So-called Blue Dog Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) told constituents that he is OK with jailing Americans who don’t buy health insurance:
Steve in Chicago was at the event and asked Rep. Lipinski if he was OK with jailing Americans for not purchasing health insurance:
I attended a townhall meeting held by my Congressman, Dan Lipinski (D), Illinois, 3rd District. Rep. Lipiniski voted for HR 3962 and asked if someone could tell him how they are forced to go on the public option. I was happy to explain it to him.
I pointed out to the Congressman that we need look no further than Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s own words – she believes it’s fair for people to go to jail if they don’t purchase insurance. I asked Congressman Lipinski two questions:
1) Do you agree with Nancy Pelosi that it’s fair to throw the uninsured in jail? and
2) If the public option is just an option and no one is forced to take it, why are people going to be thrown in jail if they don’t?
For those of you who are surprised to learn that people will be required to buy insurance, and if they don’t they will be fined and jailed, it’s in HR 3962.
I didn’t bother asking about the constituion this time since I was certain that question would be blown off even more readily.
Yeah. That Lipinski sounds like a real moderate.

I know a number of people who do not have insurance coverage, and choose not to buy it. However, they have boats and motorcycles and lots and lots of adult toys. Interesting thing is that on the whole, the ones without insurance are Democrats. I wonder how they’ll feel when their god puts them in jail for noncompliance.

typical Utopianists by any other name..
“FREE TOOKIE”
drive health insurance costs up to unaffordable
rates, eventually shutting down the industry..
result: jail people who cannot cannot
afford to purchase health insurance..
result: forced PUBLIC OPTION
up is down, in is out, back is forth, etc..
OT link, just want to empathize a paragraph
relevant to Obama Administrations actions..
We must come to understand that slavery can come in many forms and under many names. It may still be of a physical nature, best represented today perhaps by imprisonment. What kind of a society imprisons 2 million of its people? Is not media propaganda, government indoctrination of our school children, and mandatory sensitivity training a form of intellectual or mental slavery? Can’t we become slaves to our passions, our fears, or any series of misconceptions and falsehoods on which we act? Can we not be legislated into slavery, or simply taxed into it?

We are self employed and must procure our own insurance through a Health Savings Acct. (the House bill nullifies HSA’s, by the way).
A couple of our competitors do not have health insurance, and you guessed it, they are cheap, irresponsible Democrats. One of them had a meager liability policy, was knocked out of a bidding competition and then complained. The rules stated you had to prove a minimum liability coverage of $500,000.
Also, some key Obama voting blocs are now complaining that they suffer the highest unemployment rates.I knew this would happen.
I resent having the lack of responsibility on the part of millions of slackers and illegals spread over this entire nation.
The market already has a mechanism for dealing with losers. It’s called “you’re screwed.” Why must me reward failure? It only promotes failure.

Millions of the uninsured (either by choice or b/c they lost it or are illegal, non citizens) CURRENTLY receive magnificent care in this country. They occupy every clinic and hospital, particularly in urban areas.
Care is most certainly NOT denied to the poor, the uninsured or illegal immigrants, in fact, we bend over backwards to assure everyone gets beautiful care, including language interpreters.
Those who are not citizens currently stress our system; when we add 20 -40?? million more non citizens (AKA Obama re-election voters) THEN the system will be completely swamped. THAT is the problem.
THEY are not and have not been penalized.
NOW, suddenly, members of Congress discuss ” penalties for not having unsurance” and punishing ‘irresponsibility?” Excuse me?
Are they insane or really that dumb?
If the uninsured are such a strain on the system (as we know they are) then the logical fix is to limit illegal immigration.
Do any of us think we could ever enter ANY other country illegally, then demand (and receive) housing, full medical care, schooling for our children, interpreters in the hospitals and schools, in state tuition in universities, as well as voting rights (a la ACORN)?
The other country (Mexico, France, Kenya, etc) would throw us out on our ears! (or imprison us)…

I called the congressman’s office, and explained to him what the commerce clause in the constitution allows, I told him it gives him the right to promote commerce, but not to implement or impose health care on anyone. I also mentioned that I believed Mr. Obama is trying to implement the Cloward/Piven strategy of destroying capitolism, so he can implement marxism. I suggested when this is all over, many people may be going to federal prison, and if the congressmen wants to stay clean, he should follow the oath he took. He proceeded to tell me that Mr. Obama went to Harvard, and is a lawyer, as though that makes him honest. I told him Ted Bundy was a lawyer also.

