I’m not sure which is worse; Obama perennially forgetting to render ANY honors to the flag, or his forgetting that, as a lifelong civilian (yes, even as C-in-C, he’s a civilian) he is not ENTITLED to render the military hand salute, as he did during his photo-op at Dover, and again at Ft. Hood.

The proper salute for him is hand-over-heart, and doffing of headgear if wearing any.

His intent may very well be good (I’ve no proof either way), but his knowledge of customs and courtesies both civilian and military is below grade-school level. And is beginning to border on usurpation.

Does anybody besides me ever wonder what must be going through the heads of most of our Senators–all of whom have served in national office longer than this dweeb has. I mean, until a year ago, he was nothing more than a freshman Senator who hadn’t even served one whole term, and who started running for President after only 120 days on the Senate job…. never held a hearing, never sponsored or introduced anything of significance—basically a half-assed seat-warmer.

Don’t you ever wonder what THEY must be thinking about this pompous little man who never even learned the ropes or “paid his dues” in the Senate—and now they’re supposed to look UP to HIM?

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that everything is done with the premise that there are more voters/citizens/potential voters that applaud his alleged “fo-paws” than those of us that are appalled or troubled by them. He’s too cagey, he’s too calculated, and as far as I can see everything he’s done in the last 20 years has been to be in the position he’s in now. I’m hoping his “calculations” are way off because of his ignorance as a result of being surrounded by “yes men” and people that agree with everything he does. If not, that would mean there are more people that are applauding him spitting on the military, law enforcement, elderly, and other groups. He and his ilk seem to think they have the advantage right now in order to bring our Nation to its knees so they can create and “fundamentally transform” America… one that pals with dictators with like minds, that hates Jews and Israel, that despises our military and soldiers, that gags at the thought of police officers and public safety people, and eventually evolves into a one-party nation of Democrats. The evidence is there if we really look for it. How many black Americans oppose him? How can ANY human being acting as President be acceptable to 90% of any group? He’s already identified that group as subservient slaves and he gets verification on a daily basis. Did we not see thousands of black Americans standing in line in Detroit for “Obama cash”? He KNOWS the majority of people that support him are stupid and cancel out the votes of informed intelligent citizens. They couldn’t recite the Vice-President’s name nevermind figure this mess out.He KNOWS the MSM are so condescending to minorities they would never consider challenging him on anything. He KNOWS that there’s only one news outlet that will even LOOK at the radical people he has placed in power and question them and there’s things in place to silence them while this all takes place. Remember when we all assumed Hillary was going to be the next President? He knows what is going on, what is in place, and has calculated his actions to reflect what he considers the majority of voters’ opinions of what he should do or say. I’m calculating he’s figured out the teenagers that are currently being indocrinated by our lefty education system will outnumber soldiers, cops, medical people, and others when it comes to the 2012 election. What about the Jewish vote? Anyone with half a brain sees he despises the Jews. How is it the Jewish people are supporting him and what pact with the devil did they make with him or at least what propaganda have they bought into? In addition to illegal aliens that will somehow be “legal” voters before those elections and the number of surfs beholden to the Democrats as a result of Health Care takeovers, the surfs that find themselves in government positions, he’s already figured out he will win. When have we seen such an assault on our Constitution? Forced healthcare or we go to jail? Yeah, that’s Constitutional! He doesn’t care. We are in perilous times and if we don’t do something about it we will be recorded in history as the generation that allowed our country to devolve into the Banana Republic that appears to be our destiny with this guy in office. We’ll be known as the “worst generation.”

I’m not defending Obama in any way. I will be happy when he is out of office.

But, the custom of a civilian placing their hand over their heart applies to the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, not the playing of the National Anthem.

The custom for the National Anthem is to stand, remove anything covering your head remain QUIET while the Anthem is played.

Most of you complaining about this probably do far worse when the Anthem is played before a sporting event.

This is not surprising seeing how he wasn’t raised in this country. We all learned to respect our flag and our anthem in elementary school. He was in a muslim school in Indonesia. He doesn’t know anything about this country. He certainly doesn’t know how to be our President. He is in that office because he was “super-funded” all the way through our election system. I believe the people behind him know exactly why he is so calculated and they approve. It seems our entire executive branch and most of our legislative branch don’t believe in our system of government and want to “change” it into something else.

§ 301. National anthem

(a) Designation.— The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.

