It’s another distraction.

Barack Obama told Major Garrett on FOX News that the phantom job creation data reported at his recovery.com website is a “side issue.”
** FOX Nation has video.
FOX News reported:
President Obama brushed off criticism over his administration’s inaccurate reporting on job creation Wednesday, telling Fox News the accounting is an “inexact science” and that any errors are a “side issue” when compared with the goal of turning the economy around. He said job growth is his No.1 responsibility.
The president was responding to criticism from Republicans, as well as Democratic Rep. David Obey, who drew attention to embarrassing errors on the Recovery.gov Web site that tracks stimulus funding. The site is under fire for claiming a number of jobs were created from the stimulus in congressional districts that don’t exist and accepting unrealistic and inflated jobs data from various sources.
Is counting jobs really an “inexact science?”
It never was before.
Or, is that just part of the hope and change we were promised?
Related… 62% of Americans (not the White House or Democrats in Congress) believe that to create jobs you must cut taxes and stop spending.

Regarding the so-called stimulus, three questions I would love to hear answers for:
1. Has anyone credible ever defined what constitutes a “saved” job?
2. What percentage of the “created” jobs are in the public sector vs. the private sector?
3. Among all of the “honest mistakes” being made in the counting of these jobs, has anyone seen an honest mistake of “under” reporting the number of jobs created or saved?

It is a side issue? Well I remember democrats yapping about Bush being incompatent. But the incompatence of the Obama administration is demonstrated almost daily. Wether it is fudging numbers, or blowing diplomatic protical, it is not a side issue.
November 19th, 2009 | 4:21 pm | #4
My congressman, Jim Jordan, asked at the hearing if the terms ‘jobs saved or created’ was ever used in the past.
He considered their silence as a ‘no’ answer.

Side issue with other people’s money.
If it’s such a side issue, give it the hell BACK! Oh wait, it’s already been siphoned into other people’s pockets. Right.
November 19th, 2009 | 4:36 pm | #6
He doesn’t have time to really track this money. He cant even track Michelles spending all of his earned money/our money on a 22 person entourage.

Speaking as a CPA and a former partner in a national public accounting firm, when accounting becomes an “inexact science” it’s called FRAUD.
Contrary to Obama’s apparent indifference, we always thought that was a BAD thing…

Accounting in an “inexact science”???
What the HELL kind of math are they doing up there in DC?
November 19th, 2009 | 4:42 pm | #9
What is he talking about? Accounting is an exact science. Like math is an exact science. One plus one equals two, exactly. There’s no mystery to it. The guy is dumber than Bush.

Of course lying to tax payers is a side issue. They have been doing that for generations.
What is really, really, really important is how many times the obamao appears on TV everyday and that he looks good while articulating his lies.

November 19th, 2009 | 4:49 pm | #14
He’s right. Accounting is clearly an inexact science.
Climate change, however, is an EXACT science.
The debate is over.

And major garrett pleasantly nodded along because, after all, if he wants access to obama, he must be pleasant.

Bush lied, people died. Bush lied, people died.
Oh, is it too late for that?
November 19th, 2009 | 4:58 pm | #17
I’ll buy that his bogus claims are a side issue. I’ll buy that his failed presidency is immaterial.
The issue is he is the Union and her people’s enemy–the litmus test for 2010 is ‘Impeach’.
November 19th, 2009 | 5:07 pm | #18
Jay, the new mantra is: Obama lied. Jobs died. Obama lied. Jobs died.

I watched the full interview yesterday on Fox and it was my impression that Obama either didn’t understand Major’s question, or was intentionally ducking it, and that his “inexact” answer was regarding the impact of the Stimulus program, and not the “job” count errors and fraud.
November 19th, 2009 | 6:35 pm | #24
Obama sure didn’t waste any time destroying the healthy economy, air-tight banking industry, record budget surplus etc etc that he inherited from The Greatest President of All Time (George W Bush, as if it even has to be said)!
November 19th, 2009 | 6:40 pm | #25
There’s nothing “inexact” about his science. It’s just that he usually likes to keep that part secret.

Chris:
Obama voted for TARP, and then quadrupled the deficit within 4 months with the fraudulent stimulus bill.

“Obama voted for TARP” you’d think he could have voted “no”. that’s usually what you do if you don’t agree. unless of course…..
and then [from fox] we have the feds funding environmental groups who turn around and sue
the feds with the help of lawyers – some whom charge $650 per hour.

CPA’s are expected to give exact numbers. When company reports are prepared, they know what you made and if you are fired or not. Obama is making a joke of truth and accuracy.

“the accounting is an “inexact science” and that any errors are a “side issue” when compared with the goal of turning the economy around. He said job growth is his No.1 responsibility.”
Of course. Any counting of a “saved” job or a non-existent job HAS to be inexact.
He’s telling the truth. But how does one know if there is ANY job growth if one cannot COUNT the jobs.
November 19th, 2009 | 8:42 pm | #33
“He said job growth is his No.1 responsibility. “but this prioirty comes after his other No.1 responsibility — and that is destroying the U.S. Economy.

Why does EVERYTHING this lying scumbag say remind me of Josef Stalin’s infamous quote from the 1930’s? When Stalin’s forced collectivization of agriculture in the 1930’s resulted in catastrophic drops in food production in the U.S.S.R., and the murder and starvation of millions, Stalin infamously announced he was pulling back on collectivization because, get this, “We are giddy with success.”
EVERYTHING this lying scumbag president of ours says sounds like that. “Actual numbers? We don’t need no stinking actual numbers. We are giddy with success!!!”
I pray for this country and our republic.

Everything is inexact with this doofus. His transcripts from college and law school probably say he got somewhere between an A and a F. His passport says he is from somewhere in this world. He was in Jeremiah Wright’s church and maybe he heard what Wright was preaching but then again maybe not. Obamacare does not include abortion funding but maybe it does. He only needs 2 to 20 more weeks to decide whether to send more troops to Afganistan or not. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; stop punishing business – where jobs are created – with more/higher taxes or the threat of.
November 19th, 2009 | 11:39 pm | #39
Accounting is not an exact science? Fiddlesticks. It is very precise… and like someone else said… if it is inexact, then that is cooking the books and is considered fraud…..
hmmmm…. is that an impeachable offense?

Imaginary districts, fudging numbers-for anyone other than the hypocritical lefties, this would be seen as monumentally embarrassing, and flat out dishonest. Not to mention fairly terrifying for the jobless.
It failed to produce results, and they tried to hide the fact, but that is a “side issue”? How can anyone expect to get away with such a nonchalant dismissal ?
