It figures. Michelle Obama stocked the White House Library with books on socialism.

Rob Port visited the White House today and took this picture in the library. (The American Socialist Movement and The Socialist Party of America)

    When Karl Marx was 18 years-old, some biographies intend he shortly joined a Satanic Church — and while he left it and later became a scholar, he adopted the materialistic- anti- spirit teachings of Satanism — which biographers intend is why he used such caustic and hatred rhetoric in his writings against spiritualism and religion.

    ref. the Satanist Church run by Joana Southcott!
    “His early writings mentioned the name “Oulanem,” which was a ritualistic name for Satan.”

    Ironically

    At the end of his life , he admitted that Communism, his version was indeed in need of a faith to run it — it made no rational sense. Therefore, supposedly we can frame communism as a materialistic religion based upon money-elitist science — such is the Al Gore ‘ give me the monies the world will end in ten years and all the ice will melt on the plane” — crapola.

    It is no secret that the atheist-socialists control the White House and academia at Tire I institutions. This is why Karl Marx is their god. Marx once called for the destruction of all churches, religious statues and literature — to make his materialistic dispotia a reality. Michelle just has fallen for the mind-twist bait. Her husband is the personification of atheism — pro-anti-Christian.

    Wow, a part of a bookshelf with some books on it. Some of them even say “socialism” on them! Obviously we can make some logical conclusions from this picture.

    -This picture was DEFINITELY taken in the White House Library.

    -Those books were put there by Michelle Obama herself and she was grinning the whole time knowing that putting a book with the word “socialism” on the cover would destroy the fabric of America.

    -When you combine these “facts” together along with some BS out-of-context comment that some lady in the Obama Administration made about Chairman Mao or something, you come up with some spooooooky stuff, folks!

    Lawmaker aims to protect Arizonans from libel tourism

    [“If someone here feels that someone in London is supporting terrorism, they might be considerably less likely to speak out if they know that some Saudi billionaire is prepared to sue them for defamation,” Bodney said. “I think legislation like this is hugely important, particularly as more people are communicating routinely on Web sites via the Internet.”

    [..]

    Jasser, who addressed the committee, declined to identify the person threatening to sue him, saying that person made confidentiality a condition of not filing suit. But he said it was someone wealthy and from the Middle East.

    “I am willing to accept standards of freedom of speech in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights,” Jasser said. “But I’m not willing to
    hold myself accountable to standards of freedom of speech in London,
    the Emirates or Saudi Arabia.”]

    I understand that this isn’t necessarily a huge deal, I have Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto on my Kindle simply because they were free, and when I get time they might be interesting (if not horrifying) looks into two people I strongly disagree with. I think the real issue here is, I’d like to know which opposing views he has read or supported. Has the first couple ever studied Mises, Menger, Hayek, Friedman, Sowell, Woods, Bohm-Bawerk, Hazlitt, or anyone with an intellectual study of the free-market system? If he does, I would be curious what he thinks. His rhetoric seems to indicate a deep distrust and rejection of free-markets, I’m would like to know why. I understand almost no politicians are better, the problem is widespread across the aisle, and is rooted in the fact that our debates are dog and pony shows with no intellectual content.

    @BP The fact that Democrats are to the left of Republicans doesn’t mean much considering that they’re far to the right of most legitimate political parties pretty much anywhere in the world aside from America. They’re not “anti-free market” by any stretch of the imagination, and Obama’s bailout of our failing capitalist system reveals him more as a corporatist than anything else.

    Your wrong beliefs aside, trying to glean any meaningful information from a picture of some bookshelf with, what, THREE books with the word “socialism” on the cover (regardless of their content) is a lame attempt to further paint a very mediocre, average president you don’t like as some weird demonic “other”. Give it a rest and ponder for a bit why no one outside your bubble takes you seriously.

    So, bumpypeanis — What the heck got your panties in such a bunch? The most pro-socialistic president in American history has a few pro-socialist books on his shelf, and some people want to highlight this because it suggests where the president’s head is at…and you have a problem with that? Get a life. You’d probably go nuts if we had a president who openly read Burke, Hayek, Sowell, Solzhenitsyn, etc., so buzz off.

Some of them are biased towards socialism, some are biased against socialism and some are just straight up historical and try to avoid bias. This is obviously a section of the library on US political movements sorted in chronological order. I would bet that the Federalist Papers are also in the White House library. pumpybeanis

    Ah, relativism, the favorite tool of the left.

