Harry Reid to GOP: “I double-dog dare you.”

A clear majority of Americans oppose Obamacare. Just 20% of Americans strongly favor the awful plan and 41% strongly oppose the health care takeover. And yet Harry Reid dared Republicans to oppose the bill today in a letter to the Minority leader.
Roll Call reported:

The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that President Barack Obama must sign Congress’ original health care reform bill before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package, senior GOP sources said Thursday.

The Senate Parliamentarian’s Office was responding to questions posed by the Republican leadership. The answers were provided verbally, sources said.

House Democratic leaders have been searching for a way to ensure that any move they make to approve the Senate-passed $871 billion health care reform bill is followed by Senate action on a reconciliation package of adjustments to the original bill. One idea is to have the House and Senate act on reconciliation prior to House action on the Senate’s original health care bill.

Information Republicans say they have received from the Senate Parliamentarian’s Office eliminates that option. House Democratic leaders last week began looking at crafting a legislative rule that would allow the House to approve the Senate health care bill, but not forward it to Obama for his signature until the Senate clears the reconciliation package.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) moved Thursday to put Senate Republicans on the defensive over health care, sending a letter to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in which he dared the GOP to vote against reform.

Reid also defended the Democrats’ use of reconciliation to get a final health care reform bill to the president’s desk, noting that the bulk of health care reform was approved under regular order via the package that cleared the Senate on Christmas Eve. Reid also emphasized that Republicans have used the procedure several times over the years.

However, Reid also promised in the letter that Republicans would have ample opportunity to amend the reconciliation package.

All 41 Senate Republicans have already announced that they would not vote for this horrid bill.

Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) accused democrats today of once again writing their bill behind closed doors.

The GOP will have 67% of Congress and the White House if the Dems do this. By all means, implore the American people to make this a one-party system so we can finally roll back the last 80 years of New Deal Marxism in this country for good.

I think Harry has reached the point where he – and every other Democrat in the world – KNOWS that they’re going to take a wicked beating in November, so they’re just going for the gusto now – to get as much Socialism legislation passed – before the guillotine drops on their necks.

If he keeps on running his stupid mouth, he could be looking at a flip of BOTH the House and Senate. If you think that’s an outrageous suggestion – just remember Massachusetts.

Reid’s wife and daughter were just hurt in a car accident. I certainly hope he won’t be using our GREEDY doctors here in America. According to the Democrat Party narrative, they amputate limbs just to make a few more dollars. And I am sure that his evil, greedy, fat cat insurance company is going to deny his family’s claims. How else will the greedy, evil insurance corporations pay for their big yachts, and their private planes?

Poor Harry Reid. I bet he wishes his family had been driving in Cuba when they crashed. After all, the workers paradise has free health care for all, and no one is greedy ever.

    Statement Regarding Accident Involving
    Senator Reid’s Wife And Daughter

Washington, DC—Jon Summers, spokesman for Nevada Senator Harry Reid, released the following statement regarding an accident this afternoon in which Senator Reid’s wife and daughter were injured:

“Senator Reid’s wife, Landra, and daughter, Lana, were involved in an accident earlier today. They are being treated at a Washington-area hospital. While driving on a Washington, DC highway, their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck. Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening. Senator Reid has been to the hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate.”

I now believe that the Democrats never intended to pass “Health Care reform” from the start and just want to keep the issue around as a way to keep the poor on the the democrat plantation and to keep them on edge and voting for them, Why would the democrats want the issue to go away and lose the issue? why didnt the dems pass it when they had the 60 votes? they never wanted it in the first place, this is all a ploy and the poor people are being used as pawns.. Republicans need to get the message out so that health care competition across state lines will benefit those without health insurance etc.

Quite right. One doesn’t usually regard a broken neck as a non-life threatening injury. If, God willing, the initial prognoses are correct, both women have been very lucky. The semi could have climbed right up and over their vehicle.

Again, maybe this would be an opportune moment for Reid to seriously consider resigning. 1)He will probably get his head handed to him in November.2) He’s pushing legislation the American people do not want. 3)And we all have limited time on this Earth with which we can spend with those we love.

I’m reminded of the C.S. Lewis quote: “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world”

Maybe he should be listening a little harder.

I wish Reid’s wife and daughter well after being in a 4 car collision today. His wife is in serious condition.

It seems that Reid is playing chicken with an empty coop. Everything I read says the Dems don’t have the votes on Healthcare unless of course Pelosi deems it passed without voting at all.

So far Stupak is holding and as Paul Ryan said today Congressional Dems are getting more fed up by the day with having to pass a bill they don’t like so that Obama can go to China. Stupak said this can be done when he gets back — he is not going to stay in China for 6 years.

