She’s Ba-ack…
People wait in line at Woodland Mall in Kentwood, Mich. Wednesday just after sunrise, to get a bracelet at Barnes&Noble that will allow them to meet Sarah Palin and get a signed copy of her new book “Going Rogue. (Detroit News)
The state run media thought they had destroyed Sarah Palin…
But, here she is months later– standing tall, bashing the socialists & Mao supporters in the White House, and going rogue.
Over 1,500 waited in line at 4 AM this morning in the freezing cold to get a chance to see Sarah Palin at her book signing later today.
WZZM reported:
It was 4:55 when the first cheer went up.
“Sarah! Sarah! Sarah”
And that’s 4:55 this morning when the thermometer had dipped into the 30s. But the 500 or so people in line didn’t mind the sleepless night or the onset of winter.
“What she represents is what we’re standing in line for,” said Robin Case, 44, of Traverse City, who set up a chair and sleeping bag at 9 p.m. Tuesday to make sure she got the chance to meet Sarah Palin, former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate. “She’s real and she’s standing up for what we believe in.”
Palin was scheduled to begin her “Going Rogue” book tour at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers at the Woodland Mall in Kentwood.
By 7 a.m., the line had swelled to more than 1,500 people as Barnes & Noble wrapped orange wristbands around Palin fans’ wrists.

Remember how proud the left was when Sarah resigned? They came here and gloated, hinting at all sorts of dirt to come. Some did more than hint.

Your headline has an error-in-fact, Jim. That signing took place in Grand Rapids, Michigan which is approximately 140 miles northwest of Detroit … and is more than happy to be so.

It says Traverse City which is Michael Moore land. Not that the people support Moore but he has a home somewhere up there (even though he’s not rich…… eye roll) and has something to do with a film festival in TC.
There are not alot of people up there. 1500 is really quite a number.

Meanwhile in DC doctors were rushed in to Nancy Pelosi office for emergency botox replacement. Pelosi was so angry that so many people showed up for Palins book signing that the botox in her face boiled out. The Pelosi book signing tour which drew less people in the months that she was out promoting it then Palins did in her first 5 minutes.Pelosi has now donated the millions of unsold books to a paper weight company.

I doubt you’d feel the winds off Lake Michigan in Detroit. Lake Michigan is on the other side of the state. Grand Rapids is much more conservative than Detroit, that’s for sure. Glad to hear the people of my home state are supporting Sarah!

Jim, Kentwood is actually a suburb of Grand Rapids. If Palin had been in Detroit I would have been in line at same time as I live in Ann Arbor. I’m one of those SE Michigan conservatives hiding in plain site.

Grand Rapids is Michigan’s 2nd biggest city, at just under 200,000, and it is very Republican, so a showing of just 1500 folks isn’t very impressive, but …….. why 7:00 am? Most folks who are fans of Sarah’s actually WORK for a living, and would have been on their way to work at that time. If the book signing had been at 7:00 pm, there would have been a gigantic turnout!

You are not alone! I, too, am a Michigan conservative. I live in the north, but in the only democratic county in the nw quadrant of the state, so I feel isolated, too. I’ve found the Ludington Area Tea Party, though, and that helps. Maybe there’s a Tea Party group in your area of Michigan?

Aah Detroit, a once beautiful city, the city of my birth, now a shambles. Michigan would be a red state if you took away Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, and the rest of the acorn infested cities.
There are many many good people in Michigan, unfortunately so many have left the state for greener pastures. Sarah had 1500 in line, some since last night, to get arm bands that are tickets to the actual book signing. thats VERY impressive to say the least!

