Nobel Peace Prize winner and Solidarity co-founder Lech Walesa spoke in Chicago today at a tea party rally and campaign stop for conservative Adam Andrzejewski.

FOX News Chicago video

ABC7 has more on the rally today in Chicago:

A Polish politician who spearheaded the movement that led to the fall of communism in Poland is taking a stand in Illinois politics.

Lech Walesa, the former polish president, is endorsing Polish-American Adam Andrzejewski in the Republican race for governor.

Walesa an iconic figure of Poland’s rise from communism but today Lech Walesa is hoping to give Adam Andrzejewski a lift in the race for governor. he two men joined together for an event at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Walesa says his endorsement is about more than merely sharing Polish heritage. He believes the Hinsdale businessman would bring a new honest approach to Illinois government.

“Because he has no baggage. He is open. He can put things in order. Clean house,” said Walesa.

The former Polish president is well aware of the stain of corruption in Illinois politics. He joked, tongue-in-cheek, that he won’t need to visit his chosen candidate in prison.

“He doesn’t depend on anyone and this is his greatness,” said Walesa.

“We’re gonna defend the taxpayers of Illinois. We’re gonna bring good governance to Springfield. This is a new era of governance that we can work on together,” said Andrzejewski.

Andrew Marcus from Founding Bloggers and Big Government was at the Adam Andrzejewski fundraiser this morning before the tea party rally and sent this photo.

UPDATE: Founding Bloggers has photos up from the events today.

This was on the federal plaza. I was right across the street in the court house. I heard them yelling but I didn’t know what it was about. Wow there were only 50 people there. I wish I knew. I could have met Lech Walesa!

Wish that I could have been there! Thank YOU to Nobel Peace Prize winner and Solidarity co-founder Lech Walesa for coming here.
Adam is the ONLY one that will stand up to the coruption of Illinois and help us be a state of pride and honor again.
Adam is the man for this State and I would go the gamut of support for him. He will step up to face the Chicago Machine, Mayor Daily. Madigan and all that have put Illinois into the corrupt state it is.
NO one running will do it as THEY HAVE been in office for x number of years!
Without STEPPING up and taking on those who are the problems.
Some ’sound PURE’ but they are not once you educate on what they have done in their past. We have ‘traitors to the party’ and Rino’s for sure!
I will talk ‘nothing negative about anyone’ specific and I could yet I will shout it to the state and we will see a Miracle in Illinois with Adam as the Governor. Adam will be the man that would bring honor and pride back to Illinois.

I’m sure people like Lech Walesa, who risked their lives to throw off the chains of communism in Eastern Europe, do not want to see the U.S. enslaved as they were. It is heartening to see that Walesa has come to help a friend and a nation in need.

We are going to proudly cast a vote for a solid, decent candidate to be our Gov! Haven’t been this pleased with an Illinois politician in years, prayers have been answered!

28 years ago last month Ronald Reagan gave a nationally televised address declaring American support for the Solidarity Movement to free the Polish people from an oppressive totalitarian regime.

Now, Lech Walesa, the leader of that movement, comes to America to fight for the freedom loving, small government candidate that best embodies the ideals Lech fought for nearly 30 years ago.

But the candidate he supports is not the front runner. How sad our country has gone so far left since Reagan.

Lech Walesa is one person who deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, unlike some others who have won it over the last 30 years.

He is also one man who has lived under a Marxist totalitarian regime and fought for freedom and understands what is at stake here.

    Scott,

How sad our country has gone so far left since Reagan.

The country has not gone “left”, our government has. Why? Quite frankly it is because we have an electorate who cares more about who which bimbo “The Bachelor” is going to pick then to learn about the candidates and people who hold elected office. We also have an electorate who will make danged sure they will vote for their favorite couple on “Dancing with the Stars” then to go and vote in an election. The vast majority of our newspapers and media is little more them the propaganda wing for the Maoist totalitarians who are so close to achieving their goals, too. They, through their propaganda both subtle and gross helped to zombify a great many people in this country.

But take heart. All that is beginning to change. it is not the “change” that Obamao and his merry band of Maoists were hoping for and that is a very good thing indeed. The sleeping giant is awakening.

Lech Walesa is a great man who did great deeds in Poland. He knows next to nothing about politics in Illinois, and has no business making endorsements here. Andrzejewski is a good guy, but he is a vanity candidate with no political experience, no program other than conservative generalities, and very limited knowledge of Illinois state affairs, i.e. how the tax system is structured, where the big budget problems are, who appoints who and what authority they have. A Democrat like Quinn or even Hynes would take him to bits in a debate.

The object of conservatives in the primary has to be to keep the nomination away from the candidate of the Party insiders (the Republican half of the notorious Combine); that is, Andy McKenna. Andrzejewski has no chance of beating McKenna; all he will do is split the anti-McKenna vote. IMHO Kirk Dillard has the best chance of defeating McKenna.

(Yes, Dillard said some foolish things about Obama during the 2008 Democrat primaries. He campaigned for McCain in November, like any good Republican. He gets top marks from the NRA and Right to Life; he’s not a squish.)

Hey Rich Rostrom, Lech Walesa, a Nobel Prize winner, the founding father of a real freedom movement has no business being here but, we should elect another corrupt panty waste, penitentiary bound punk like McKenna to office? Aren’t two prosecuted officials enough for you?
The problem with Illinois is not the politicians but, it’s the people. You’re proof positive that the people deserve the government they elect. Quinn is a stuttering eunuch who is clueless of the mechanics of government yet, you argue he’ll beat Adam in a debate? Its symbolism over substance for you isn’t it.
The crap hole that brought you the likes Durbin, obama, daley, blago, walker and a whole host of bottom-feeding degenerates, masquerading as leaders. Yet the hapless ignorant wonders of the “great state” of Illinois still cannot discern leaders from leaches. If Illinois doesn’t seize this moment and elect a true leader, it will be another generation (if any) before we can come close to regaining a civilized society. Illinois, you don’t hold a candle to Massachusetts if you miss this opportunity to throw all the incumbent garbage out … including MsKenna. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Members of the Chicago Tea Patriots could not have been more proud to have endorsed Adam Andrzejewski and hosted Solidarity Leader, Polish President, Freedom Fighter, Nobel Peace Prize winner Lech Walesa.

It was 20+ years ago when I stood on a cold winter day blocks away, at the Daley Center, to hear the man who was friends with the Pope, the electrian, Lech Walesa speak.

Tears streamed down my face as the coordinator of the Chicago Tea Party knowing that he came back to defend what was once an unknown commodity to him and his fellow patriots in Poland.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THIS GREAT DAY!
