Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow said he is standing up for what he believes in a Super Bowl ad featuring him and his mother. The ad has drawn criticism from radical women’s groups because it is likely to convey an anti-abortion message.

Tim Tebow was born on August 14, 1987 in the Philippines to Bob and Pam Tebow, who were serving as Christian missionaries at the time. While pregnant Pam suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life. She carried Timothy to term, and both survived.

Sarah Palin clobbered NOW this week over their double standard on women’s rights issues. NOW opposes the Tim Tebow ad that will air during the Super Bowl in February.
From her Facebook Page:

Women’s Rights groups, like NOW, commendably call out advertisers and networks for airing sexist and demeaning portrayals of women that lead to young women’s diminished self-esteem and acceptance of roles as mere sexed-up objects.

What a ridiculous situation they’re getting themselves into now with their protest of CBS airing a pro-life ad during the upcoming Super Bowl game. The ad will feature Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mom, and they’ll speak to the sanctity of life and the beautiful potential within every innocent child as Mrs. Tebow acknowledges her choice to give Tim life, despite less than ideal circumstances. Messages like this empower women! This speaks to the strength and commitment and nurturing spirit within women. The message says everything positive and nothing negative about the power of women – and life. Evidently, some women’s rights groups like NOW do not like that message.

NOW is looking at the pro-life issue backwards. Women should be reminded that they are strong enough and smart enough to make decisions that allow for career and educational opportunities while still giving their babies a chance at life. In my own home, my daughter Bristol has also been challenged by pro-abortion “women’s rights” groups who don’t agree with her decision to have her baby, nor do they like the abstinence message which she articulated as her personal commitment. NOW could gain ground and credibility with everyday Americans, thus allowing their pro-women message to be heard by more than just their ardent supporters, if they made wiser decisions regarding which battles to pick.

What a powerful commercial this would be. The most powerful witness is when you meet or know about someone who came close to be being aborted. I have personally worked on a retreat where one of the youths mentioned their mother came close to aborting him. He was the most outgoing person on the retreat. When he metioned this, there was not a dry eye amongst anyone in the room. VERY POWERFUL indeed!

Her words are clearly heartfelt. We know that she lives by them. She also expresses herself in a forthright, positive way that will resonate with all but the most diehard pro-abortionists.

Maybe it’s wrong to view her current statement through the prism of politics, but it does show why Sarah Palin is such a dynamic political force. Her persona and politics are seemlessly integrated, which gives her message power and clarity while her enemies conceal and equivocate. Not only does it make them look cheap and petty by comparison, it makes them feel cheap and petty, too. And that makes them angry.

This would be the same womens advocacy group that was silent when Letterman wanted a fourteen year old girl “knocked up”? That was silent when a celebrity called a former female Vice Presidential candidate a “bitch” in Spanish? That remained silent when an effigy of the same candidate was hung from a Hollywood home? We have come to a time where a Christian is reviled for standing up for their belief and a Muslim who murders 14 soldiers in cold blood is forgiven because he was a Muslim.

I know of a young man who was bron of and underage mother considering abortion. He is now a doctor. I myself was in this position and I am a former military intelligence operator and now an engineer on visulazation products in the surgical suite of hospitals. Naaaaa, its just an unviable tissue mass.

As pointed out above – and in millions of similar cases – NOW talks out of both sides of their mouths at the same time!

I give great credit to CBS for having the nads to air this ad…and others like it….No matter which side of the issue the ads come down on.

NOW wants the world to know about all of the “good work” they’re doing. Isn’t it about time we hear about the wonderful human beings they’ve failed to kill???

Last January NBC rejected a “pro life Super Bowl ad” where the child not aborted grew up to be president Obama. Check it out on youtube. CBS would have likely rejected the Tebow ad if their ads were selling better this year. They’ll put aside their liberal agenda for the money..

Has anyone else noticed the difference in Sarah Palin when she writes compared to when she is giving an interview?

In her writing she lets go and we get to see, I think anyway, what she really thinks. In interviews she seems so reserved and in a way timid that she comes off as less passionate and dare I say, intelligent than she is.

She needs to figure out a way to get the writing Sarah out front when she is speaking. This may be difficult because writing is such a deliberative act while speaking is more immediate.

The “National Organization of Women” is Pro Abortion plain and simple. Anytime a baby is not aborted they shed a tear. This is another example of them protesting anything that might reduce the number of abortions. Since they don’t want to reduce abortions it follows that they are Pro Abortion.

    God help us…

Sarah, I totally agree with you; you make a great statement. However, as far as NOW is concerned, your message will fall on deaf ears as NOW is NOT pro-women, it is pro its own pro-abortion agenda.

    Tom Usher,

Lots of folks are more articulate on paper. One benefit of Palin’s deal with Fox is that she’ll hone her onscreen skills. Remember that in the last election, the other three national candidates had been on camera nearly nonstop for years. By contrast she was an amateur.

    Jerseygma,

Her statement was addressed to NOW but it was meant for the rest of us.

