Senate democrats today approved of bribery and vote buying.

Democrats voted down the DeMint Amendment tonight 53-46. The amendment would have prohibited the practice of trading votes for pork and pet projects.
Jim DeMint reported:

Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement after the Senate defeated his amendment to prohibit the practice of trading votes for earmarks in the United States Senate. Senator DeMint’s motion was defeated on a 53-46 vote.

“The American people are disgusted by the earmarks, kickbacks, and backroom deals that have been used to buy votes for this health care takeover,” said Senator DeMint. “We had a chance today to put an end to this practice but Senate Democrats voted for business as usual. 53 Democrats just gave their personal seal of approval to the Louisiana Purchase, Cornhusker Kickback and other earmarks used to bribe senators into supporting this atrocious bill.”

“Democrats have truly hit the bottom on their reckless pursuit of a government takeover of health care. The Democrat majority just voted to retain the culture of corruption in Congress. Just two years ago, Democrats bragged about draining the swamp, but now they’re endorsing political bribery. This is Washington at its worst.”

Senator Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska), who secured a special earmark for his state that forces taxpayers in 49 states to fund Medicaid in Nebraska, first voted against the ban on trading earmarks for votes but switched his vote before the final tally. Senator DeMint responded, “Senator Nelson, unfortunately, is trying to have it both ways, he was for trading his vote for earmarks before he was against it.

And, the House that Pelosi built is no different– Rep. Bart Stupak (D., Mich.) tells NRO that he’s disappointed that Democratic leaders have offered him legislative favors in exchange for supporting Obamacare.

    I got this yesterday, I thought it was perfect;

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

    Congressional Reform Act of 2010

    1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

    A. Two Six year Senate terms
    B. Six Two year House terms
    C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    2. No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

    4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    6. Congress looses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

    8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11 .

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

The next administration will have a field day putting democrats in prison. All the evidence needed is in writing (by the same democrats) and on film.
I’m an old guy who spent a year killing people for around $6,000. Now the democrats are going to charge me $6,000 for the medical care I earned and was promised. Maybe another year of killing will save that $6,000. 50,000 retirees (who are going to get screwed by a no good POS who never served anyone but himself) can’t all be caught before they complete their mission. If I lived around any of the communist/democrat leaders I’d move out of the nighborhood, way out of it.

@Scrapiron- Very few even have the temerity to stand up to the corruption *now*. What makes you think they’ll take any action in 2010?

BTW, the Dems are acting as if 2010 won’t effect them, aren’t they?

This was posted @ GatewayPundit earlier today (same info/different source). Keep passing it on.

Asking the dems to vote to declare their own actions unconstitutional is like asking a group of rapists or drug dealers to declare their actions as criminal.

There must be a higher authority, and I don’t mean the five liberal members of the supreme court.

Pelosi and Reid are going to bypass reconciliation and come up with a bill on their own which they will present to Obama just before the State of the Union so he can have something to brag about. So lets see–we have a one party bill which will take up 1/6 of the economy, Dem Senators are getting huge payoffs for their votes and now there will be no Reconciliation. The Bill’s contents will be decided by the House Leader who called Tea Partiers Nazis and The Senate Leader who called us Evil Mongers. What could go wrong with that!

Some of the political ads for ‘10 and ‘12 are gonna’ be doozies. If you add up all the lies O Bomber has told, it would good for a dozen damaging ads.

If this is the “change we need now”, I don’t want to see any more of it. I’ve seen enough to last two lifetimes….and then a little more.

Disgusting bunch….And they made a terrible choice voting down Senator DeMint’s amendment. They’re going to hear their name called on the roll and their vote cast, in essence, to continue the Culture of Corruption.

I really believe the Dems will lose both Houses in 2010 because of this bill and others which raise our taxes during this Depression. But Washington is a cloistered atmosphere where you are allowed to believe your own publicity and Power is allowed to Corrupt Absolutely.

However, there will be multi-million dollar ads touting Obama and the Dems for passing this bill because they believe that we are too dumb to notice that these ads come from the same crooks who stole our Healthcare. Also, they are hoping to infiltrate The Tea Party and run third party candidates who say all the right things and then become Obama’s henchmen. If Americans are given a choice of a Strong Country, Individual Freedom and The American Dream would they vote this mob back in?

They are treating this like a standard appropriations bill where everyone gets the handout for their state. But this is a major policy bill. The Senate Democrats have abused the standard procedure for getting pork to take home and confused that with the consideration due for a national policy bill. Very immature, unintelligent, and irresponsible. Certainly unbecoming of the “world’s greatest deliberative body”.
