Obama says Americans have a right to feel inflated.
After nearly destroying the US economy, tripling the national deficit, almost doubling unemployment, lying about openness, pushing radical legislation and constantly bashing his predecessor… Barack Obama told People Magazine that he will focus on uniting the country around common values this coming year.
Puh-leeze.

Barack Obama managed to triple the US deficit in 2009, an achievement most thought impossible.
Now he says he wants to bring the country together.
The AP reported:

President Barack Obama says he has not succeeded in bringing the country together, acknowledging an atmosphere of divisiveness that has washed away the lofty national feeling surrounding his inauguration a year ago.

“That’s what’s been lost this year … that whole sense of changing how Washington works,” Obama said in an interview with People magazine.

The president said his second-year agenda will be refocused on uniting the country around common values, “whether we’re Democrats or Republicans.”

…The president’s comments came as Republican leaders rallied against the core items of his agenda, from his economic stimulus plan to health care. The mood of the country has remained in a sustained slump, too, as double-digit unemployment followed a campaign built upon “hope” and “change.”

Obama said people have “every right to feel deflated, because the economy was far worse than any of us expected.” But he insisted that his government’s economic steps in 2009 are paying off and that people should have confidence in this new year.

So when the president says “common values” is this some code word for socialism, too?

Common values in Chairman-speak refers to the values that HE emphasizes as “common” like– transparency; bi-partisanship; non-race baiting rhetoric; expiration dates; and non-exceptionalism. If you have these “virtues/characteristics” then what he says should make perfect sense to you. If not, then it’s just another day in President Pantywaist’s World…

Too much reality for you or is this the extent of your lexicon? Clinton moderated his position when he saw the country disapprove of his direction. Obama will not. So, he ignores his masters at his own peril.

    Whose fault is it?

Obama entered office during an economic downturn, and instead of trying to stabilize the economy, he embarked on a huge spending spree, bailing out banks, car companies, and instituting a “stimulus” program.

The stimulus, nearly a trillion $, was handed out to states who in turn used the funds to pay old debts. No jobs were created.

If we going to blame people we must start at the top with El Presidente. Democrat leaders in the house and senate actually wanted to spend more. And the media blah-blahed and yap-yapped about shovel ready jobs that were never created.

So now the same cabal tells us that “it worked” and we’re going to “do it again.” Obama is throwing gas on a fire, a fire that HE started.

Clinton did away with welfare, didn’t he? Saved us a TON, didn’t it? Yeah! Well, I got news for you. My friend manages Section 8 homes. He has one with a ’single African American mom,’ poor thing, who has FOUR children all by different fathers. For this, she gets MONTHLY from the government, $1600 in housing allowance, $600 food stipulation, and $600 utility allowance. $2800 a month free. She drives a late model black Chevy Suburban. Obama’s truly a remarkable leader and CEO of our great nation. His continued blame of his predecessor, a year into the job (and from the position of being a Senator who provided the former CEO with policies from a Democratic Congress) is astounding, “Because the economy was far worse than any of us expected” and other deferrals are simply incredible.

I recall that when Michael Capellas was hired at MCI Worldcom to clean up the disaster from Bernie Ebbers corrupt accounting scheme, he went around for well after a year saying: “Crap, there’s nothing I can do as CEO. Ebbers left me with a bigger mess. It’s not my fault, it’s Ebbers. For the next 8 years of my reign as CEO, I’ll be lucky to save or create an off-balance sheet special entity. Don’t blame me, shareholders and board, because it’s all Ebbers fault.”

Oh wait. He didn’t blame Ebbers. Nor does any competent executive. None. You were hired because the other guy left, and if he was fired, you know his mess is now 100% yours. You own it because you sought the job. Blame your predecessor past the first week on the job and find yourself tossed out on the street.

Obama would have been fired in month three at any Fortune 500 firm. That he’s using off-balance sheet accounting to “create or save” jobs and ponzi accounting to enrich his special interests would get him both fired and jailed for the rest of his workable life.

There will be no improvement in jobs as long as we have to wait and see whether “health care” and “cap-n-trade” will pass.

it’s as simple as that. Businesses will not hire until they find out what is going to happen.

As Karen notes above, Obama is not even going to address those concerns, any more than the “stimulus” did. By the way, how much of that money has actually been spent?

The entire federal government establishment is a loser for the average American. Until they facilitate productive jobs and resume energy production the economy will be slow. And that won’t happen with this bunch in control.

    RobertNo Gravatar
    January 13th, 2010 | 10:23 am | #33

And another related and untold story is the ongoing shell game being played between Treasury and the Federal Reserve. These guys are using our tax money to perpetuate the ponzi scheme of entitlements favored by our political class, with massive side benefits to fat cats on Wall Street.