Time to update the list of misery in Detroit that I’ve been compiling on this blog. The short list of news from Detroit (all bad): Detroit is ranked the #2 emptiest city in the nation, and has resorted to gaming census data to boost funding opportunities (My added comment on this one-Now you know why Obamao took personal control of the 2010 census). In addition, Detroit is also ranked the most dangerous city in the country, the number 1 city in both lack of jobs, homicide rate, and in job sprawl, the most miserable city in the nation (#6 if sports teams are taken into account), with the worst jobless rate in the state (28.9%) and likely the nation, run with much ineptitude and incompetence, home of the worst football team in NFL history, with a recent felon ex-mayor and a City Council that until recently was run by a moonbat, and still full of tax cheats, home of the very worst public school district in the nation (with an obscene 1 in 4 graduation rate) and maybe in history, with residents turning to rodents for food, printing their own money, with an average home price of a mere $5,800, and with some of the worst air in the nation. After 6 years and $10 million spent, the police department is only 40% done with its required reforms, in part because the federal monitor supposedly watching the process was allegedly getting stuffed like a Thanksgiving Day turkey by Kwame Kilpatrick. While the city burns, 4 squad cars gave an escort to a bunch of stuffed toys for Michael Jackson, while the DPD cooked the books to keep the homicide rate artificially low. Most recently, dead people have been receiving health benefits in the Detroit Public School security system, and weapons and motorcycles have been missing. In addition, the union workers in Detroit work only 35 hours per week but get paid for 40, and have 42 days off each year, are covered for Viagra, in addition to receiving Christmas bonuses. Now, Detroit ranks only behind Atlanta in being toxic by Forbes. And remember – that’s the short list.
And that’s just the city. Detroit Public Schools is another sad story. When Bob^2 (Robert Bobb) was appointed to fix DPS, he had a few problems to contend with, to put it mildly. All of the corruption had to be tackled. Ghosts were collecting paychecks. Dead people collecting health benefits. An audit showed that 97.4% of the schools within DPS cannot keep track of its own funds. It was thought that the DPS deficit was all of $140 million. Bob^2 said that it will be more than $150 million on March 3. The tallies of the problems started increasing that number. Unpaid vendors popped up with a price tag in the tens of millions. On March 12, there was more bad news: the deficit ballooned to $200 million. Not soon after that post, there came news that DPS owed $36 million more. Not to be outdone, this followed from the DetNews: DPS deficit climbs to $306M; thousands of layoffs expected. Then, just the other month, it was revealed that the deficit now stands at $430 million. Now pared down to about $250 million, more corruption is being uncovered. (Culture of corruption: more embezzlement charges against Detroit Public Schools workers)
Not mentioned who runs Detroit. The situation that Detroit is in can’t be pinned entirely on the politicians though. I pin much of the blame on the willfully ignorant electorate. With all the failed policies of the Democrat party, who do Detroit residents vote for? Democrats that have killed the hope in their hearts, that’s who. By wide margins. In fact, Detroit is the most liberal city in the U.S. if one goes by voting record.

2004 General Election results-DEM: 93.61% GOP: 5.93%
The Stockholm Syndrome on a massive societal scale. I have pointed this out several times before, but it’s worth repeating yet again. One of my all-time favorite movies of all time is The Shawshank Redemption. In it, Morgan Freeman, aka “Red”, coined the term when prisoners become dependent on the prison system and can no longer survive without it – institutionalized. One of the older prisoners, Brooks, was willing to kill to stay in the system as he knew nothing else after so many years. Yet they let him out and he promptly hung himself. He was institutionalized. The Democrats have institutionalizing the black population in this country, no different than slave masters did many decades ago. The same party that fought for slavery, not against it, segregated schools and filibustered the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 now has shackled the black population to another form of slavery – slavery to the state. Stripped naked of their dignity, their hope and their self-reliance.

I went to Sarah’s book signing in Grand Rapids. About 50 people got in line at 9pm the night before. They waited outside in the freezing cold all night. I stood in line from 6:15 am-845 a.m But after that I had to go right inside and get in line for her actual book signing at 6pm. I waited in line for a total of 12 and a half hours. I made a lot of new friends and talked politics all day. My husband and I had a blast. They only gave out a certain amount of bracelets to see Sarah so everyone else was either turned away. What is strange is that every single news outlet that hates Palin was there. Andrea Mitchell from MSNBC, CNN, NY Times, BBC, NBC, and so many more. The media circus annoyed the heck out of me because they kept taking pictures all day. It’s like noone could get their book signed with a camera in their face constantly.

Jim, dear….. raise your right hand….. palm towards you. Detroit is at the base of your thumb. Grand Rapids, where Mrs. Palin appeard, is approximately where the top crease of your hand joins the opposite side from your thumb, or little below that. About 140 MILES from Michigan’s bane, I mean Detroit. There’s so much more to our once and former Great State than Detroit. It’s like a whole ‘nother world. Detroit is just where the rest of us send our money to die……
