Barack Obama has now played more golf than George W. Bush did in two terms as president.
But he’s still dithering on whether or not to support the US troops in Afghanistan.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
Barack Obama has now played 25 rounds of golf, a sport he picked up about a decade ago when he was an Illinois state senator. That’s more golf than former President George W. Bush played in two terms, according to CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller, who tracks presidential trivia.
It’s been over 3 months since the top general in Afghanistan requested more troops.
Obama has still not made his decision on whether to support the US soldiers and marines in Afghanistan.
Late last night Obama and the White House Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag (?) sat down with other officials to debate the Afghanistan/Pakistan policiy going forward. The administration is suddenly concerned about the cost of the war. This is something new for a White House that just tripled the US national deficit last year and is planning on adding to that with a nationalized health care plan.

I don’t get this thread. I would like to hear that he has read 25 more books than Bush did about leaders in history faced with similar decisions (probably not going to happen) – this is the best you can do? Golf? How many more times did Bush go mountain biking? Can’t you find something relevant? You seem to think it makes the delay argument stronger if it is linked to his other activities? The dithering should stand on its own. It sounds like the liberals making fun of Bush 41 for speed boating at Kennebunkport. Ridiculous.

Gateway Pundit has written numerous posts about the dithering of our Commander in Chief. This is yet one more, and yes, I do think Obama GOLFING more than Bush did during his two terms has relevance.
If Obama has actually read more books than Bush did, I’m sure that the left-wing media would be announcing that from the heavens. And if Bush was delaying important decisions for three months in order to read or golf, then that should also be made known to the public.
The golfing vs. acting on necessary troop deployment… it speaks volumes about our POTUS’s lack of leadership in Afghanistan and his lack of priorities on improving his golf swing.

You don’t have that on Bush either. I read not too long ago that Bush read books (I’m not talking Curious George or anything) on history and biographies of the founding fathers voraciously. Apparently Obama has read one since he’s been in office according to a response he gave in June about a book he had been reading.

A full round of golf is, essentially, a full day’s worth of activity. Thus, that’s 25 days Obama has spent playing golf, out of about 300 in office.
Let’s see: Obama has also been galavanting around the world. In his first six months, he spent 25 days out of the country, over five trips. He has easily doubled that total since the July report.
Thus, Obama has spent about 50 days out of country, doing nothing about fulfilling his duties as CIC (a half-hour “meeting” with McChrystal on AF1 before pitching the Olympics notwithstanding).
So, now we’re up to at least 75 days wasted, out of about 300 in office.
Need more? How about his 30 or so days spent traveling around the country for Democratic fundraisers?
So, now we’re up to at least 105 days wasted, out of about 300 in office.
Need more? How about his many weekend trips to Camp David, his family vacations to Martha’s Vineyard and the Grand Canyon, etc.? I don’t have an exact number, and some of those days will overlap with his golfing, but it would probably be safe to say that such excursions count for at least another 25 days.
So now, we’re up to at least 130 days wasted, out of 300 days in office.
In other words, Obama has wasted 43% of his time in office on golf, vacations, fundraisers, and jet-setting around the world.
In that time, almost 300 (297) US soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan – a number that represents almost 1/3 of all US soldier fatalities (927) in Afghanistan in eight years.
But, you go ahead and research how many books Obama has read, if it will help you sleep better at night.

This article and the people commenting…are absolutely ridiculous. There is no lower blow than to compare Obama’s tough tactical, moral, and financial decision to elevate troop levels in Afghanistan to his passtime activities. It might even help his decision Eureka style.
Obama has an entire cabinet working under him. I think that it is their duties to formulate the plans seeing as there is no way in the world he can have a solution for everything especially the problems, saving health care reform and the TARP, that he didn’t create.
IMO, I realize that a bunch of whiny liberals would have said the same thing about Bush vacationing too much over this so I really can’t feign any outrage.

When the majority of Americans turned against the Vietnam War, the death toll was about 26,000. By the time we left Vietnam the death toll exceeded 58,000. I’d like someone to explain what our exit plan is for Afghanistan. I’m sure the politburo listened to their generals. Where did it get them?
BTW, I believe Bush II holds the record for the most vacation days taken during a single term. Any business professional knows how successful a round of golf can be in building customer realationships.
