in Congress because that’s the kind of leadership Upstate New York needs right now.”

Those in the camp of the Conservative candidate Douglas L. Hoffman called Ms. Scozzafava a turncoat.

“This afternoon Dede Scozzafava betrayed the GOP,“ Senior Communications Advisor Rob Ryan said in a statement. “She endorsed a Pelosi Democrat who will spend more, tax more, and push the liberal agenda that is dragging down this nation.”

More… Bruce Kessler wonders, “What did Obama and the democrats offer Scozzafava?”
…So does Rep. Issa.

OK, but if she really wanted to help Owens she would have stayed in the race.

She is not a Democrat. She is just a very stupid person.

Good job, Newt and Michael Steele! You sure know how to pick RINOs.

So this goes to show that Sarah Palin and all other conservatives were right in saying that she was a sellout. The first chance she has to stand for the republican party, she back stabs them.
Thank God the base saw further ahead than the GOP elite. Seems like if they had listened to the base in 2008, maybe the USA wouldnt be in the mess they are right now.

I don’t blame Scozzafava for endorsing the Democrat – there aren’t too many people who have a private discussion with Chuck Schumer, and hear first hand, the threats that Schumer lays out that would be able to say no to him. I figure if Schumer can successfully pilfer the credit report on a Republican Senate candidate six states away, he more than likely had one of his “aides” uncover something on Scozzafava that sealed her endorsement.

So glad Dodo Scuzzball was driven from this race. She has shot herself in the foot with this endorsement. She can forget about running as a Republican ever again and what do Democrats need her for when they have their own candidates running in future races? Another useless fool for the Democrats

proved her critics were spot on 100% the entire way. I think this will motivate people that might not have come out, to come out and vote for Hoffman more than before she endorsed Owens.

She not only played Republicans but Democratic voters as well. Yup, she made fools of all you fair minded folks, regardless of your party affiliation

Kiss your fat a$$ future career goodbye Dodo!

Somehow O/T but I personally urge to pop on the webside:

and read an excellent post there: “Blokhin: History’s worst mass murderer.” This is an art about Stalin’s most profolic and efficient killer who by his own account personally murdered more than 50 000 people.

    Very scary!!!

    P.S:Scozzafava is a revolting traitor.

And Newt Gingrich is an IDIOT!!!

P.S.Bis: Mitt Romney has said about Sarah: “She is beautiful but not influential.”

Hey Mitt! Who is influential now?

I finally got to see her actual statement, and was stunned to see this foolish endorsement of the Democratic Party candidate. She really was a ‘con’ and I am pleased many long ago began the effort to empower Hoffman.

I strongly opposed McCain who completely undermined the sound conservatives in the Republican Party. John McCain even voted against the Bush tax cuts.

Hoffman is a huge positive, and I hope we get he and the Governor Candidates from the GOP to win in NJ and Virginia.

We have to get it together, grow a strong Party challenge this 2010 and 2012.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Hypogean. Put country first, or tell yourselves that. But on the way there, it’s probably not a real bright idea to so completely disrespect a loyal Republican woman, and treat her like a piece of garbage.

You people forgot about the human equation here, as zealots so often do. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and I think when push comes to shove the voters in that district are going to extract a penalty from Mr. Hoffman and his pitchfork army for their unseemly behavior.

For “conservatives,” your crowd sure doesn’t seem to understand much about the traditional rules and customs of human interaction in the real world.

Now, once your candidate emerges from the landslide that buries him, the smartest thing the zealots could do is to abjectly apologize for their foolishness. But you won’t. You will redouble it, which as a Democrat will amuse and hearten me to no end.

There’s nothing personal in this. I know liberals love to personalize everything, like children, but we’re not required to sacrifice our nation and our way of life to keep from hurting an inept politician’s feelings.

Now, once your candidate emerges from the landslide that buries him, the smartest thing the zealots could do is to abjectly apologize for their foolishness.

You really don’t understand what’s going on here, do you? The point wasn’t to necessarily win this seat. The point was to make the GOP leadership listen and to stop nominating candidates who are no different from the opposing party.

The point has been made, and the message has been heard. It doesn’t matter that you’re incapable of grasping what happened here, because the message wasn’t being sent to you. The right people have heard the message. That’s what matters.

Go ahead and say “Goldwater in 2012!” again. It was twice as clever the second time you said it, so it’ll be three times as clever the third time.

While the media asks, “Are moderates welcome in the GOP?”, they should be asking “Will Blue Dog democrats survive these voters in 2010?” Blue Dogs are in districts with constituents that are like Hoffman supporters even more so than NY-23. What is going on in NY-23 is a microcosm of a wave of anger at the far left turn in DC. These voters don’t want to send a representative to Washington who will continue to enable this or will be ignored by their own party leadership (e.g. Pelosi and Reid). Seats picked up in conservative leaning districts by the Democrats in 2006 and 2008 will be in jeopardy.

Let’s not be fooled into believing Scozzafava is a “moderate” Republican. That’s been repeated lately by Democrats to mislead and deceive.

Anyone who receives the endorsement of the Daily Kos – over a liberal Dem opponent – is nowhere near the center. A look at her positions on a number of issues confirms it.

This incredible lack of character and integrity comes as no surprise. Americans had better wake up to what is bottom line important. It’s trust.

People signal that level of trust with every word and deed, so look at their history closely. Newt might have a good mind and be a great problem-solver, but is he a man to be trusted? I think his first wife could answer that.

We should be able to count on a man’s word.

because they want the GOP to take power from them of course! That’s why they offer so much “helpful” advice.

Actually even a moron can figure out the liberal and Democrats advice is nonsensical desperation. Trolls aren’t even smart enough to be morons. It’s easy to see it, the louder they yell and go after someone, the more effective that person really is. Like Palin. They are terrified of her like no other.
