The Goracle told an audience in Germany last year that “the entire North Polarized cap will disappear in 5 years.”

It wasn’t the first time he’d made the claim. Gore had been talking this nonsense for over a year already.

Today, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon disputed the former Vice-President.
The Times Online reported:

There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming.

I’d like to see that windbag talk himself into oblivion. Unfortunately, that won’t happen because he has too much money (ill gotten) and will find something else to hawk!

Clearly a result of increased livestock in the tropics of northern Scotland, due to global warming.

You can tell the man’s getting pretty desperate; as is the entire junk science community in Dopenhagen – now telling us that the proverbial “clock” is running out – as though it will all end tomorrow if we don’t send trillions of our dollars to their “developing countries” (Note: China is considered a ‘developing country’) to slay some fire-breathing dragon that Albert Gore – a politician and snake oil salesman, not a scientist – tells us is now breathing down our necks.

I’m looking forward to the final chapter. It started out as fiction and has turned into a total farce.

We can expect to see Al taking over for the late Billy Mays.

I agree with WOW, this thing is going to blow up, just not sure when. I say we just wait it out. Five years. If there is so much as an ice cube where the polar caps are, I’m calling, “bunk” on the Goracle! *again wink*

I think we should start a website for the prophet [Gore] and call it http://www.flatearth.com (it’s sure to be a-’round’ for a while). Honestly, this thing should end with Gore being eaten by a polar bear don’t you think? Fitting final chapter.

    Just for fun:

(2/27/07 – NASHVILLE, TN) — Back home in Tennessee, safely ensconced in his suburban Nashville home, Vice President Al Gore is no doubt basking in the Oscar awarded to “An Inconvenient Truth,” the documentary he inspired and in which he starred. But a local free-market think tank is trying to make that very home emblematic of what it deems Gore’s environmental hypocrisy.

Armed with Gore’s utility bills for the last two years, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research charged Monday that the gas and electric bills for the former vice president’s 20-room home and pool house devoured nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006, more than 20 times the national average of 10,656 kilowatt-hours.

“If this were any other person with $30,000-a-year in utility bills, I wouldn’t care,” says the Center’s 27-year-old president, Drew Johnson. “But he tells other people how to live and he’s not following his own rules.”

Scoffed a former Gore adviser in response: “I think what you’re seeing here is the last gasp of the global warming skeptics. They’ve completely lost the debate on the issue so now they’re just attacking their most effective opponent.”

Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for the Gores, did not dispute the Center’s figures, taken as they were from public records. But she pointed out that both Al and Tipper Gore work out of their home and she argued that “the bottom line is that every family has a different carbon footprint. And what Vice President Gore has asked is for families to calculate that footprint and take steps to reduce and offset it.”

that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”
    ………………………..
Oh! He’s slipping about here because he’s being cornered. The usual quote is a bit shorter, no “Summer” and no “completely ice free” and no “75%”.
It’s just, “The polar caps will completely melt in 5 years.”
It’s the South Park moment, “Half man, half bear and half pig.”
It SOUNDS fine in that intoning delivery, then it’s “… half? half? half? Wait a minute.”
All lawyer talk! The North Pole could melt 100% tomorrow and make zero sea level difference – it’s already displacing its mass, but it refreezes for winter. So flippin’ WHAT it melts in summer! So does my backyard POND.
And it’s -50F all winter, in dismal Arctic endless night.
Gore always makes himself scarce when the autumn leaves begin to fall.
AL Gore could intone, “Look there’s a butterfly” in such a manner that weak-minded people would dive for cover, quivering.

Al Gore has always had a problem with the truth.

During the 2000 election he made up a story about his mother being forced to buy a prescription drug designed for veterinary use because it was one third the price of the of the version approved for human use. His story was intended to demonize the evil drug companies for price gouging.

The story began to fall apart when they asked which pharmacy in Washington quoted tthe price and he became evasive. It collapseed when somebody found the vet formula had only a third of the strength of the human.

Even the MSM was after him on that whopper.

I fail to see how the possibility of AGW still even remains a viable issue in the scientific community.

All one needs do is look at the ice core record for the last 10,000 years and it is CLEAR that global temps rise and fall in a wave pattern on a regular basis and the current “hockeystick” is miniscule when compared to prior increases.

I was just reading a bit.

I’ve been comparing the percentages of how much CO2 we produce compared to other lifeforms on this planet rather often on this blog.

But here’s the real killer that shows that the whole CO2 “theory” makes no sense at all:

Earth: CO2 in the atmosphere ~0.04% of which mankind produces ~0.4% (I’m rounding up here, it’s actually lower than 0.04 and 0.4)

    Mars: CO2 in the atmoshpere… 95%

Why is it colder on Mars? It has sooo much more CO2!

Or maybe it is… because the SUN’s influence on Mars is lower than on us, because we are CLOSER to the sun than Mars and thus get the brunt of her power, compared to Mars?

The benevolent Lord Monckton shares the truth in subliminal earth shattering glory. But don’t take my word for it.