    Common examples:
    -We’re freer than some other countries, so we’re free
    -Our taxes are lower than other countries!
    -They’re not anti-free markets, they gave a tax cut once
    -They’re to the right of most world political parties, so lets go left

    This type of argument shows a relativistic view of the world that is disconnected from any objective reality. If Britain raises taxes to 90% on all citizens, are we still considered free if our taxes are 85%. We are better off than them, right? Comparing us to other countries is meaningless to someone living in an objective reality in which they thoroughly consider all things as they apply to themselves and those around them, and reach conclusions based on that analysis, rather than trying to compare themselves to all around them.

    Describing our ‘capitalist’ system as failing shows a fundamental misunderstanding of capitalism. Is it truly capitalism when market players get money by lobbying the government for cash or favorable regulations, rather than coordinating their savings, capital investment, and labor with the demands of consumers? Is it the hallmark of a capitalist society to have a central bank not only controlling and manipulating the money supply, but doing so with no oversight? Do bailouts have any place in a capitalist society? The answer to all of these is simply no, and any intellectual analysis of the free market, capitalist society will show this.

    Which rights has he taken from me? It is more relevant to examine the rights he has not tried to return which have been taken over the years. I cannot start a firm to compete with the Post Office to deliver first class mail. I cannot opt out of Social Security. I cannot invest or work without the government taking a large cut, thereby owning part of my body through my labor and investment. If I want to transact commerce in a money, money substitute, or fiduciary media other than Federal Reserve notes, I am prohibited. I could go on, and you’ll probably just level some stupid ad hominem dismissing these, but this post is already going much longer than I planned.

    The greatest thing about you, is you come here to blast people for making a big deal about something that may or may not use a big deal, then when confronted with a reasonable argument about the content of your posts, you spin into a tirade of personal attacks and calling people stupid. Until you crack open something like ‘The Road to Serfdom’, ‘Human Action’, ‘The Theory of Money and Credit’, ‘Crashproof’, or ‘Meltdown’ and tell me where they go wrong on their critiques of socialism, and their conclusion that it leads to societies based on underproduction and violence, why don’t you stop calling everyone complaining about socialism dumb or stupid?

    re: [why don’t you stop calling everyone
    complaining about socialism dumb or stupid?]

    Constructing this utopia was seen as though a war on poverty, exploitation, imperialism, and inequality. And for the greater good, as in a real war, people are killed. And thus this war for the communist utopia had its necessary enemy casualties, the clergy, bourgeoisie, capitalists, wreckers, counterrevolutionaries, rightists, tyrants, rich, landlords, and noncombatants that unfortunately got caught in the battle. In a war millions may die, but the cause may be well justified, as in the defeat of Hitler and an utterly racist Nazism. And to many communists, the cause of a communist utopia was such as to justify all the deaths. The irony of this is that communism in practice, even after decades of total control, did not improve the lot of the average person, but usually made their living conditions worse than before the revolution. It is not by chance that the greatest famines have occurred within the Soviet Union (about 5,000,000 dead during 1921-23 and 7,000,000 from 1932-3) and communist China (about 27,000,000 dead from 1959-61). In total almost 55,000,000 people died in various communist famines and associated diseases, a little over 10,000,000 of them from democidal famine. This is as though the total population of Turkey, Iran, or Thailand had been completely wiped out. And that something like 35,000,000 people fled communist countries as refugees, as though the countries of Argentina or Columbia had been totally emptied of all their people, was an unparalleled vote against the utopian pretensions of Marxism-Leninism.

    But communists could not be wrong.

    After all, their knowledge was scientific, based on historical materialism, an understanding of the dialectical process in nature and human society, and a materialist (and thus realistic) view of nature. Marx has shown empirically where society has been and why, and he and his interpreters proved that it was destined for a communist end. No one could prevent this, but only stand in the way and delay it at the cost of more human misery. Those who disagreed with this world view and even with some of the proper interpretations of Marx and Lenin were, without a scintilla of doubt, wrong. After all, did not Marx or Lenin or Stalin or Mao say that. . . . In other words, communism was like a fanatical religion. It had its revealed text and chief interpreters. It had its priests and their ritualistic prose with all the answers. It had a heaven, and the proper behavior to reach it. It had its appeal to faith. And it had its crusade against nonbelievers.

    What made this secular religion so utterly lethal was its seizure of all the state’s instrument of force and coercion and their immediate use to destroy or control all independent sources of power, such as the church, the professions, private businesses, schools, and, of course, the family.

    Lioncourt, normally you’d have a good point. However, this sort of thing must now be viewed in context with the Mao Christmas ornament and the communists that the administration likes to hire and appoint as Rob points out.

