Here’s the latest on the socializing of America…
The Obama Administration’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants to purify the federal bureaucracy.
Rush Limbaugh reported this today:
Via the Rush Limbaugh website:
RUSH: Yesterday on this program, in reporting the absolute collapse of the energy sector in energy colossus Venezuela I said to you people that I keep an eye on Venezuela because that’s where we’re headed. Get this. The Obama administration intends to purge Republicans from the civil service retroactive to five years ago starting in the year 2010. I found this at RedState.com: “Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purifying the federal bureaucracy.” I’ve got the copy of the Office of Personnel Management memo right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers. I will explain how this works later on in the program, but I just wanted to get this out there.
Here’s the relevant paragraph from here John Berry, who is the director of the Office of Personnel Management:
“Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decision making authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence.”
“The memorandum goes on to apply this change to civil servants who were political appointees in the last five years, in effect freezing these employees out of other positions, denying them promotions, and forcing them out of their jobs.” This is what Marxists do. This is a purge. This is typical of Marxist regimes, totalitarian regimes. I’ll tell you what. I hope the next Republican administration learns this lesson, because there are going to be thousands of Maoists sleazing their way into the bureaucracy after whatever number of years that Obama is in the White House. The bureaucracy is being polluted with these people. And just as the Democrats and Obama are going to purge all Republicans from the civil service, you know, some people might say, “Well, you have a class-action suit on this.”

Except we don’t have a representative democracy anymore. What we have is a party country with a minority group (progressive liberals) who are inviting everyone they can find in the back door to help add weight to the cause. Their common cause is to take everything away from the mostly white conservatives and then the party crashers can argue over the spoils.
We conservatives are the common target. We have become the Jews of Germany pre WWII.
The question becomes will we get on the trains willingly?

Oh were awake, but the Dems cheat and steal, they remove everybody in their way. The thing that gets me riled the most is that good conservatives get caught up in the garbage. Dems and ELITE donkeys just try to destroy Sarah Palin, and some here on our side go along.
We will never recover until we stop allowing the Dems to pick our candidates. People say she isn’t ready, or she isn’t this or that. Absolute horse manure, but there are some who go along.

Words have meaning. Claiming that conservatives in 2009 America are the same as Jews in 1930s Germany is historically inaccurate and does a disservice both to the victims of the Holocaust and to our country.

Since I didn’t claim conservatives were being herded into concentration camps, yet, I hardly see how I did a dis-service to anyone.
My point, and I still believe it is true, that conservative Americans have become a single target and scape goat that progressives use to rally every ethnic and minority group against us.
The things conservatives are accused of, blamed for, etc are no different than what happened to and how Jews were targeted and used during Hitler’s rise.
From biased legislation to political “bannishment” to wealth re-distrubution the simularities are there.

When the German Jews were put on trains, they ended up in concentration camps or extermination camps. We both know that. I take issue with comparing conservatives in 2009 America to German Jews of the 1930s. It’s a grotesquely overstated comparison.

You’re right. I don’t see the similarities between the way Jews were treated in Germany prior to World War II and the treatment of conservatives in the U.S. today.
When the Democrats pass laws preventing liberals from marrying conservatives, then I’ll say that you have a point.

Replacing the old patronage system with the civil service was a critical blunder. No one foresaw how the civil servants would become an interest group of their own, perpetuating the status quo and extending their influence through regulations.
Sure, patronage was subject to corruption, but the civil service didn’t eliminate corruption – it only franchised it. At least under patronage the corruption could rightly be laid at the feet of the Administration, and that Party could be punished at the polls. Where do we go to vote out the civil service?
Is Obama’s move a “purge?” Pretty much, except those expelled won’t be sent to the gulag. But it will be one of the shorter and simpler purges in history, because the nomenklatura is already overwhelmingly Democratic.

Hypo,
“How do you court martial a veteran? By definition a veteran is no longer in the military.”
My understanding was that a veteran was simply someone who had experienced combat and a veteran could still be in the military. (There are plenty of 20 something year old soldiers who have served in war recently that are still in the military, they are veterans as far as I’m concerned). I decided to look it up to double check:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/veteran
According to this definition it could be someone who was formerly in the military but it’s not exclusively limited to those.