Basically, the Femtard “mentality” is anyone who is pro-life should have been aborted, or at least been silenced in some other way. Just a little too much to take that a child that could have been killed grows up to be a Heisman candidate. Perfect example of the liberal position on free speech. Look, this is a democracy, Planned parenthood can buy super bowl adds promoting their death chambers.

    Tom #10:
Yes, I have also noticed how great she is with her Facebook posts.
I think part of it is that she has had little opportunity to get into these issues. I hope Fox will allow her that time. So far, most of their time with her has been talking about her own personal problems with the press, etc. It’s time for them to move past that and let her discuss the issues.

    NOW is pathetic.

In Washington last Friday, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the women of Silent No More were giving their testimonies in front of the Supreme Court. These are women who had abortions, and suffered years of depression, torment, self-destructive behavior, despair and suicidal urges as a result. They eventually found forgiveness through Jesus Christ, but still felt tremendous pain, grief and regret. Their full healing and freedom and peace came when they encountered other post-abortive women in support groups such as Rachel’s Vineyard.

For three hours, these brave women, one after another, told their stories with great emotion. Each of them explained her passion to be “silent no more!” about what abortion had done to them.

Meanwhile, about a dozen women from NOW stood off to the side with grim countenances, refusing to listen to the Silent No More women. When I cordially invited one of them to please come closer so she could hear what was being said (for unfortunately, the sound system was quite small, and you had to get close to hear), she emphatically and stubbornly refused. She wanted to keep her closed mind very tightly closed indeed.

I felt sorry for her, knowing that she’d probably had an abortion herself, and was dealing with it in numbing, soul-killing ways. I remembered the Gospel passage about how those who love the darkness run fleeing from the light.

I notice that the NOW group does not honor the *choice* Mrs. Tebow and her husband made to carry their baby to term. I thought the whole message from them was about being “pro-choice.” They have outed themselves yet again as being in reality pro-abortion = pro-death.

How about villifying the Under weight, drug addled, surgically enhanced, phony women we call “POP STARS and SUPER MODELS” that feed our young women and children a constant stream of ridiculous, unattainable body image. Thanks for the suicide rate amoung teenage girls. If you can’t kill them in utero, feed them so much crap that an already difficult confusing time of life becomes untennable. Tim Tebow’s mother did the one thing that this whole discussion should be about: she made a choice. That’s what it’s all about.

    The right to chose.

Both sides are against it. Both sides believe their opinion is the only valid one.

NOW is not in for women’s rights. NOW only wants their ideas to be the rule of thumb to which every woman has to obey. But neither is the religious motivated group. Rights, folks, include the right of choice.

Remember last year when pro abortion groups went after VA Gov.Tim Kaine after he approved a specialty license plate that displayed the message, ‘Choose Life?’
The DC hdqts. of NARL/Planned Parenthood launched into action, inundating his office with emails/phone calls arguing that the license plate option displayed a “derisive political ideology at the expense of a woman’s health.” Now, the same pro abortion groups target CBS and their SBwl airing of the Tebow’s “Choose Life” message.
The message isn’t “Stop Abortion” or ” Risk A Woman’s Health” as it wasn’t in the license plate rant over “Choose Life.” How is “Choose Life” a derisive political ideology? Carrying life successfully into being is an ideology?? Nothing exposes these pro abortion groups’ radical despotism in pursuing abortion better than attacking the simple message of choosing life.

I haved a good friend who’s mom is the product of a rape. That friend has 6 beautiful siblings and the family is such a loving and inclusive group. One bad moment has been dissolved by a bounty of love and warmth.

That’s a story of choice that seems to be so quickly dismissed, like an “unwanted” child, by women’s groups. We all know the answer why, well, thinking people understand the reason why. Women’s “pro-choice” groups must have to go through some sort of cultish lobotomy to prevent them from seeing their hypocracy.

Finn, “tard” is a derisive term. It marginalizes the people that 90% of society thinks NOTHING about aborting. The term “tard” feeds the stereotype that mortifies new mothers into thinking that the child they are carrying with Down syndrome must be so socially unacceptable that death is better than life for them. I’m here to attest to the fact that that is 100% FALSE.

    “libtard”
    “femtard”
“insert group you want to denigrate-tard”

It’s not just you, it’s all over the internet and it is a most lame and frankly, inaccurately chosen term. If someone actually is developmentally delayed they can’t help the way they are. Are you willing to give liberal women’s groups a free pass by saying “it’s not their fault” they think this way? No, these are all intelligent people who ought to know better. Quite giving them a crutch. And don’t use the “tard” crutch yourself. I’m willing to bet your are smart and are endowed with a lovely vocabulary that could come up with so much better.

Sorry for the rant, but, in the words of Tim Tebow: “I’m just going to stand up for what I believe in.”

How unreasonable and ironic it is to consider that NOW pro-death-to-unborn babies members advocate being pro-choice, when in reality, they are anti-the-choice-to-choose life?

What did THEIR mothers do when THEY were in the womb? They chose life for THEM!

    ‘Bout time somebody said that.
