North and South Korea exchanged fire today at sea before the damaged North Korean ship retreated.
Initial reports said there were no casualties.

FOX News reported:

The two Koreas briefly exchanged naval fire Tuesday along their disputed western sea border, with a North Korean ship suffering heavy damage before retreating, South Korean military officials said.

There were no South Korean casualties, the country’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, and it was not immediately clear if there were any casualties on the North Korean side. Each side blamed the other for violating the sea border.

The clash — the first of its in kind in seven years — occurred as U.S. officials said President Barack Obama has decided to send a special envoy to Pyongyang for rare direct talks on the communist country’s nuclear weapons program. No date has been set but it would be the first one-on-one talks since Obama took office in January. Obama is due in Seoul next week.

“It’s a regrettable incident,” South Korean Commodore Lee Ki-sik told reporters in Seoul. “We are sternly protesting to North Korea and urging it to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.”

They must have forgotten that Obama was president.

It seems to me that the world’s dictators are getting just a little more provacative since the communist in chief assumed power.

Dictators need food for their starving masses, that’s why they begin to make war. The Norks are at a point of desperation. War is the only honorable point of exit from their misery.

When the President of the USA is a VERY weak man the sharks smell the blood and the rest of the world cowers in fear…..there will be no rescue this time…..obama is eager and willing to see the USA destroyed along with rest of the free world.

Nope. The answer is right here:

Come on, folks. Let’s not rush to judgement until we know all the facts.

It could very well be that the South Koreans have acted stupidly.

I think we need a round of brewskies as we suffer through the consequences of this disastrous presidency of weakness.

I am SO glad he has been able to wave his magic wand and world harmony has been instituted.

Am I wrong, or are there more acts of aggression throughout the world since he has assumed office?

Unicorns for all! The Great Speaker of wisdom and peace will settle the dust between these two countries once and for all.

Truth and the parallel universe converge. Expect a bang.

Slightly OT, what ever happened to those two lib babes released from the NK paradise?
I find it funny that the media has been silent about them and that they have not written on it, been on Oprah, etc

TOTUS need only give a nice speech and Rodney King’s dream will come true. That’s why we wanted him to be Oprah of the United States, complete with free presents for everyone in his audience! Hallelujah! Evil and hatred flee at the sound of his ducet tones!

Give me a shout out, President Hussein!

I like the comment of no known casualties, the nork ship got the daylights kicked out of it and had to retire. If a ship with enough damage to force it to retire and lick it wounds had no casualties it would be a miracle or some new wonder ship. So the press was already spinning it to make the norks appear stronger than they really are, because it sure looks like the sorks and norks decided to play ball and the norks had to take their ball and go home or go swimming yet the press wants to make it look like it was an even match. That I just don’t get.

    Greetings:

Since the recent government directed analog to digital TV conversion, I have been getting a South Korean station, KBS. One of the things that has struck me in viewing their (subtitled) programs is how the South Koreans accept their military draft, not just their college students, but also their entertainers and celebrities. While there is strong current of Korea as a whole, both North and South, I think that those is the South very much realize that the regime in the North is a significant danger that must be addressed and controlled.

To post #3 and post #11…I agree with both of you 100%. B. Hu$$ein Obama is in way over his head. He has no clue of what budgets or a military are really for. You think he knows how to handle this situation, or does he just call him buddy Bill Ayers back in Chicago and do exactly what he tells him to do? Just curious.

Strange how this never happened on Bush’s watch, but Obama’s in not even a year and they’re already shooting. Hmmm…