(b) Conduct During Playing.— During a rendition of the national anthem—
(1) when the flag is displayed—
(A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;

(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and

(C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and
(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

I have to say, though, I really do hope that, in the wake of the Fort Hood massacre, more people will hit the tipping point and realize what’s going on.

At the very least, every single one of the talk radio hosts is really, really ripping the political correctness in the military. I’m guessing that maybe 10 percent of the population listens in, and probably 20 or 30 percent of likely voters. If a good percentage of those talk to their friends, maybe sanity can start spreading? We can hope, anyway.

I was at Arlington and the Changing of the Guard on 9/11 this year. I can remember feeling so guilty through all these years of not paying attention to what is happening in our country, maybe not teaching my kids enough about preserving our freedoms, our heritage, our Contitution and our brave founding fathers, who signed their own death warrants when they signed the Constitution.

I wouldn’t stop at the JFK memorial because Ted Kennedy was buried there. Such an insult and shows how far our government has evolved in honoring a womanizing pervert and murderer. Along side men like Audie Murphy out of the millions of brave men and women, this is a such a slap in the face; as bad as Barry in the picture which tells us exactly what he thinks of America. Granted, it would not matter at all to me even if he did salute. Would be just another photo op; at least here in this picture, he is being honest, if not for the first time.

The location is clearly the amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery.

The official Arlington Cemetery site has another photo of the same event (Memorial Day 2009), taken from a different angle; Obama is still just standing there with his hands over his privates – - which is a posture he seems to favor when he doesn’t know what to do with his hands. Military people can be see saluting in the background.

There is a photo from later in the event when the dignitaries are at a completely different location (no stage or podium, red carpet). There’s a crowd visible at this location.
In that photo, Obama has his hand over his heart. It’s clearly from a different portion of the day’s events.

So he sometimes gets it right, apparently. But he clearly doesn’t always get it right, which means it’s not an ingrained habit with him, but rather something he has to THINK about doing.

Oh, and there is no requirement on anyone’s part to salute “Hail To The Chief.” It’s not an official theme, and musically, only the Anthem merits rendering of honors.

Lou Dobbs just questions why Obama wouldn’t present his birth certificate in court and he’s receiving death threats and flying bullets. Wake the h*ll up. America is being dismantled and taken over in front of everyone’s eyes. Stop apologizing for him and questioning what is going on in the photo. You can clearly tell by the context: men in uniform are saluting, man in suit has hand on heart. That is the protocol for behavior during the national anthem. See Rob’s post #55. Obama is not in uniform, has never served in the military, and thus should be holding his right hand over his heart instead of cradling his groin.

I’m not an OBUMMER apologist at all, but official photos of this year’s Veteran’s Day ceremony clearly show the President in a blue tie, wearing an overcoat.

There is, however, a picture very similar to this one on the Arlington National Cemetery from this year’s Memorial Day commemoration. It clearly shows the other 3 men, in uniform saluting as in this pic, and the same civilian, with his hand over his heart. It shows the President clearly saluting with his hand over his heart. It looks, from the pic, that a bugler is playing taps when this pic was taken.

This pic, as displayed above, has clearly been photoshopped.

Here is the etiquette for citizens when the National Anthem is being played. I am surprised by the comments here that think one should not salute (if military) and not put ones hand over their heart if civilian (which is the non-military salute)

I will repeat my theory, Obongo was prolly born in Hawaii but changed his citizenship when he was taken to Indonesia. They do not have dual citizenship therefore I think this is Exhibit A. Exhibit B is that his real daddy is not BO Sr but is Franklin Marshall Davis, leading commie in the USA at that time and his mentor. (Good close friend of Mama). I think these two items are what he is hiding and all the records would show it. What does anyone else think??

The picture of course is # 3 in a slide series, #4 shows the President properly holding his hand over his heart while the National Anthem is played.
What is pathetic is how big a joke the people are who fabricated this hoax about the President ‘not aluting’ They are bold faced chiken hearted liars and traitors to the United States. Not liking a president or disagreeing with his policies are one thing. Lying and fabricating stories are the sign of weak, feeble brains who couldn’t manage to do well flipping hamburgers at McDonalds.
The biggest joke of all are the empty headed people who accept on sight the veracity of the picture and the lie.

According to Snopes, FactCheck.org and others this photo is from the Memorial Day service at Arlington not Veterans Day and the band is playing “Hail to the Chief”. So the military officers are, in fact, saluting the president as protocol requires when “Hail to the Chief” is played. Of course the President would not salute himself. There is video of the event on the internet. The photo is clearly taken from that event.