    But it also has to be viewed in context with the fact that Obama belonged to the socialist New Party

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/10/08/will-msm-report-obama-membership-socialist-new-party

    And the recent interview with one of Obama’s college associates who asserts that Obama was a “pure marxist socialist”

    http://www.breitbart.tv/college-acquaintance-young-obama-was-pure-marxist-socialist/

    And the fact that the Obama’s liked to hang out with the socialist Farrakahns

    http://conservativepolitics.today.com/2008/06/03/michelle-pictured-together-with-wife-of-louis-farrakhan/

    So instances like the photographs of the books while normally might be innocent enough, noe have to be questioned.

    How many associations do there have to be before it ceases to be a matter of guilt by association, and is instead a matter of birds of a feather flocking together?

    How many isolated incidents and innocent coincidences have to occur before it is instead an established pattern of behavior?

    just a sample:

    Government Policies Stifle Talk of Islam

    [President-elect Obama would be wise to build on this momentum. First, he should order a top-down review of the language that government agencies employ to describe Islamists and the war they wage on the West. Second, in a nod to critics of the Homeland Security document, he should pledge greater transparency with regard to the individuals and organizations invited to help shape the lexicon.]

    Obama’s Muslim Outreach, Kareem Shora
    And The Department Of Homeland Security

    [We suggest that unless DHS, and other federal agencies charged with maintaining national security, recognize the internal contradiction represented by hiring individuals intent upon promoting a political agenda not at all consistent with the agency's mission, it will be impossible for the DHS to successfully carry out its weighty mandate, with the nation suffering as a result.]

    Obama Appoints Muslim to High-level
    Position in Department of Homeland Security

    [One may wonder how does an obscure (but Democrat) bureaucrat and devout Muslim come to the position of Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles--in charge of public safety for the city and now becomes Assistant Secretary to DHS under purported non Muslim Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama?]

    Idiots and American “intellectuals”, when they all feign that they learn, learn from books lauding Socialism.

    Real honest and smart people learn from history and from taking an honest not-blinded look at the fate of the followng European countries:

    Bulgaria (September 15, 1946 – December 7, 1990);

    Hungary (August 20, 1949 – October 23, 1989);
    Poland (June 28, 1945 – July 19, 1989);

    Yugoslavia(November 29, 1943 – October 8, 1991 / April 27, 1992);

    the fate of the following Asian countries:
    Afghanistan (April 27, 1978 – April 28, 1992);
    Kampuchea (January 7, 1979 – October 23, 1991);
    Mongolia (November 24, 1924 – February 12, 1992);
    Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – July 2, 1976);

    the fate of the following African countries:
    Angola (November 11, 1975 – August 27, 1992);
    Benin (November 30, 1975 – March 1, 1990);
    Congo (January 3, 1970 – March 15, 1992);
    Ethiopia (September 10, 1987 – May 27, 1991);
    Mozambique (June 25, 1975 – December 1, 1990);
    Somali (July 1, 1976 – January 26, 1991);
    Yemen (November 30, 1967 – May 22, 1990), all of which are alreazdy the past history (aftee an ocean of blood of own compatriots);

    and the fate of the following still “existing” Socialist coutries:
    China (October 1, 1949 and before the Deng Xiaoping’s reform in 1977);
    Cuba (January 1, 1959);
    North Korea (September 9, 1948);
    Laos (December 2, 1975);
    Vietnam (July 2, 1976, but in the north since 1954),
    all of which are not in the list of the most prosperous countries, to say as softly as I can.

    I wouldn’t mind if people read so-called “source materials” of Marxism-Leninism just to learn the essence of that inhuman ideology.
    But reading books like “The Social basis of American Communism” reveals gthe devilish and damnable intentions of the reader(s).

    Senator Obama, Citizen of the World

    [European socialists and Middle Eastern Muslims are wildly enthusiastic about Senator Obama, because he styles himself a citizen of the world who, like all liberal- progressive- socialists, aims for world government.

    American liberal- progressive- socialism, in the person of Senator Obama, is a carbon copy of European socialism, and Islamic jihadists recognize that socialism offers no opposition to their ruthless jihad to enslave the entire world.

    For historical perspective, let's look to one of France's leading socialist theoreticians, the late Jean- François Revel. As I wrote at the time of M. Revel's death in May, 2006:

    Jean- François Revel, who died last week at the age of 82, was that exceedingly rare person: a French intellectual who didn't despise the United States, an intellectual who understood the cancerous prognosis of liberalism.

    Revel's 1983 "How Democracies Perish" described liberalism's debilitating effect on confronting the threat of domination by the Soviet Union. His observations apply equally today in our long-term struggle against Islamic jihad.]

    btw, to my knowledge, the WH Library is a “private library”, ergo, i wouldn’t
    put it past the MSM to be the ones who are making fake but accurate reports..

    i mean they managed to get the usurper elected
    via a whole slew of covering-ups did they not??

