You know, you’d think that OBrezhnev would at least consult someone more knowledgeable than himself (I know, I know…is there such a being here on Earth??) in Asian cultural practices before looking like a damn beaten puppy before the emperor and chairman Hu. I’m no expert, but from what I know the ‘bow’ in Japanese culture is more like an intense nod rather than a my-torso-becomes-parallel-to-the-ground type of deal…..Frickin’ wussy :(

I’d prefer he didn’t bow at all or merely nodded his head, but this isn’t the subservient full-body bow that was so objectionable in the earlier instance.

What an idiot! I have never been so ashamed of who is in the White House than now. He and Michelle are the worst I have ever seen with no class and no idea of proper manners with foreign dignataries. They are a total embarrassment to our country! They are the Clampets at best! What an absolute joke and the joke is on us! God help us!

Bowing to the Chinese President makes perfect sense in that “Teh Obamao” is showing servitude to the his masters. If he ever expects them to loan him the money to get death care,a 2nd stimulus package and the kneecap and enslave global warming garbage he will need their financial support.

Now, now, be nice.

Unless you like the concepts of debt repudiation and credit failure, you might as well get used to the fact that all manner of diverse foreigners now OWN us, just like the the farm is really owned by the mortgage bank. We could probably cover part of the debt by giving them our national parks and forests — but if we really want to make a dent, we’re going to need to start producing more American babies to sell into slavery.

(Sarcasm Off) Good God, how could we have allowed things to come to this? I pray that our posterity will forgive us for being so weak and short-sighted.

That looks like a “bow” to me. He “bows” even when there is no reason to bow, the chinese he bowed to was a president not a monarch. As per rules of etiquette a “bow” is only required for royalty not for a 2-bit head of state.
The only one he didn’t bowed to was the queen of England. I would have gave him a pass on that one, at least England is our friend.
To me it looks like he wants people to like him, even his enemies. He doesn’t want anyone to steal his lunch money. President Bush didn’t bow to anyone and he let his fist do all the talking for him.

Chinese like foreign devils to kow tow, not bow.

To kow tow properly, Obama should kneel with both his knees on the floor, palms flat on either side, thump his head on the floor three times, get up with bowed head, walk backward 3 steps, kneel, and repeat 2 times.

Note that U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, who was mostly at Obama’s side, also shook Hu Jintao’s hand, respectfully, but did not even give a head nod, much less a bow. Huntsman is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, is supposedly very familiar with the culture, and did not see it necessary to bow. Is Obama doing all these bows on his own, or does he have a bunch of doofusses for a protocol team?

Kinda odd, that he would “bow” in such an egalitarian society as communist china, which strikes me as a BLATANT! act of supplication.

Having lived in japan for a short time, I might accidentally bow to a chinese, but it, actually is a show of weakness for him to bow in china.

What’s sad is that the Chinese don’t bow, except in very special circumstances like public apologies. They don’t do it in normal greeting. They haven’t since the Cultural Revolution.
