Jim Hoft

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
Luke 2: 8-14

Merry Christmas–

The Anchoress posted this wonderful video of Aled Jones as a child and an adult singing “O Holy Night.’
It is terrific.
I hope you all have a blessed Christmas.

Beto left a wonderful holiday poem in the comments.

Iraqi Christians arrive at the Syriac Tahira Church or the Church of the Immaculate Virgin to take part in the Christmas Eve service in Karaqosh, 40 kilometers from the restive city of Mosul. (AFP)

    Jim:

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

God bless you for keeping our nation’s heart in the forefront.

To all GP viewers…… Merry Christmas to you and yours as well….. and thank you for standing on the wall with the one and only line ever to be drawn – not in sand, but in a forever-unbreakable bond of freedom and liberty for all.

Cheers from a typical bitter Jewish God-clinging gun owner and barking-mad insane NASCAR fan.

    Merry Christmas Jim.

    Eternal Green

    A Christmas Eve
    Long past and gone
    The Yuletide Carol
    Of a heart gone wrong

    We voyeur here
    Old Scrooge and young
    The Spirits Three
    And the wisdom wrung

    As it unfolds
    The Carol play
    I shed a tear
    For the heart once gay

    Then as the nails
    Of life drive in
    And hang the heart
    We see all man’s sin

    Dear Mister Scrooge
    For you a prayer
    Your broken heart
    Be it mended here

    Though stranded be
    On rocky shoal
    God’s lifeboat sent
    Here to save us all

    So sing with Joy
    And raise the strain
    Light trees of love
    And redeem our pain

    That we like Scrooge
    May all walk free
    Accept God’s gift
    Of Eternal Green

Merry Christmas, Jim, my No. 1 “Go-to Guy”! Thank you so much for all you do. May God richly bless you.

And merry Christmas to all my fellow GP posters and readers. Thanks to all of you, I get daily affirmation that “I’m not crazy” and “It’s not just me” and “I’m not the only one who sees what’s going on!”

May God bless all of you and all those you love this Christmas and throughout the year to come. Let’s celebrate: He really does have the whole world in His hands.

And let us all commit, in the coming year, to pray for the unity of Christians; the building of the Culture of Life; and the conversion of the Muslims. I call ‘em the Big Three–and they’re all connected. If God the maker of all and Lord of the Universe can become a tiny, vulnerable human baby, HE CAN DO ANYTHING!

I wish you a very Merry Christmas, Jim! Thank you for all your efforts this past year in keeping us informed. I got involved because of many of your articles. I am now a facilitator for Rally Right.org and people need to get involved for the May election at the local level to really change things. Run for precinct committee person and help us change things. Also check out Freedom Force.com and they are trying to get people to run also. We can make a difference if we get educated to the process. Please help us out and get involved with this for the May election.

Jim, Merry Christmas to you and yours!! May God bless your efforts for many years to come. To the Gateway Punditeers….you have made lurking a pleasure and keep the Founders’ dreams alive! My, do I love TEA!

BG, my 14 year-old Christian, homeschooled Eagle Scout candidate wants to move to Texas. He says that any State that talks about seceding in order to escape the anti-Americans running rampant through our public schools, judiciary and bureaucracy sounds a bit like heaven-on-earth. I love you, too. Thanx for bein’ there.

Just sittin’ here, singin’ “Happy Birthday” to the baby Jesus.

Thank you God, for your gifts, your answered prayers, for the brave troops protecting this great land, and for the missionaries, who also risk their lives, in order to share your grace with those who don’t yet know you.

I found this, which seems to say it well:

    To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

    To My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
