80% of Stimulus Dollars For Wind Power Goes to Foreign Companies- Including China.

US workers may be laid off but a Chinese company is helping build a massive wind farm in west Texas. The firm will receive $450 million in Stimulus cash. The project will save or create 300 jobs in Texas and 2,000 manufacturing jobs in China.
That sounds like a good use of taxpayer dollars, huh?

Jon Karl from ABC News found that most green jobs created by the stimulus are created in China.

ABC(?) reported this news today:

Despite all the talk of green jobs, the overwhelming majority of stimulus money spent on wind power has gone to foreign companies, according to a new report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop at the American University’s School of Communication in Washington, D.C.

Nearly $2 billion in money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been spent on wind power, funding the creation of enough new wind farms to power 2.4 million homes over the past year. But the study found that nearly 80 percent of that money has gone to foreign manufacturers of wind turbines.

What a horrible piece of journalism. ABC News grimly reports that stimulus money spent on clean/green energy has resulted in — horrors! — hundreds of Chinese workers employed building wind turbines for export to the U.S. Unsurprisingly, economic dunce Sen. Chuck Schumer figures prominently. In the entire segment, however, journalist Jon Karl amazingly never asks the obvious question of why the turbines are manufactured in China instead of the U.S.

The answer, of course, is that building them in China is cheaper. While ABC News seems to think it is a scandal that taxpayer money is going to support Chinese jobs, as a taxpayer I would be outraged if the funding was set aside for more expensive U.S. production, which would require even more of my dollars to acquire the same number of turbines.

In fact, the story only makes sense if the actual purpose of the stimulus money is to distribute money to U.S. workers, rather than actually purchase useful things the government requires. If that’s the case, then let’s dispense with pretensions, redistribute some wealth, and just start sending U.S. government checks at random to various workers.

What!? You expected that tax money from American taxpayers – supposedly to be used to stimulate the American economy and provide American jobs (to fight the “great recession, you know) – would *actually* be used the way it was advertised by the d’ohbama regime?

But look at the bright side, when the wind farm is up and running it will produce about 0.00000001% of the electricity Texas uses.

The TX businessman running for Governor, SHAMI, brought his company to TEXAS out of China because China’s performance standards failed and cost more to fix than producing manufactured goods in Texas with reliable quality control. Shami’s platform is to govern Texas as a CEO, and he backs his goals with his own financial guarantee should the state not recoup under his leadership.

His “White” Democrat competitor is a career politician mouthing the same old mantras for votes, “We must stop our state’s high drop-out rate by demanding success from our teachers.” FAILED TO SAY “HOW”. All the good intentions of “compassionate” George W. Bush only amounted to more failure at a higher economic and social cost via “NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND” legislation. And what career socialist politician hoping to govern Texas isn’t rooting for more ignorant peon Dhimmiwits to own and manipulate?

The Democrat Party’s Texas Governor candidate debate was RACIST exuding White Supremacy in the manner that the hosts addressed Shami vs. White.

I’ve been saying from the get-go that this administration is all about killing off the middle class. I sure hope all those who voted for this fraud have woken up because it’s coming true in front of our eyes.

This criminal is taking TAXPAYER monies and handing it over to China to build wind farm in Texas. What’s wrong with this picture? EVERYTHING.

Gotta luve the green jobs porkulus boondoggle.

In China they can also use one of 50 million prisoners as almost free labor. If a worker speaks of a job hazard at his employer in China, he can go to jail for 10 years.

China also has no emission standards at steel mills.

This country is being run by a bunch of buffoons. Is there some sort of brainwashing/ labotomy/ sell your soul to the devil/ initiation that people go through to become democrats?? How hard is it to make a list of investments/products that are actually benefitial to this country and fund them HERE??

I don’t really care if the labour is cheeper in China – we need jobs here and we might need to pay a few more dollars for products made here to keep those jobs and revenue HERE. Once we make a point as a country to support Made In America (by Americans) we will hone production and methods, healthy competition will insue and we’ll be on track.

Anyone see the article yesterday about the $50 million we shelled out for a piece of property in the caribbean, that no one can afford to travel to, so that it can be protected as a wildlife preserve?

    Idiots!

The light metals needed in the windmills are mainly mined in China and they aren’t interested in exporting them. This gives them a worldwide monopoly on the most efficient windmills.

@colin It’s not a wind power bill or even an alternative energy spending bill, it was a STIMULUS bill that’s supposed to help the US economy and jobs. Sending the money overseas does not accomplish that, regardless you’re ulterior motives.