“Common values” is code for “Communist Values”

Obama was not in America for his childhood, and has spent his entire life in a far-left environment. I doubt he has ever been to a small-town parade, a state fair, or gone fishing. There is NO WAY he can have any connection with American values. He has not internalized what it is to be an American.

One thing is sure. The federal government has become anti-American. We have public employees who make more than the private sector AND get a huge benefits /retirement package. But that is not enough for them. They must have a union that advocates for yet more taxpayer funding, while putting in place institutions to perpetuate and worsen our current predicament. Who is a union advocating against?

The public. The federal government is becoming adversarial to the public they are supposed to serve. And state and local governments are doing the same thing, becoming huge power bases that exist to provide for themselves.

Top that off with politicans who can’t say no to anybody but hard-working folks, and deficits at all levles, we have a completely irresponsible political/bureaucratic class of parasites who can only take ever-increasing amounts from an ever-shrinking pool of producing citizens, while simultaneously making it ever harder for those harried taxpayers to produce.

Yep, #34, willie the fifth. I’ve been feeling deflated since the presidential election. I don’t think I can be any more deflated, and then something happens that surpasses what I think is the worst of the worst.

But, I have been feeling a surge of energy the last few months, ever since I stood under the Arch at the first tea party. Eventually, we will regain the momentum, perhaps we are starting that shift now, and we can negate his and Congress’ power grab.

The Dems seem very edgy right now, pushing a reporter in the Coakley incident does not bode well for their version of transparency. I sense frustration in their camp. My goodness, what a difference a year can make.

Just watch the 2 interviews done by Bill Whittle on PJTV. Bill questions an anonymous FBI agent on the current Islamic infiltration of our government counter-terrorism agencies-DHS, FBI. CIA—Since obama took office, those agencies are INVITING the Muslim Brotherhood into their counter-terrorism sessions to see if they and the Muslim community approve of the techniques being used. Can anyone spell mass suicide???
Whose idea was it to ask a Muslim terror organization to be in on everything we are doing to fight terror. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????? This is the work of Islam-taqiyyah. Aided a betted by the PC insnaity of obama, the Muslims are honey coating themselves with lies so that can they worm their way into our government. And why not? obama’s job is to protect Muslims don’t you know!!

And did anyone notice the way Brennan pronounced Islam? ISS-LOM with the accent on the last syllable? He is one of them!!! Even to the point of making sure he says the name correctly. This is big treason by obama, people, VERY BIG!!

Which “lofty national feeling surrounding his inauguration” is Obama talking about? I don’t remember feeling ANYTHING that I would consider calling lofty. In fact, all I’ve felt since he arrived on the scene is fear, and more frequently, anger. This man is delusional. That “lofty” thing is all in his head. Here’s a news flash for him … just because you say it’s so doesn’t make it so. I’m sure that among his faithful government loving bottom feeders, there was quite a bit of excitement … much like the excitement you see when a farmer slops the trough. Obama wants a civilian military force as “well-funded as the US military.” Where’s our trillions? Evidently in Obama’s boot camps, ’cause it’s not evident anywhere visible and the administration assures us hundreds of thousands of “jobs have been created.”
We should be asking, “Describe the jobs, EXACTLY.”

Obama’s living very well now, eating, partying better than kings of the great empires. He’s not behaving as a steward of the nation’s wealth, but as someone who has long been jealous or bitter of it. Odd behavior from someone who’s never known poverty or hard work.

So called stimulus plan was blatant stealing from working people and businesses for union payoffs to the UAW and supporting failed states like California who can’t manage their own affairs…Obama-mao is really the union boss in chief where he excels at stealing from others to pay-off his constituents…As well, he is an unrepentant Communist who has the gall to display chairman Mao on his Christmas treel no-less…How ironic because communist are atheist…And, Mao happened to have killed around 77 million of his own people in the red revolution. Now you know why communists are known as red. Its the blood….

Democrats are the new Royalists…They steal from working people to enrich themselves and pay-off their supporters…They are not so different from the Kings of old, and we are not so different from the serfs of old…

Obama has turned the political climate into one that is downright mean – He has sponsored “Political segregation”, has removed all restraint on spending, downgraded our national security, Coddled terrorists, and turned his back on Israel. His conduct of the economy is laughable and there is nothing to cause anyone in business to be confident about the future. On energy, the record is every bit as shameful as he continues to sell out America’s heartland and keep the loopy climate change stuff and green jobs as our salvation. No concept of all the hard work necessary to develop new technology. Lastly, has flushed the unborn and elderly down the crapper with the radical healthcare take over. It was suggested that he was not ready to be president; the record speaks for itself

U.S. Gun Ban as supported by Hillary Clinton

[The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns. The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms. Working groups of anti-gun countries will begin scripting language for the conference this year, creating a blueprint for other countries when they meet at the full conference.]