The argument that we have to buy car insurance is specious on it’s face and these traitors MUST be called on it. The requirement to purchase liability insurance for your car is regulated by the individual state not the Federal government. This Federal government requirement to purchase health insurance is a violation of the 10th Amendment, the Commerce Clause and an illegal taking which is also unconstitutional.
Here is the rub, any Rep or Senator who voted for this bill is in violation of their oath to protect and uphold the Constitution. They should be impeached immediately.
Yeah, I know —- Good Luck with that.

I’ve not had insurance for 14 years. At more than $600.00 per month, that means I’ve been able to save more than $100-thousand dollars.
When I’ve needed a doctor’s care, I’ve gone in with “my insurance card”. My checkbook.
Twice I’ve been at the point when I couldn’t have made the insurance payments; following 9/11 and after the recent economic downturn.
I would have spent $100-thousand dollars and lost my coverage when I was unable to cover the monthly cost.
If my choice is buying this free insurance or going to jail, I guess it’s jail time for me. Or, I suppose, I could close my business and go on the dole. Mebbe get one of them government jobs.

First off, ‘aprilnovember811′, excellent post.
And Steve, hell of a job buddy. Your clear and direct questions asked at the town hall gathering speak directly to the extreme controversy surrounding this departure from our founding Constitution.
Freedom-”the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. Exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc. The power to determine action without restraint. Political or national independence.”
Are we still using the same definition for freedom as Congress? The sheer fact alone that Americans will be penalized for NOT doing something is in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States. While there are certain instances that restrict freedom (e.g. killing or harming another person), they are merely in place to preserve the safety of Americans. If an American (or anyone for that matter) is injured in this Country [without insurance], they will be treated immediately at ANY emergency room in ANY state.
This bill is wrong. It is un-American. And it is a direct violation of the Constitution. It must be stopped. Once again, great job at the town hall meeting Steve!

re: [He proceeded to tell me that
Mr. Obama went to Harvard]
Health ‘Reform’ Gets a Failing Grade
[Speeches and news reports can lead you to believe that proposed congressional legislation would tackle the problems of cost, access and quality. But that's not true. The various bills do deal with access by expanding Medicaid and mandating subsidized insurance at substantial cost—and thus addresses an important social goal. However, there are no provisions to substantively control the growth of costs or raise the quality of care. So the overall effort will fail to qualify as reform.
[..]
Worse, currently proposed federal legislation would undermine any potential for real innovation in insurance and the provision of care. It would do so by overregulating the health-care system in the service of special interests such as insurance companies, hospitals, professional organizations and pharmaceutical companies, rather than the patients who should be our primary concern.
In effect, while the legislation would enhance access to insurance, the trade-off would be an accelerated crisis of health-care costs and perpetuation of the current dysfunctional system—now with many more participants. This will make an eventual solution even more difficult. Ultimately, our capacity to innovate and develop new therapies would suffer most of all.
[..]
So the majority of our representatives may congratulate themselves on reducing the number of uninsured, while quietly understanding this can only be the first step of a multiyear process to more drastically change the organization and funding of health care in America. I have met many people for whom this strategy is conscious and explicit.
We should not be making public policy in such a crucial area by keeping the electorate ignorant of the actual road ahead.

Note that the form referring to Michelle Obama, shown in this article, and found about December 2008, is no longer available on the web. A search of the ARDC’s lawyer-search- function yields nothing for Michelle or Barack Obama. Perhaps both gave up their Illinois law license, but if so, a record does not appear on the ARDC website. There seems to be no record that either of them ever practiced law in Illinois, and there is no record that Michelle began paying the required reduced fee and registration in 2000.

Health is something you are born with. It is under your direct stewardship.
Health Care is a job. You can do this yourself or you can to go to school and get certificates of competency to provide it to others for a living.
Health Costs are the price of this service called health care. If you offer it free to at least one third of your customers, the price is going to get very high for the other 2/3 of your customers.
Only the federal government would think that EXPANDING the service without changing anything else will make it cheaper or more effective. Any twit with half a business brain can figure out they are (a) lying or (b) delusional/stupid.
They better start building the jails.

They are going to have to build new prisons in the desert for all the new prisoners who don’t buy health insurance. Ironically these new prisoners will have some of the best medical treatment in the world while in prison.
The illegals will be laughing all the way to the bank, getting free medical without paying for it and no consequences. And on top of that, they will have new job opportunities replacing the incarcerated US citizens.