    The books have been there since 1963, the Obamas had nothing to do with their selection as even Mr. Port has now been forced to admit (and so what if they did–these are serious works of scholarship which would explain why the hapless blogger was unfamiliar with them). http://bit.ly/9QLt9C And, by the way, Nathan Glazer, author of The Social Basis for American Communism is one of the godfathers of the neoconservative movement. When are you folks going to grow up? This kind of juvenile “gotcha” crap is why most sane Americans think the teabagger crowd is a bunch of lunatics.

    i post facts, it’s up to the reader to connect the
    dots & discern whether or not to believe them..

    btw, when dots are connected, facts can & do prove conspiracy
    theories to be true, take the Global Warming Hoax for instance..

    fact is, the Global Warming Hoax was
    a Conspiracy Theory in reverse..

    The First Global Revolution:
    Blueprint for a new global order

    another fact is, people who research & connect dots are not conspiracy theorists, they are people who either unravel or fail to prove there is a conspiracy, not the ones who create them.. take 9/11 for another instance, if only the dots were connected, AQ’s conspiracy would have hopefully been thwarted.. *sigh*

    In my opinion, bg, the most cowardly and despicable form of libel is to make broad, unsupported accusations, and then when confronted with the absurdity and baselessness of your charges, to backtrack, rationalize and change the subject. Hi, BG. Are you familiar with concept of reprints? That means a book has been issued in a new edition with a later date than the original. Nathan Glazer’s The Social Basis of American Communism was originally published in 1961. http://bit.ly/cjJzbz U.S. Senators and their World was published first in 1960 http://bit.ly/9yozFh Facts, Hercule, facts.

Maybe this Rob guy stuck them there so he could stir this pot so many of you willingly jumped into. Just ask them to discuss the Founding Fathers Charters of Freedom:the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

    They will reveal that those “old” documents are worthless and that their vision of the future ( although it has yet to work) is better.

    Let me confuse your minds with a few facts. According to the World Economic Forum’s Survey of the Most Competitive countries, the 10 most business friendly are Switzerland, the U.S., Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Canada, and the Netherlands. All of these other countries have a much more robust government welfare system than ours, and some are outright socialistic. All have universal health care, and many have paid parental leave, paid pres-school and nursing home care, and free college educations.

    These so-called nanny state benefits actually promote innovation and entrepreneurship. How many people in the U.S. would happily quit their jobs and start a business if only they knew they would have guaranteed health benefits?

    Bottom-line? Socialism is compatible with and even promotes capitalism.

    @bg

    Like crap from the National Center for Policy Analysis–per your link? It’s basically a corporate/business shill.

    I’ll go with peer reviewed analysis in the New England Journal of Medicine, 45,000 die each year from lack of health care insurance.

    Or we could go with public health statistics:

    Sweden 7th in life expectancy at 80.9 years.
    U.S. 38th at 78.2.

    Almost 3 years less lifespand here.

    Or infant mortality:

    Sweden 2.75 per 1,000 live births.
    U.S. 6.3 per 1,000 live births.

    And before you protest that Sweden is a homogenous white society and we have all these third-world immigrants, it’s not true. There are no differences among immigrants and ethnic Swedes in the public health statistics.

    And, Sweden aside, the number one competitive country, Switzerland, is not exactly a Marxist paradise. It doesn’t even have socialized medicine, but it does have non-profit universal coverage. The key to health care is not government run versus private but non-profit versus for-profit.

    We spend twice as much per capita on health care as most other countries, and the results are truly shoddy. If you are worried about Swedish waiting lists, I’m sure we can provide coverage to all without the waiting lists.

    From Business Week, a capitalist magazine:
    a 2005 survey by the Commonwealth Fund of sick adults in six nations found that only 47% of U.S. patients could get a same- or next-day appointment for a medical problem, worse than every other country except Canada.

    The Commonwealth survey did find that U.S. patients had the second-shortest wait times if they wished to see a specialist or have nonemergency surgery, such as a hip replacement or cataract operation (Germany, which has national health care, came in first on both measures). But Gerard F. Anderson, a health policy expert at Johns Hopkins University, says doctors in countries where there are lengthy queues for elective surgeries put at-risk patients on the list long before their need is critical. “Their wait might be uncomfortable, but it makes very little clinical difference,” he says.

    The Commonwealth study did find one area where the U.S. was first by a wide margin: 51% of sick Americans surveyed did not visit a doctor, get a needed test, or fill a prescription within the past two years because of cost. No other country came close.”
