Police officers in Seattle shot Maurice Clemmons dead early Tuesday morning. Clemmons killed 4 police officers in an ambush Sunday at a coffee house in Lakewood, Washington.

Clemmons told his acquaintances about his intentions beforehand. They did not notifiy the authorities.
The AP reported:

The man suspected of gunning down four police officers in a suburban coffee shop was shot and killed by Seattle police early Tuesday, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Three other people were arrested for allegedly helping him elude authorities during a massive two-day manhunt.

Maurice Clemmons was shot to death in a working-class south Seattle neighborhood after police tracked him down using possible hiding spots supplied by Pierce County investigators, said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the county sheriff. Troyer told Fox News a single officer found Clemmons and shot and killed him. A couple dozen police officers milled around at the scene where Clemmons was apparently shot, shaking hands and patting each other on the back.

Authorities say Clemmons, 37, singled out the Lakewood officers and spared employees and other customers at a coffee shop Sunday morning in Parkland, a Tacoma suburb about 35 miles south of Seattle. He then fled, but not before he was apparently shot in the torso by one of the dying officers.

On Monday, officers detained a sister of Clemmons who they think treated the suspect’s gunshot wound.

“We believe she drove him up to Seattle and bandaged him up,” Troyer said.

Troyer didn’t immediately give the names of the three people arrested on suspicion of rendering criminal assistance. Police said a network of friends and family gave Clemmons place to stay, medical aid, rides and money while he was on the run.

Sergeant Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Greg Richards, 42, were ambushed at a cafe in Tacoma, south of Seattle, on Sunday. All were married with children.

One can only imagine the media outcry had the races been reversed–it must be perfectly acceptable for them to kill others and help hide murderers. Guess that explains the high percentage incarcerated.

I hope this shooting is above the board and by the numbers. I would hate to think that this was just a cold-blooded execution by the cops….

OK, “hate” is a strong word. Let’s just say I would find it disturbing if that were the case.

By “disturbing”, I actually mean it would be mildly disconcerting to me to think they just up and shot him.

And “disconcerting”, I suppose, implies that maybe it wouldn’t bother me all that much.

And by “wouldn’t bother me all that much”, I actually mean that I would be perfectly happy if they walked up behind him and shived him in the back, and then shot him in both kneecaps when he dropped to the ground.

By the numbers, though, of course…..

From The AP “Clemmons was charged in Washington state earlier this year with assaulting a police officer and raping a child, and investigators in the sex case said he was motivated by visions that he was Jesus Christ and that the world was on the verge of the apocalypse.

But he was released from jail after posting bail with the assistance of Jail Sucks Bail Bonds.

Documents related to those charges indicate a volatile personality. In one instance, he is accused of gathering his wife and young relatives and forcing them to undress.

“The whole time Clemmons kept saying things like trust him, the world is going to end soon, and that he was Jesus,” a Pierce County sheriff’s report said.” Just an FYI per AP…

” .. I was telling my co-worker yesterday, there is no way this guy’s coming in alive… the officers would “see him reaching for a gun” or something and kill him… this guy is a scumbag.. I just hope there’s an outside investigation to see if the police acted as judge, jury and executioner.”

I am more worried about the officer who shot him. Now he has to go through all the DA investigation, shooting board, probably a ‘civilian review board’ (stupid)

The immediate aftermath of an officer involved shooting really sucks for the officer, you have to hand over your weapon, they bag your hands for GSR and you are on ‘vacation’ from that moment with a standing appointment with a head shrinker- it sucks!!

So say a little prayer for the officer– Knowing Seattle the way I do, there is bound to be some libtard group that comes out accusing him of ‘executing’ a poor, oppressed black man.

The awe-inspiring part of the story to me was how Clemmons was taken down.

Here was a murderer–an assassin–who had shot and killed 4 armed officers, had had considerable help from a group of people, and was clearly able to kill again. Every other time Clemmons was thought to have been cornered, virtually every police officer in the immediate area along with SWAT was available to take this monster down.

And, at the end of the day, it was one officer–alone–who ended up facing Clemmons and shooting him. That office might have even been facing more than one person, since Clemmon’s accomplices might have been nearby. Yet this officer, all by himself, went after this animal and took him down.

    He did the SPD proud.

Clemmons had a gun he took off of one of the dead officers. I look forward to the trial of the many accomplices, and almost yelled this morning when his niece was interviewed on the radio and said: “Sure we feel sorry about what happened, but what about our feelings?”

Your feelings? How do you feel now that you are responsible for Clemmons death? One or more of you were told that he was going to kill cops, and did nothing about it… and then provided help to get away, instead of seeing that he was taken into custody, allowing him to live 20 more years appealing his innocence… The entire (involved) family is scum of the earth, and has no reason to exist in my eyes.

“what about our feelings?”…Duh! I am reminded about a black guy who raped a white woman in Detroit then put a shot gun in her vagina and pulled the trigger. When caught and sentenced he complained there would be no one to take care of his children! This was years ago but I still see this additude among black criminals when they are caught…what is with these people?????????????
Do they really think anything they do to whites is justified. Do they not have souls?

Alice L. wrote: “The State of Washington dropped the ball on this one. He was in custody and released on low bail. Don’t blame this one on Huckabee.”

Gotta agree on this one – - Huckabee’s being tossed out there by the liberal press as the whipping boy without getting all the facts out.

Not a huge Huckabee fan myself, but if he was following the recommendations of the parole board as has been stated, blame for this week’s actions by this scumball hardly fall solely at his feet.

Clemmons has been in and out of prison multiple times since then, if I recall correctly – - how come the people responsible for those releases, not to mention the judge who let a multiply-convicted felon accused of child rape make bail, are not being spotlighted by the press?

Possibly because there’s no political hay to be made there?

Seems to me that the fact that a creature with a record like his (five felony convictions, and eight felony charges outstanding including assault on a police officer and rape of a 12-year-old relative, per the Seattle Times) was allowed to make bail for a paltry $150k is a far, far greater travesty of justice than was the parole of a juvenile offender (16 at time of arrest) a decade ago.

Does argue strongly for the propriety of life sentences for some juvenile offenders, though, doesn’t it?

Huckleberry should stop using the passive, “Do I wish the commutation hadn’t happened? Of course, but…,” to the more responsible, “Do I wish I hadn’t commuted his sentence? Of course, I do.
