(09:00 CST) The US House members are voting on the Stupak Amendment that would ban abortion funding from the democrat’s nationalized health care bill.

It’s a 15 minute vote.

Democrats will likely stuff abortion funding back into the bill after the nationalized health care legislation is passed. This vote was just a way for blue dogs to save face.
60+ dems vote for stripping abortion funding THAT WAS NEVER THERE, we were repeatedly told by Barack Obama.
He lied.

UPDATE: The Stupak Amendment passes 240-194-1 with 174 Republicans and 64 democrats voting yes.

Previously: House dems are outraged that the Stupak Amendment would ban abortion that Obama said would not be covered in the the health care bill… But it is.

“He lied.” (Actually should be “HE lied”.)

    So, what else is new?

The GOP are amzingly stupid on this one. They should have ALL voted ‘present’ and the Dems wouldn’t be able to pass it. Then the Blue Dogs would be stuck; the GOP gave them the out.

The GOP continues to excel at tactical stupidity; until that and their RINOism changes, they’ll get nothing from me!

    RINOFREUDE:
There it is, I’ve put it in text. Rush tried to when he spoke of hoping Obama fails. He was not using his audience to plant roots for creating a movement to take America back from the Fascists. I don’t have that fear.

I hope the RINO’s fail in being elected, or re-elected over truly conservative people who need no help from the RNC (Republican Neutral Commitment) to advance the values and faiths of true American Patriot Citizens, harking back to the actions and the foresight of the formers of the Constitution of the United States of America.
In no particular order: (and not listing every worthless crap-eater-go-along who gets RNC funds)

Colin Powell = RINOFREUDE! for supporting Obama pre-election.

Arnold Schwarzenegger = RINOFREUDE! for not being that guy he played in Commando.

Olympia Snowe = RINOFREUDE! For selling out for no reason. (this reason is rampant among RINO’s)

Newt = RINOFREUDE! For following the RNC creed no matter the cost.

Lindsey, McLame and daughter, Charlie Crist (FL), Collins (ME), Shays (CN), Pataki (NY, credit for supporting Hoffman), Boehlert (NY), Romney (MA), Castle (DE), Leach(IA) = RINOFREUDE! All need tossed out, the list is nearly endless. RINOFREUDE!

RINOFREUDE, like schadenfreude is the malicious or smug pleasure of the misfortune of another, in this case eliminate all RINO’s, and have no mercy, THEY DO NOT SPEAK FOR US!

Mike O at #3 is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Except that all politicians are addicted to power and MUST BE SEEN TO DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING, or else why are they there?

Just because the Stupak amendment passed DOES NOT mean it will be in the Final (house/Senate) Healthcare bill.

Dems will remove it when both bills are combined…I agree with Mike O#3… pressure was off the Blue Dogs because of this amendment.

Boehmer asked Rangle if he would GUARENTEE that the Stupak amendment would be inthe final bill and Rangel said no…

So by letting Blue Dogs vote yes with Stupak amendment gave those Dems and out to final passage…pray for our country and prepare for a heavy siege on election day 2010!

As at has been stated in a previous posting, the Republicans (if they were smart enough) could have voted “present” on the Stupak Amendment and that would have left the so called “Blue Dogs” having to show their real colors.

In addition, the Michael Steele experiment hasn’t worked out. Time to bring in George Allen and start cleaning house.

Here we go again with another idiotic strategy! This amendment directly lead to the ONLY Republican vote for Nationalized Health Care.

    http://josephcao.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=154007

“Of his vote, Cao said: “Tonight, I voted to keep taxpayer dollars from funding abortion and to deliver access to affordable health care to the people of Louisiana.”

    He also states
“Cao said: “Today, I obtained a commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. And, I call on my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues.”

I am sure President Obama will keep that commitment!

If abortion coverage would have stayed in the bill then perhaps additional Democrats would have voted against the bill.

I am absolutely pro-life but I also know the loony left will put it right back in there!

This is another case of win the battle lose the war!

I wish you would have pointed out that the sponsor of the amendment was a Democrat!

This is even more laughable, no wait I’m not laughing, all the Republicans had to do was vote down this amendment and the single Republican vote and probably a FEW democrats would have voted against the bill and the thing would have been defeated!

This is a Sad Sack Bunch of Republicans I have ever seen!!

Where in he world is the Republican leadership?

    Where is the strategist?