Someone should have pointed out that this bill makes individual policies illegal. This means that if you are an individual, you will be FORCED onto the public option on day 1!
This is what happens when there is a 2000 page bill that NOBODY has READ!
Also note that once abortions are added to the public option, per the new czar of coverage, individuals will be subsidizing the murder of babies.
And yes, there will be many PERMANENTLY refusing to do this and going to jail for LIFE!

However, during his non-answer he pointed out that some people would get subsidies to help pay for their insurance, as if that would placate a room of independence loving tax PAYERS!
Which brings us to the truth…socialized medicine as a form of redistrubition or reparations, which requires not just the rich, but the middle class, to help “spread it around”.

Obama’s Real Bill Ayers Problem
[Instead of planting bombs in public buildings, Ayers now works to indoctrinate America's future teachers in the revolutionary cause, urging them to pass on the lessons to their public school students.
Indeed, the education department at the University of Illinois is a hotbed for the radical education professoriate. As Ayers puts it in one of his course descriptions, prospective K–12 teachers need to "be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and . . . be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, a teacher teaching for social justice and liberation." Ayers's texts on the imperative of social - justice teaching are among the most popular works in the syllabi of the nation's ed schools and teacher-training institutes. One of Ayers's major themes is that the American public school system is nothing but a reflection of capitalist hegemony. Thus, the mission of all progressive teachers is to take back the classrooms and turn them into laboratories of revolutionary change.
[..]
Ayers’s influence on what is taught in the nation’s public schools is likely to grow in the future. Last month, he was elected vice president for curriculum of the 25,000 – member American Educational Research Association (AERA), the nation’s largest organization of education – school professors and researchers.
Teachers: They’re All Bill Ayers Now
[But there is precious little for serious scholars to review in this or any of his other books on education. Ayers offers a pastiche of self-promoting observations on the classroom, the need to inform children about “social justice,” like-minded radicals, and complaints about conservatives. Consider this from To Teach: “I know I celebrate a kind of teaching that is exceedingly rare. I know that becoming an outstanding teacher is an heroic quest: One must navigate turbulent and troubled waters, overcome a seemingly endless sea of obstacles, and face danger and challenge (often alone), on the way toward an uncertain reward. Teaching is not for the weak or the faint-hearted; courage and imagination are needed to move from myth to reality.” Such a passage inspires curiosity about the kind of drawing that might accompany it in the graphic novel.
Such self-aggrandizement occurs in his other books — and the fluffy style does indeed support the speculation that he was the ghost writer of Obama’s two autobiographies.]

They are in prison for their part in the murder of two police officers and a guard as the result of a robbery of a Brinks armored car in New York at the late, unradical date of 1981.
[..]
To make clear he has embraced the ideology of all his parents, he observes: “We have a different name for the war we’re fighting now—now we call it the war on terrorism, then they called it the war on communism. My parents were all dedicated to fighting U.S. imperialism around the world. I’m dedicated to the same thing.”]

What these fools in congress do not understand is that for the majority of employers if given a choice between mandatory health insurance for the staff or paying an 8% payroll tax, it’s cheaper to pay the tax than buy the insurance at the current market price let alone at the much higher price that the legislation with it’s additional mandates will result in.
Small company with 100 employees, privately owned: 100 employees x $5,000 annual 100% paid HMO coverage for employee alone = $500,000 health insurance cost for the employer. Average annual wage compensation per employee @$40,000 = annual payroll of $4,000,00 x 8% tax = $320,000 in tax – $500,000 in insurance premium = $180,000 saving for employer.
100 employees losing $5,000 in tax free benefits equals a gross pay cut of $500,000 = to a 12.5% cut @ $40,000 per employee. To compensate the reduction in benefits the employee would have to gross an additional an additional $5,000 a year (in this economy!) more before taxes just to stay even, but since this isn’t contemplated the real extra income for the employee would need to break even is $6250 to cover current income/payroll/state income taxes to net the $5000 value. Calculation based on 6.2% employee paid payroll tax + 15% federal income tax + 4% state income tax.
Therefore the employee would need to gross $46250 to stay even which represents a 15% pay increase from the employer if they were inclined to do so. Except they are most likely not to be so inclined, especially in this economy.
The democrats will require everyone to be insured so the 100 employees will now be forced to buy their own coverage; 100 employees x $5000 = $500,000 in wages committed to health insurance or a real 12.5% pay cut in gross cash income + the loss of the previous employer paid tax free benefit which now is a cash obligation of the employee = 25% real pay cut for each employee in terms of purchasing power.
However most people can’t afford such a reduction in their purchasing power they instead will elect to go without insurance resulting in a penalty to the employee of 2.5% of gross payroll. 2.5% tax of $ 40,000 = $1,000.
So for most of the employees who are not ill and in need of medical coverage in any given year (assuming most are below age 50) the choice between paying $5,000 in health insurance premiums or a $1,000 tax is the equivalent of a 10% increase by paying the tax.
Only democrats can call a scheme a reform where the employer of a company that employs 100 workers can save $180,000 on a $4,000,00 payroll by dropping employe health benefits resulting in either the employee take the equivalent of a 25% pay cut if he were to purchase the current HMO coverage himself or lose 2.5% of his/her pay in the form of a payroll tax for not purchasing coverage resulting in the government becoming the insurance carrier which would result in the loss of the employers $500,000 contribution to health insurance premiums resulting in the government to absorb that cost: $500,000 – employer penalty of $320,000 = $180,000 loss to the government in premiums – employee penalty of $100,000 (100 x $40,000 x 2.5%) netting the government an $80,000 loss of premium income. And that is assuming no claims are filed in the policy year.
Only democrats can believe such things, no ordinary person can be that big a fool. Yet congress gets it since they have made sure in every version of the bills they are always exempted along with the president, vice president, the federal judiciary and the federal workforce. It’s just you the average American who isn’t good enough to be exempted. What a country!

