This was awful.
The evil Khamenei regime thugs are running over freedom protesters in trucks.
Iranian blogger Azarmehr also has video of the regime shooting at a massive group of freedom protesters.
Planet Iran has several more videos of Sunday’s freedom protests against the regime.
Founding Bloggers has more on the violence.

The regime is going to make the Iranian people so mad, they will resort to the bomb of choice in the Middle East….the ‘IED’.

Though usually “muslim killing muslim” doesn’t really interest me, maybe some of the arab countries in the area should try and condemn the killing of unarmed civilians.
Obama already choose sides in this conflict (he backs the mullahs) , so the US is basically in the sidelines for this conflict, someone else will have to take the “policeman” role.
The UN is a worthless organization and won’t intervene or condemn.

I have known a few Iranians that emigrated here to the US.
They were happy to get out when they did.
And lucky.
An internal revolution in Iran would be a good thing. I suspect it is coming.

Just sayin’.

I’m sure Obama would say ” let’s not to jump to conclusions”, while asking Janet Incompetano to scour DHS crowd control measures.

That video doesn’t look to show regime police shooting people. The puffs of smoke from weapons discharge went upwards, not in the direction of the crowd.
Unfortunately, even if they had, Tiannamen Square shows us that even the most despicable acts may be survivable for despicable regimes.

Thugs indeed.
If I may pick a nit: that “V” sign pic looks to be the British version, which in that orientation is their equivalent of our single-digit model. It certainly fits the expression on her face – and the situation.

gotta critique that last picture. if her hand is pointed at the iranian regime, she is holding up too many fingers. :-)
seriously, all i can say is that every sensible american is rooting for the iranian people tonight. sadly none of those people are in the white house, but fwiw…

The problem with our current administration’s response to this issue is that, even though Obama doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism ( that antiquated notion currently held only by those Americans who bitterly cling to their guns and religion, oh, and who shop at Walmart) a huge chunk of the rest of the world does. And they expect us to act accordingly. Even the countries whose leaders despise us do so in large part because they resent our footprint. He’s acting as if, if we just act small and insignificant we will suddenly be transformed into same and the smaller bullies won’t resent us so much, which is beyond idiotic. Why are we so busy trying to ingratiate ourselves to a bunch of tyrannical thugs? Maybe it’s just too nuanced for my small suburban-dwelling, walmart shopping, non-ivy league brain to understand. It’s certainly too nuanced for the aforementioned thugs to understand. Obama is really blowing this one baaaaaaaaad. Oh where is Reagan when you need him?

Jim,
I’m not so sure that is a victory sign. In some quarters two fingers in a V with the back of the hand turned out has an entirely different meaning.
I don’t know if this girl is aware of that since people don’t always know the difference.
On the other hand, maybe she knows perfectly well
:-)
Either way is just as good.

GP – Thanks for keeping a line open so more Americans can see what’s happening in Iran.
Shame that we do not hear our government promoting the rhetoric of freedom from tyranny as spoken by our own Founding Fathers. Incredibly though, it is the Iranian People who speak their words to rally their spirits and resolve.

Hoping someone in the White House cares is pointless, as only the wait staff is in the White House. Whether or not they care doesn’t matter. Perhaps another Muslim country could suggest that Muslims shouldn’t kill Muslims this way, but that isn’t going to happen. Maybe President Obama could invite everybody to the White House for a non-alcoholic beer summit, and discuss what is alledgedly happening to whom. Do those protesters have any idea of the damage they could cause to government equipment by not getting out of the way quickly enough? May the people who carve peace and justice be strong.

Only one way to fight this tactic when no firearms available to shoot at them. Glass bottles and flammable liquids. Hit the vehicle with 4 or 5 bottles with NO WICKS to cover it with flammable liquid, then throw the lit one, engulfing it in flames, sucking out the oxygen in the cab.
If someone can translate this in Farsi and pass it along to Iranians please do it. These folks need to know they they want to kill opponents. If someone jumps out of the vehicle hit them with a lit bottle.
They use fear, pain and death as weapons against you. Use it back and show no mercy. Most of these thugs are cowards and will stop using this tactic if it means they can die using it.
Gasoline and Styrofoam or Vaseline mixed to a jell can be used in the unlit bottles, it sticks like glue.
Good luck, these people need it. Freedom isn’t free, fight for it!

Notice the number of women on the streets protesting. That is a sign of things slipping away from the mullahs. Every soldier in the army has a mom and loves her. He isn’t going to fire on somebody else’s mom or stand by as she is run over.
During the French Revolution many women took the opportunity to revolt and make demands. It helped tip the scales. Now in that case, things got out of control and stayed that way for a long time. Hopefully, the Iranians, far better educated and not starving, will make the transition with less random violence. Although I would not give a plugged nickel for the lives of their black hooded special police. They’d better be packing and heading for someplace like Somalia or Yemen.
On a side note, if the Iranians do win their freedom will BO take credit or will anyone give Bush credit for his geo-political move to invade both Afghanistan and Iraq, thus pinching the regime between two examples of a people trying to win their freedom.
Hmmm.. Just thinking out loud.

Hopefully some of the protesters can access video like this – you can learn a lot from video reviews. For instance, this video might suggest the usefulness of kitchen knives taped securely to broom handles to puncture tires when folk try this again. Afterwards they might prove useful once the driver has been pulled out of the truck. A similar implement might help convince Basij militiamen to get off their motor bikes.

To: any readers from Iran.
I have been watching this unfold since the stolen elections (despite the efforts of the Iranian leadership to suppress your thoughts and on line access).
Thank you for your courage. May God bless you in your struggle. In spite of the obvious fact that our president does not have the backbone to say strong words in support of you, the citizens, many, many Americans are aware of what is going on in Iran and we stand behind you in spirit.