So alls not well in the Chicken Coop. Harry you need to know when to hold em and when to fold em. And never count your chickens before they’re hatched.

A “Tea Party” candidate has showed up to take away votes from Reid’s opponent. It smells like Chicago politics, where they stack the deck to take away votes from their opponents. The “Tea Party” candidate is polling at 18%. If this continues Reid will win. Wonder what this guy has been promised? Harry Reid’s “promise” is as valuable outside the day room of a mental hospital as Lindsey Graham’s. We have ample evidence with which to judge both of these deceitful beings. Why don’t Graham’s fans fly over to Davos with him and hob nob with billionaires about how he tricks republicans into voting for cap and trade, the greatest crime against humanity in history. Then clap when he demands illegal aliens be legalized. Will he take them into his personal home permanently? Then go laugh with him when he ridicules people on the right and gets media to cover him 24/7. He has a long and very clear record. Why would one associate with any human being who behaved like this?

Harry Reid’s sneaky “Tea Party” candidate

[It seems the dems are up to their old tricks. They helped Ross Perot defeat G. W. H. Bush in 1991 and they helped split the 'Pub vote by voting for McCain in 2008. Reid thinks a stalking horse may help keep his senatorial seat in 2010. How? By running a dem masquerading as a Tea Partier.

    [..]

Nationally, the Tea Party movement has avoided party status and candidates. Except Nevada? You gotta believe the Reid campaign,
or some form thereof, is behind this tactic.

And frankly, it’s a brilliant tactic. If Reid can get the Tea Party name on the ballot, it will absolutely shift some votes away from the Republican candidate, who in a head-to-head matchup right now beats Reid hands down.

Look, Reid has more money than God for this race. But because almost everyone in Nevada has made up their minds about Reid, that money
isn’t going to move the needle for him much.

That money is going to be used primarily to move the needle away from his Republican opponent. After the primary, Reid will unleash a negative campaign the likes of which has never been seen in this state. And, if a few million dollars can also be used for sneaky campaign tricks like propping up phony campaigns or sponsoring faux news sites (paging Erin Neff, there’s an envelope for you at the front desk), well that’s just old-fashioned addition by subtraction.]

Tea Party candidate for Nev. Senate questioned
by tea party groups, GOP candidates

[GOP primary field leader Sue Lowden, a former Nevada Republican Party chairman who calls herself a Tea Party voter, also questioned Ashjian's tea party bona fides. "I don't know who this person is. He's
never been involved with anything that I'm aware of in this state,"
    she told CNN.]

Jon Scott Ashjian, Harry Reid’s Tea Party Challenger,
Owes More Than $200,000 in Back Taxes

    Dear Tea Party Candidate:
You Are Not Invited to OUR Tea Parties

[We, the grassroots/tea party leaders of Nevada, speaking for the conservative activists in our communities, are united in issuing the following statement.

    – We are united in denouncing the TPN (Tea Party of Nevada).

    – The TPN is not a conservative party who speaks
for grassroots and tea party activists in Nevada.

    – The TPN is not now, has never been, and will never
be affiliated with grassroots efforts in Nevada.

    – The term “Tea Party Candidate” will no longer be used
to indicate grassroots support for a candidate or candidates.

    – The TPN will not be invited to or allowed to represent themselves
at conservative grassroots events and functions across Nevada.

    – We are united in our desire for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability from legislators and in legislation from Carson City, NV and Washington, D.C.

    – We are united in opposition of progressive leanings towards unfunded mandates as a solution to appeasing special interest and delivering ‘social justice’.

    – We are united in the belief that our government should be inspiring pride and accountability, and personal strength and opportunity, not a path for us to follow to have our needs met as the government sees fit.

    – We, the tea party activists and grassroots
    organizers in Nevada, are united.]

    GET THE WORD OUT:

the Tea Party Nevada (TPN ) is not associated
with the original Tea Party Movement (TPM)

[When Reid learned of plans by the investor and A-Power to build a wind turbine manufacturing plant in the United States, “he told us that Nevada was poised to be at the epicenter of America’s commitment to renewable energy technology,” said Ed Cunningham, managing partner of U.S. Renewable Energy Group. “This multimillion-dollar investment in Nevada will further advance the Senate majority leader’s clean energy initiatives while allowing out-of-work Nevadans to re-enter the workforce in high-paying, stable, green jobs.”

Jinxiang Lu, CEO and chairman of A-Power, said the decision to locate the assembly plant in Nevada to serve North and South America was based on Reid’s “vision for the development of clean energy industries in his home state, Nevada’s position relative to the major wind corridors, and the strength and sophistication of Nevada’s skilled workforce.”]
