A Good Photo Op–
obama korea
U.S. President Barack Obama delivers a speech during a rally with troops at Osan Air Base in South Korea November 19, 2009. Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak called on North Korea on Thursday to return to stalled nuclear talks and end its atomic ambitions in return for massive economic aid. (REUTERS/Jo Yong-Hak)

The president greeted 1,500 troops at Osan Air Base in South Korea today telling them:

“You guys make a pretty good photo op.”

The Washington Post buried the line, via Free Republic:

Obama arrived on the base 3:19 p.m. local time (1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time), and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cell phones to snap pictures.

“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” the president said.

Standing on a riser wearing a blue suit and red tie, with a cluster of troops and a large American flag behind him, Obama expressed “the gratitude of the American public” and said his meetings in four countries over eight days in Asia will help deliver a “safer more prosperous world for all of us.”

Of course, this surprises no one.

Here’s another one:

I bet he thought no one in the liberal media would report such a brazen political remark. It leaves me speechless.
As for the trip leaving us in a much safer world, that world must be the world of pixie dust and unicorns because not a single accord of any significance to lessen dangers in the world was signed by the parties on this trip. But Obama has always been about words and not deeds, we just see more of the same, creating an Obama travelogue as the world goes down the toilet.

Does this surprise anyone? Our “dear leader” thinks that the military is good for nothing. He would get rid of it if he could, we all know that. Just have it as his own private militia to keep us under control. This shouldn’t surprise any of us unfortunately.

One morning soon, we’ll all wake up, turn on Fox News and realise we all shot JR and this was just a bad dream.

But if that day isn’t within the next few months, I have a dire gut instinct that the first two Amendments to The Constitution of The United States will come into absolute focus and application – out of the necessity to preserve The Republoc and freedom.

Good grief, you people need help. This is the first day I have ever come here, I’m a St. Louisian and I was curious. This is two thoroughly manufactured whine-fests from thin blue sky air in one day and the regulars just lap it up. This is also my second attempt to talk down utter nonsense. “You volunteered in a time of war, knowing that you could be sent into harm’s way,” the president said. “Many of you served in Iraq.”

The comment brought applause and affirmative shouts of “Hoo-ah!”

“Others among you served in Afghanistan.”

    More applause and hoo-ahs.

“… Others among you will deploy yet again,” he said.

This time, barely three or four people in the crowd made sounds of approval, then quickly fell silent.

Greg, I watched the video of that event. Most of the soldiers were giving courtesy claps with no expression on their faces.

BTW, most comments here are not directly related to the “photo op” comment by Obama. I’m reading people disgusted with his performance as Commander in Chief, which by anyone’s standards (other than a far left loon) have been dismal. He won’t reinforce the troops and he won’t pull them out either. Translation…he doesn’t want to be responsible for losing the war and he doesn’t want to offend the left wing loons who finance the Democrats. The man is playing politics with the lives of our soldiers. You may not get it, but everyone else here does.

After reading Greg’s poorly written comment I was compelled to post…(a little proof reading goes a long way – even when the content is garbage).

Anyhow, the reason this ‘photo-op’ caused such overwhelming disgust is because the President remains completely void of any genuine reaction. Every word, every gesture…contrived. It only takes a glimpse into his vacuous eyes to see how little he cares for each individual soldiers.

While I am not referencing Obama’s lack of military experience, his failure to meet with his Generals until forced, or his almost sociopath-like response to tragedy (e.g. Ft. Hood)…I will ask you to use your ‘gut’ (which still seems quite full with cool-aid) when discerning the President’s true objective–looking good.

And Greg, please don’t join my blog (http://the-raw-deal.com/) until you piss out that cool-aid…

And I will say it. Every military photo Obama has taken is with a wildly out of ratio group of women and blacks.

Half of the women in the military see it as the ultimate welfare program to take care of them and their daddy’s babies. Of course that’s a group that’s going to love Obama. He is the ultimate surrogate daddy to unwed moms all over the country.

And the black service members? Except for the brave, independent group of black soldiers that will think for themselves, they will automatically be for Obama.

The others types that show up for the photo ops will be those who are apolitical, they are just there to have a photo taken with the president and don’t even know his name.

There are many wonderful and dedicated soldiers of color and women in the Armed Forces, but you can’t deny who will stand behind this terrible man.

How can all you folks on this blog get so worked up over Obama’s tongue-in-cheek comment? It reminds me of the time Reagan was testing the audio before his weekly radio address and did a voice check and said that we would commence bombing the Soviet Union in five minutes. The left went crazy. You all are pretty close to that mentality. Get a grip.

Of course, most of you salad tossers are beyond help.

Trying to teach a salad tosser is harder then directing a deaf and blind person through a mine field using hand and voice signals. The deaf and blind person has other senses he relies on. The salad tosser has no sense at all.