Not everyone who is uninsured chooses to be. My daughter for example, a 5th yr college senior too old for us to cover on health ins., works two UNPAID internships while carrying a full load so she can finish up her 5 yr degree in family financial planning with a minor in child and family development. She can only hold down a part time 4 hour job on Saturdays at a local ice cream shop with her study load and two unpaid internships. She cannot afford to purchase health ins. on her own, not even close and she doesn’t own a car or a boat! Under Pelosi’s plan, the fines go into effect in 2010 but the health ins. coverage for uninsureds like her with subsidies and the like to help her pay for it, won’t kick in for 3 to 5 to 7 years! She has a 4.0 grade average and has been offered an assitantship by the dean of her school which will pay for grad school after she gets her bachelor degree this December. She will I guess if this bill passes, have to turn this assistantship down as she will either be in jail in 2010 because she can’t afford health ins. or the fines for not being able to afford it. The two unpaid internships my daughter works now are for one working with the cooperative extension service counseling young single mothers on how to budget so they can afford better housing and number two is working with habitat for humanity doing the same type counseling with the poor so they can learn how to budget and be able to qualify to recieve a habitat house and be able to keep it once they receive it. It is a shame that someone like my 23 yr old daughter who has a chance to further advance her education so she can be better able to help those who need her help most will have to turn down this wonderful opportunity for grad school, to go out and get a job either with health ins. benefits or one that pays enough for her to be able to purchase health ins. on her own should this bill pass. Not everyone who is without health ins. is so by choice, not everyone is choosing not be buy health insurance and instead buying cars and boats in the place of health ins. and I am getting darn tired of hearing that from the Dems. This is not even close to the truth…….. The truth is that many bright young folks, like my daughter and my 21 yr old son for that matter just can’t get or afford health ins. now. My son works at a super bldg supply store one hour short of full time (not by his choice) but because the super store does not want to have to cover him on their full time health ins. plan….Should this bill pass, there are MANY fine young people like my children who are just starting out in life, who will be fined or jailed just because they can’t afford health ins. should this bill pass And the small business owners like my husband and my self, don’t get me started on that! We own two small retail businesses and are already struggling just to keep the doors open in these difficult economic times. My husband had a stroke at the very young age of 48, leaving him with partial leg paralysis. With his pre existing conditions, our individual purchased health ins. premiums went up so high we had to cancel coverage or go bankrupt trying to pay the premiums, now no one will insure him. With fines and jail time starting in 2010 and no help for those uninsureds like those mentioned in my own family, kicking in for 3 to 5 to 7 years…..you may just see this hard working middle class family of four all thrown into the slammer….one bright college girls future crushed…a hard working young man just starting out on his own thrown into jail…and two small businesses that have been in business for 30 years now closed down and the two small business owners thrown into jail…. I just hope they are planning on building jails with a “family” plan because there will be LOTS of American families along with us there! Someone please ask Congressman Dan Lipinski or Pelosi or Obama how they can explain the logic of this or justify that happening! It simply can’t be legal and certainly isn’t right! May God help us all…..should Pelosi and the Dems Health care plan pass!