That McCain failed to read Monckton’s correspondence to him was McCain’s bane [archived @ American Thinker]. McCain, like Gore, relies on conversational briefings of polls, not even of scientific evidence, never his own research to verify the basis for decisions prior to mounting assaults like McCain’s comprehensive amnesty for illegal aliens.

Well, it’s been 5 years and by now there should be SOME proof that can easily be seen by the naked eye. But Gore keeps moving the goalposts and keeps cranking up the hysteria, in a desperate attempt to cash in on his carbon-trading con game.

Al Gore’s silly misstatement that the North Pole ice cap will disappear in five years underlines a very bad few days for the UN Climate Change Summit. The UN Secretary-General spoke of “posturing.”

Wonder why there has been so much press claiming the CRU emails contain nothing.
First, take a look at this …

DOE-SR [Savannah River] has received a “Litigation Hold Notice” from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) General Council and the DOE Office of Inspector General regarding the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England.

… then, take a look at email 1256765544.txt

    > Imagine if there were no reliable
    >records of global surface temperature. Raucous
    >policy debates such as cap-and-trade would have
    >no scientific basis, Al Gore would at this point
    >be little more than a historical footnote, and
    >President Obama would not be spending this U.N.
    >session talking up a (likely unattainable)
    >international climate deal in Copenhagen in
    >December. Steel yourself for the new reality,
    >because the data needed to verify the
    >gloom-and-doom warming forecasts have disappeared.
    >
    > Or so it seems. Apparently, they were
    >either lost or purged from some discarded
    >computer. Only a very few people know what really
    >happened, and they aren’t talking much. And what
    >little they are saying makes no sense.
    > In the early 1980s, with funding from
    >the U.S. Department of Energy, scientists at the
    >United Kingdom’s University of East Anglia
    >established the Climate Research Unit (CRU) to
    >produce the world’s first comprehensive history
    >of surface temperature.
    It’s known in the trade
    >as the “Jones and Wigley” record for its authors,
    >Phil Jones and Tom Wigley, and it served as the
    >primary reference standard for the U.N.
    >Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
    >until 2007. It was this record that prompted the
    >IPCC to claim a “discernible human influence on global climate.”

    > All of this is much more than an
    >academic spat. It now appears likely that the
    >U.S. Senate will drop cap-and-trade climate
    >legislation from its docket this fall – whereupon
    >the Obama Environmental Protection Agency is
    >going to step in and issue regulations on
    >carbon-dioxide emissions. Unlike a law, which
    >can’t be challenged on a scientific basis, a
    >regulation can. If there are no data, there’s no
    >science.
U.S. taxpayers deserve to know the
    >answer to the question posed above. (Patrick J.
    >Michaels is a senior fellow in environmental
    >studies at the Cato Institute and author of
    >Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don’t Want You to Know.) “

It all comes down to this – the earth’s population falls into two categories – those of intelligence and those of stupidity. It is rather interesting that the leftards, those who profess to hold scientific facts above all else and regard others as inferior, religious folks, don’t use scientific facts when those facts don’t agree with their own ‘religious beliefs.’

    More Inconvenient Truths!

    Lying About Climate Change

The despicable Al Gore features in this story of how climate alarmists have knowingly and persistently lied to support their cause (or obsession). But so do prominent scientists who presumably should be held to a higher standard. Paul Reiter, a professor of medical entomology, writes in the Spectator.

They Don’t Love Nature – They Just Hate Mankind

The apotheosis of enviro-mentalism is Globaloney itself, of course; and its synecdoche is found in ClimateGate: erstwhile climate “scientists” became so absolutely certain that human technology is destroying the Earth that when the evidence just wouldn’t behave — when other scientists kept asking inconvenient questions and finding confounding and complicating answers — the true believers started falsifying the science, blocking independent investigation, banning publication by the wrong sorts, destroying the careers of “deniers,” and ultimately, so utterly politicizing the field of AGCC research (anthropogenic — “man caused” — global climate change) that today we face a mandated energy cut-off that could hurl us back into the Dark Ages.

At the core of enviro-mentalism is an arrogance so intense and narcissistic, it mimics the hubris of classical Greek theater: The AGCC inquisitors literally seem to believe they can remake the Earth by signing a treaty, passing a law, or electing one of the anointed. After all –

This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.
Environmentalism became a religion long before the rise of “global warming;” in fact, even before the earlier exercise in catastrophism, “global cooling.” The Endangered Species Act of 1973 was not the beginning, it was just the warning shot that should have been heard round the world, but was ignored. I suspect the First Church of Fundamentalist Enviro-Mentalism was founded in the early 19th century, wrought by the Romantics and their anti-industrialism nature-worship.

But it’s finally come to the boiling point today. And unless we find the guts and the will to turn off the heat — and if necessary, identify the lunatics who want to cleanse the planet of pesky humanity and exile them from the halls of science, politics, and the judiciary — we’ll all be boiled in our own primordial soup.
