So where does a far left political operative land after his organization is fined $775,000 for election violations that included hiring rapists and burglars to register voters?
Inside the Obama White House, of course.

Obama’s ACORN operative in the White House Patrick Gaspard is helping shape domestic policy… and the NY-23 race.

From left: CECILIA MUÑOZ, director, intergovernmental affairs; MICHAEL STRAUTMANIS, public liaison; CHRISTOPHER LU, Cabinet secretary; HEATHER HIGGINBOTTOM, deputy director, Domestic Policy Council; PATRICK GASPARD, political director; PHIL SCHILIRO, director of legislative affairs; MELODY BARNES, director, Domestic Policy Council. (New America Today Mag)

Patrick Gaspard, who has a long history of working with ACORN-affiliated organizations, was behind the scenes this weekend persuading former GOP candidate Scozzafava to endorse democrat Bill Owens in the NY-23 race.
The Washington Post reported:

Steeped in New York politics, he played a pivotal role in the effort over the weekend to persuade Republican State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava to endorse the Democratic candidate in the special election in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, two senior White House officials said Sunday. One senior official added that Gaspard was the “air traffic controller” of multiple parties as events in the district unfolded. Scozzafava, a rare Republican who who supports same-sex marriage and abortion rights, endorsed Bill Owens rather than the Conservative Party candidate two days ahead of Election Day, a major victory for Democrats in arguably the most closely watched contest in the country.

But Gaspard is the last person to boast about his efforts and the first to bestow credit to larger personalities. He tends to talk through larger-than-life figures — he’s an avid comic-book collector. He declined interview requests for this article — and would not address questions put to him by e-mail on Sunday asking about his role in the NY-23 race — in what his allies said was a trademark style that stands in contrast to the frequent aggressiveness of his West Wing peers.

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa suggested yesterday that the Obama White House offered Scozzafava favors for endorsing Bill Owens.

Scozzafava had already taped robocalls in support of Bill Owens by Sunday night. Her husband, a top union official, was in talks months ago with Democratic operatives about her switching parties.

Scozzafava took $1 million from the GOP for her campaign this year.

This is perfect! Imagine getting a robo-call from a candidate who, a mere week ago, was running adds attacking her opponent, and now telling you “never mind – I want to you vote for my opponent after all.” Hilarious!

This screams of foul play. Acorn is the henchmen of Rom Emanuel. He is the one behind the screen pulling Baracks strings.

They know we are aware of this but pompously don’t care as was shown with Palosie push through of the Medical Bill, and Cap and Trade. Support and act independently. It is at least an honest plea from the Electorate. It is not just NY 23 that will benefit; it is a spear to be chucked back at Washington and the Democratic Party that they work for us, not us for them.

This is indicative of what a problem the GOP is.
If any of my money went to Scuzzy, I’d be furious. However, this family (a couple g enerations worth) quit GOP donations in the era of George Bush. Apparently they have a lot to learn.

I would hope the electorate will be unmoved by all of this and vote for the conservative candidate and for that reason alone. Our biggest problem will be the progressive’s choice for winning elections…fraud and the’ve already started. How many dead people and dogs will vote? See just how they are doing it today for NY-23 at bizzyblog.com. This is a eyeopening glimpse into what we will deal with in 2010 We on the right should employee everyone of their tactics and more.

We’re going to have to watch all these races like hawks. It is now obvious that she was almost a Democratic “plant”. How many other fake GOP candidates should we expect? Do we really have a choice anymore? Not unless we back people like Hoffman.
Many said that we shouldn’t follow Glenn Beck and Limbaugh, or we’d divide the GOP and keep the Dem’s in. This is a prime example of why they are wrong. By backing her, we would have been keeping the Dem’s in.

If you’re going to vote for the “moderate” Republican (RINO) when you have a chance to support a real Conservative, you might as well just be honest about it and vote for the democrat/leftist/progressive. It’d be more honest.

We need to get all of the “progressive”, reach-across-the-aisle types out of congress in 2010.
If anyone wants to reach across the aisle and accommodate the other party, let it be the democrats. It’s time that we had people in congress who will stand firm on Conservative principles and not sell us out.

I sure hope that Rush is right and there is a democrat bloodbath in ‘10. But we all have to do our part and help it happen. No more sitting on the sidelines watching the battle.

I predict this will backfire on dede. I just saw a poll with Hoffman ahead with over 50 %.

And vote for Hoffman! Please and thank you.

I think we are being over-generous in calling the likes of Dede a RINO. She was / is an out and out fraud. How can she claim to be Republican when nothing she believes in is even remotely conservative? And what kind of morons do they have in the “Republican” organization that chose her to represent the party (and that includes you, Gingrich and Steele). I agree with the commenters who say we need to ferret out all the pretenders in this party and get back to real conservatism.

Never mind Dede, Newt or other out of staters. Who is running the NY Republicans that picked her to represent Republicans? What cast of characters approved the selection and gave up the $1m bucks? The Republican leaders in NY should be held accountable. Didn’t they know about this woman, and why not, or what was their reasoning for this? How could she possibly work her way up for the Republican selection without anyone else knowing?

During which time Gingrich assured us she was the candidate of choice. Somewhere, somehow, the GOP is going to have to get on the same page.
Newt is going to be nothing more than an author going forward. His political heft is completely lost now.

Well, what’s possible when ya have no scruples. Did she not drain GOP money away from real GOP candidates with this?
A cool million of the GOP funds put to use AGAINST the GOP.
With all due respect she don’t look that deviously smart. She didn’t think of this herself.
The GOP is not facing the fact that this is political war and they better learn quick or be evicerated.
