Scott Brown, a former Cosmo Centerfold contest winner and conservative Republican from Massachusetts, is gaining momentum in the US Senate race to replace liberal Senator Ted Kennedy.

Scott Brown won Cosmo’s “America’s Sexiest Man” contest and appeared in the June 1982 issue.
Legal Insurrection has the latest:

There is Scott Brown the Senate candidate in Massachusetts, and there is Scott Brown, the musician in New Zealand. They each have Twitter accounts, but the Scott Brown from Down Under laid claim to @ScottBrown first, and the Senate candidate had to resort to @ScottBrownMA.

As the Boston Globe reports, in the past few days, as @ScottBrownMA has gained momentum through bloggers and twitterers and other social media, @ScottBrown has been inundated with people seeking @ScottBrownMA.

Despite, or maybe because of, Martha Coakley’s high profile as Massachusetts Attorney General, there doesn’t seem to be any grassroots enthusiasm for her campaign. Coakley has a sense of entitlement, but Brown is experiencing a groundswell of support.

Coakley’s Twitter account (@MarthaCoakley) has 1915 followers compared to 2322 for @ScottBrownMA.

Brown’s Facebook page has 8689 fans versus 6255 at Coakley‘s Facebook page. The BrownBrigade online network has 2517 members; I could find nothing similar for Coakley.

Clearly, despite lower name recognition, less money, and without the powerful union and entrenched political interests behind him, Scott Brown is gaining momentum the new-fashioned way. Will there be enough time to translate this momentum into votes?

Spread the word, by voice, e-mail, Tweet, Facebook, whatever.

By the way, Scott Brown’s daughter was a finalist on American Idol a few years back. He’s a good guy, and an attractive conservative candidate.

Here’s a great ad put out by the Scott Brown Campaign:

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown and President Kennedy are two different people, from different parties and different eras, but they agree that broad-based tax cuts will create jobs and stimulate the economy. In this creative campaign ad, Brown and Kennedy take turns reading from the same 1962 Kennedy speech calling for tax cuts.

Scott Brown’s New Year’s ad is pretty good, too.

Jules Crittenden has more on Scott Brown’s campaign.

UPDATE: BG found a video of Ayla Brown singing the Star Spangled Banner with the Boston Pops– Terrific!

Don’t you know those liberals at Cosmo must be having a FIT? How could a conservative guy like this grace their magazine?!

Good luck to him in the race. It would be a great day for Massachusetts AND the nation if he wins.

That is why this story ran, this is a hit piece, Mr. Brown is the coservative in this race and a challenging Republican for a Democrat seat. Start locking and loading and support the conservative wherever found. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE MSM. This is what liberals do when they cannot win on issues, They raise thier voices get shrill and call names, which means they have LOST the argument already.

We need all the help we can get electing Brown here in Mass. The whole country should be involved. If he wins, the Senate shifts: Dems 59 / Reps 41. His vote would be the 41st against Obamacare, and we could stop this travesty right away. Of course, they might still nuke it through, but that would be political suicide for many who might still be safe with a 60/40 push.

Anyone who can and will help us in Mass, please do. Go to the site GP’s listed and sign up to cold call Mass voters, donate to Brown’s campaign (it’s WAY underfunded), get involved. This election could really make a difference. The election is in less than three weeks. We can do this!!

Of course it’s a hit piece. If a Democrat had something like this on his resume, they’d make it a part of his “qualifications”. Kinda like the pictures of The Won with his shirt off.

Brown is a cutie now, and he was…well…umm…let’s just say “wow”…back then.

I am smiling about the Cosmo pictorial. I saw that on Hillbuzz, but I thought it was satire, lol!

    They call him “Dreamy”. :-D

I have been tweeting about @ScottBrownMA for days and will continue to do so, and I will blog about him, too.

One of the things I saw was that the few elections won by Republicans in MA have been special elections. I guess Libs don’t like to work so hard to go and vote on “off” elections. So that works in favor of dutiful Republicans and Conservatives. Don’t count this man out.

@ Opus, good point. Keep in mind, too, that there are more registered indies in Mass than either Dems or Reps. They are the key here, and we have to get the people to the polls because you’re right, dems think they have this locked up and that can work in our favor. They stay home, we don’t. ;)

Maybe the GOP isn’t involved because Scott Brown does not want them to. Kinda like how neither Virginia or New Jersey didn’t want Palin either. Brown might get more Ind votes with low key GOP involvement and is looking for us to fund his campaign. A tea party conservative so to speak.

Notice the wispyish nature of the momentum data
Facebook? twitter? Of course, the GOP has the wherewithal to conduct proper polls. But why the H would they care?

I have heard a rumor that the Boston Globe has conducted two polls, but has chosen not to publish the results. I wonder what that might mean…

Brown’s opponent Martha Coakley is a nightmare.
Pro-abortion. As Mass. A-G she’s challenging DOMA (fed defense of marriage law). She’s also connected to the infamous “Fistgate” scandal (also involving Gateway’s favorite, Kevin Jennings): She refused to prosecute any of the GLSEN perps back in 2000 who told kids how to fist. http://massresistance.blogspot.com/2009/12/kevin-jennings-his-glsen-fistgate.html

I’ve noticed that, too. It’s not that all conservatives or Republicans are drop dead gorgeous or anything. It’s just that libturds are so fugly. I believe it’s because they’re so angry and hateful and, sooner or later, that eats it’s way from the inside until it shows on the outside.

If the moonbats think publishing his 30 year old Cosmos photo is a smear they certainly missed the boat. Conservatives when I was in college Class of 1965 were the popular hot ones.
In ther early sixties the libturd dems were the freak fuglies out shouting on the ‘Fair Play for Cuba Committe’ a communist front and when that did not play with the public they leaped into action against the Viet nam War all backed with KGB cash.
Believe me the Cosmos photo will get him votes. Conservatives are the well-adjusted people unlike the libtard. Being well-adjusted means being happy with and enjoying your your sexuality as well as one’s physical good looks at any age.

    To: Bobbi #25 & Fuzzy #29,

Whenever I thought the final bill could be filibustered I was jumping up and down about this race. Bobbi, I believe, as you do, that Joe Kennedy will split the vote.

One interesting fact that is left out is that Joe Kennedy’s web site claims that he is “The Tea Party Candidate” even though I could not find any Tea Party group that claimed him.

I blogged about this race on the St. Louis Globe-Democrat web site:
