Keep it up, guys. You are on the right track. Take a look at this.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/feb/07/michael-dukakis-sounds-off-on-complacent-democrats/
Michael Dukakis made a speech yesterday at the the City Club of San Diego, and included a post-mortem of the election his home state. The speech included this:
“Dukakis, who now teaches public policy at UCLA and Northeastern University, has become an outspoken critic of the Senate filibuster procedure that, with Republican Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts, leaves Democrats one vote shy of the 60 votes that are required to cut off debate and move the health care bill forward.”
““Because of what happened in Massachusetts, 41 people can stop 59 people from acting,” he said.”
“Brown was swept into office after promising to supply the critical vote to derail President Barack Obama’s health care plan.”
“Dukakis contended it is voter revulsion against the public deal-making necessitated by the filibuster rule that is the major factor behind mounting opposition to the health care legislation.”
“They didn’t exactly cover themselves with glory, and I think a lot of the public anger comes from abusing the process,” he said.”
**************
So, he thinks the Democrats have been abusing the process, and his solution is to make it easier for them to enact legislation that substantial numbers of Americans (yes, a minority can represent substantial numbers) think is unwise.
1) In retrospect, I am SO GLAD this man was never President of the United States.
2) This kind of “ram-it-down-their-throats” disrespect for ordinary Americans is intolerable.
The reason this Congress is unpopular is because the legislation it has proposed and passed has been properly criticized, without redress. The people of this country are not stupid. They don’t even necessarily disagree with the professed goals of some of the legislation. They do object to provisions that appear to be pernicious. They object to old, bad ideas embodied in hugely bloated, expensive, unreadable, badly-timed and ill-targeted legislation, particularly when that legislation is plainly directed to enriching the political allies of individuals in Congress.

No one accuses “the one” of being a merchant of hate when he exhausts straw man after straw man and belittles most of the electorate. I assume this means that “hate” is defined as anyone holding up something he believes in as something to be ridiculed. For most of us, this is probably not a new feeling.

The thing I find most amusing about the Democrats is that even they admit that opposing their agenda is politically beneficial to Republicans, and yet, they continue to claim that America WANTS their agenda.
If America WANTS their agenda, why is opposing it politically beneficial to Republicans? If America WANTS their agenda, why are Republicans who run AGAINST that agenda winning even in Democrat strongholds like MA?
Their entire thinking is a non-sequitur and shows that in their hearts, the believe that THEY know better for America than Americans know themselves, and isn’t that at the core of fascism?
February 7th, 2010 | 10:10 am | #11
The press REALLY does not get it. Palin comes across to them as paranoid and hateful because she is suspicious of government and politicians.

Ok, let’s set the record straight on Bush’s “disastrous 8 years”.
The average unemployment rate under Bush was below 5%.
During 6 years of the Bush Presidency, we had the highest sustained economic growth EVER in our history – and this despite 9/11, two major wars and about 8 hurricanes. (Bill Clinton faced NONE of this and without these, Bush would have run a trillion dollar surplus.)
When did it all start to fall apart?
That’s easy – when the Dems took Congress and started forcing lenders to make loans to people who could not afford them. In order to hedge their risk on these bad loans, banks got involved in trading risky derivatives.
When the real estate market collapsed, the derivative market collapsed and the banks collapsed.
This can all be CLEARLY tied back to Democrat Policy once they took power. There is no debating this as Al Gore likes to say.
CONCLUSION:
For a liberal to claim that Bush gave us ‘another Great Depression’ shows they they are either lying or ignorant.
We entered a recession during the last 2 years of Clinton due to the dot.com bubble bust. Does that mean that Clinton’s entire 8 years were a failure?

Isn’t it amazing how quickly some forget history? The left has silly inane talking points, and facts just don’t count. They watch as their parties agendas drive the country into depression with millions out of work and in despair, and have the unmitigated gall to blame it on others. This practice may have served them well before, but now they have shown their true colors, it is much harder to pull the wool over our eyes. There are still some who are to ignorant to even see the forest because the trees get in the way.
Sarah Palin is not perfect, indeed no man or woman is, but she’s a far cry from the filthy agenda of the anonymundos. She stands for something they don’t understand. It’s called honesty and the love of life unrestricted under G-D.

anonymundo,
your knowledge of histroy is deplorable.
Reagan cut taxes. Top marginal rate down from 70% to 38%.
The treasury doubled it’s intake to just under a trillion.
Civic’s 101, congress’ function is to appropriate and spend funds. Congress was dominated by Liberal Democrats that spent everything and more. theres your debt. They did this as a political tactic to be able to point and say tax cuts cause debt.
If your salary doubles in one year and yet you go farther into debt, you spent too much. duh!
Keep laughing when the conservative train runs you down.
The NOTUS is doing the same thing that FDR did just bigger and faster. FDR stimulated the economy 7 times with no effect. That is a quote from his treasury secretary of the time. Now class how did we get out of the great depression, WWII.

I have to laugh when I see Palin called “a complete idiot” by people who defend obvious simpletons like Pelosi, Boxer, Biden, etc. Instead of using projection, half-truths, and acting like an adolescent child, how about trying to engage in a reasonable exchange of views? No, I don’t think you’re capable of doing this. But let me ask how you mentioning that Reagan increased taxes three times is relevant considering the false Leftist talking point that he increased the deficit by cutting taxes too much? Or that Reagan tripled the debt while ignoring the role of Congress and defending double-digit spending increases under Obama and a Democrat-run Congress? I think based on your comments we can all see who “is a complete idiot,” junior.

It’s someone who says “this is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans,” implicitly suggesting those qualities are not found in places that don’t support her. It’s someone who gleefully compares herself to a pit bull.

The Truman Show
In his weekly column, Mark Steyn writes:
At the National Prayer Breakfast, Barack Obama singled out for praise Navy Corpsman Christian Bouchard. Or, as the president called him, “Corpseman Bouchard.” Twice.
Hey, not a big deal. Throughout his life, the commander in chief has had little contact with the military, and less interest. And, when you give as many speeches as this guy does, there’s no time to rehearse or read through: You just gotta fire up the prompter and wing it. But it’s revealing that nobody around him in the so-called smartest administration of all time thought to spell it out phonetically for him when the speech got typed up and loaded into the machine. Which suggests that either his minders don’t know that he doesn’t know that kinda stuff, or they don’t know it, either. To put it in Rumsfeldian terms, they don’t know what they don’t know.
Which is embarrassingly true. Hence, the awful flop speeches, from the Copenhagen Olympics to the Berlin Wall anniversary video to the Martha Coakley rally. The palpable whiff given off by the White House inner circle is that they’re the last people on the planet still besotted by Barack Obama, and that they’re having such a cool time starring in their own reality-show remake of “The West Wing” they can only conceive of the public – and, indeed, the world – as crowd-scene extras in “The Barack Obama Show.” They expect you to cheer and wave flags when the floor manager tells you to, but the notion that, in return, he should be able to persuade you of the merits of his policies seems entirely to have eluded them.

Yes, I do. I never use them and I cringe when others due. The point is, the “you are stupid” insults are easily proven false based on the educational achievements and accomplishments of many on the Right. If some of us are in Mensa, have multiple college degrees, etc., doesn’t that pretty much falsify that insult? That is different than the insults you cited, which are more akin to other garden variety insults used by the Left, like “Rethuglican” or “D-bag.” The biggest problem I have is that the challenging of the intellect of the Right by members of the Left is especially ridiculous considering who is tossing out the insult (e.g., 19-year-old Lefties working towards their liberal arts undergrad degree and who support politicians of relatively average to below-average intelligence, like Pelosi, Boxer, and Biden).
BTW, good job at ignoring the full content of my post. You’re big on only focusing on selected portions of posts when you have no response to much of it, aren’t you?

You DO realize that Mr. Bush is not the president any longer, don’t you, cupcake? The banks have been failing under the “enlightened leadership” of your favorite economic ignoramous – the one, the only, barry d’ohbama.
Or does he plan on avoiding responsibility for *everything* for the next 3 years? All the poor little wimp does is blame anyone and everyone else for his own failures. Now, that may have worked as an affirmative action charity case at harvard – but this is the real world; where a MAN steps up and admits his responsibility.
But, we don’t expect that from lil barry. He’s certainly no man.
February 8th, 2010 | 1:52 am | #72
The banks began to fail at 3 pm on Christmas Eve day 2006 just a couple months after
DemocratsIslamofascist-Marxist/Progressives took control of congress and DNC appointed Nancy Moriarty Piglosi as speaker of the henhouse. The first bank to fail was Indy Mac Bank. The bank catered to illegal immigrants loans forced upon banks by the law and by reinvestment act or better known as ACORN & SEIU. These loans were called NINJA. NO INCOME, NO JOB, NO ASSETS –NO PROOF they will ever be paid back loans–> Many employees of the bank had to pack up that night and go home for Christmas without a job and without a pay that they counted on for the holidays. No severance pay, nothing! I will never forget that day when they closed. I am in the industry but not with the failed banks. I knew people from Indy that got the bad news. I knew as it was happening at 3 pm that day in 2006. There are countless failures so far. Upwards of 500 lending institutions and 400 banks. All done under the DEM CONGRESS. Now you know why the credit market is tight. Narly Nancy! And Beans Franks. And Dowdy Dodd. And, well you know the rest.Once again the OBOTS have no idea what they are talking about and their command of recent ‘histra’ as their leader says it, downright sucks. Who’s the stupid one? Must be a volunteer door knocker (r)obot. Works for free ’cause no one would pay for their services anyway. Who’s dumb? (R)OBOTS. (R)OBOTS are the name of the easily FOOLED.
